Hi,
I’m having trouble with text colour in teams. In the excerpt, I have a link which says ‘Click here to read more…’ When hovering over this it does turn another colour. I would like this to be another colour before hovering over however. I’ve tried inserting code such as before the link, but it doesn’t make any difference and still appears black.

So I checked my Website in seobility and another tool and it showed that there is no h1 or h2 in the blog part of your theme – and this is really bad especially for google and seo – can you please change that? I didn’t change anything in the html or something and I’m always working with the normal worpress editor to publish a blogpost – but the title is not a h1 or h2.

Also we added option to set H1 for logo on all pages. Just go to Admin > Appearance > Theme Options > Header Settings and select “H1 tag everywhere” in the “Logo Tag for SEO” option. This will set H1 tag for the logo on all pages. By default, “H1 for home, SPAN on other pages” option it will set H1 tag in logo for homepage only and set SPAN in logo for other pages.

Thx for the answer! I did the update and with that I had to disable the w3 cache plugin for I could not reach my blog anymore. With deactivating the plugin everything seemed fine but when I wanted to change the theme options this error occurred: Internal Server Error
The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.
I cant get in the theme options anymore since I did the update? Can you help me or tell me why?

There was a bug that prevent to load the Theme Options. We solved it and released new updated version. This happens only on some hostings. To solve this, just update the theme and the Theme Options will be working.

- It looks like you added slider in page content. We recommend you to add slider in header area by selecting the slider in the “Howes: Page Options” box. We described this in our document:

My product page is totally weird. I don’t know what is going on but the bottom footers are over the product
- This is looks like some file is broken uploaded or some DIV missing to close in the description area. Please check for HTML content that you inserted and make sure all DIV and other HTML tags are closed properly. Can you help me with something?
I’m trying to use WPML with the theme, and wanted to place de language selector right before the search button in the menu. Can you tell me where should i put the ”<?php do_action(‘icl_language_selector’); ?>” in the theme files to make the selector appear in the right place?
Selecting the option to add the selector to the menu won’t help because due to the setting i’ve choosen to the menu, the language selector will appear in the middle, and not in the right side of the menu.

We are using default WordPress menu functions so it will add language switcher at last in the menu (and not at center). There is no option to add the PHP code in the menu.

We added option to change the “Read More” word directly in Theme Options. So just go to Admin > Appearance > Theme Options > Blog Settings section and change the word in “Read More Link Text” option. This will change the “Read More” word.

Sorry, i didn’t mention it but i’ve already tried to change that text in the Theme Options… I expected that it would change every “Read More” text present in the theme, but that parameter doesn’t seem to affect the Read More buttons present in the Post Grid elements. For the sidebar, no there is no option to add sidebar. Although you can set sidebar via child theme.
For the Event Widget, yes we are providing Event element in Visual Composer that will show events from “The Events Calendar” plugin data. Technically it’s Shortcode and use it anywhere.

Hello, We have a project which is a single page, full width site with a number of sections (“pages”) that have a background image. Can Howes have a different background image in different sections? For instance, the first page/section is a full screen background image. And, on that first section/page, there are 2 content boxes – one of them for quotes – so I guess this would be done by using a widget. Can Howes do this? Using Visual Composer (can you put widgets in content boxes/modules with VC?)? Regards D

We haven’t any option to load third party widget as VC element. But you can add any Shortcode and text element and it will he called. So basically Shortcode will work without any problem.

Currently we added option to add logo as TEXT or as IMAGE. You can use any Google Font for logo. Also you can set text color, font size etc for logo. You can upload normal size logo or retina ready (2x size) logo image as PSD so it will be retina ready. We haven’t added SVG option.

Hi, I just read one of the last comments. I do have the same problem.
I tried the recommended WP Super Cache. We have pages without pictures and our provider is one of the leading website providers in Germany (so I guess, they are not that slow). Our frontpage needs 24 seconds to load (ok, there we have some pictures, but still it is way too much). Everything else is perfect. I really like yout theme, but unfortunatley I need to deduct quite some stars from my rating, it the speed problem is not gonna be solved (or at least reduced to a normal level). We are also using WP Super Cache and you can see our site is quire fast with images. The site will be faster with WP Super Cache. Also our theme will not be called if you are using this plugin too. So it totally depends on your hosting directly.
Let me describe technically. The “WP Super Cache” plugin will generate HTML (cached) copy of all of your pages. So it will be served directly without WordPress/theme calling. So this plugin cut all the WordPress process and all pages are handled directly by this plugin. Now, if you site is still slow than you should contact your hosting service provider as the pages are not handled by our theme and serving HTML cached pages directly.

Also we checked your site and found that you enabled the page loader effect. Please note that the Loader animation also feels you slow site. So try to check your site after disabling the loader too.
Some of our users complaining same speed issue but they are now happy after disabling the loader animation. So try it too.

For vector icons, we provided icon libraries selection in Admin > Appearance > Theme Options > Layout Settings section. Just select library that you want in “Select Font Icon Library” option.
After that, you can select icon globally in all theme elements.

For this, you need to go to technical way. First, you need to upload icon files and their CSS files via FTP on your server. Than insert CSS via child theme. So all your class will work in your site. Than use the class they provided to show icons.

Glad to hear that you are interested in our theme.
The slider is different from the page-content in our theme. We have added option to add slider on each page as a separate meta-box. So you can add slider on Blogroll Homepage too. You just need to select only the Blog page (not homepage) and than you can set slider on that blog page.

Clients and Portfolio are two different post types in our theme and not linked with each other. So you can add as many clients and portfolios as possible. There is no limit.

In the portfolio options, you have several options: ‘Client Name’, ‘Client Link’, ‘Skills’ etc. I would like to add more clients and maybe more client links to one portfolio.
Oh ok.
That is called extra fields for Portfolio. There is no option to add more fields.
Although there is one possible way to add fields by child theme, but you must know advanced level of WordPress/PHP coding and you must do it yourself.

I am also experiencing slow initial load of each page. Site hangs then loads ok. We have installed W3 Total Cache but it has not reduced/solved the issue.
Google report:

I think you are upload the full package instead of the theme folder only.
So first download the Howes Theme Package and unzip on your pc. Now you have some files and folders. Our main theme file is howes.zip. Just unzip this file and you will get howes folder. This is our main theme folder. Just upload this folder on your server at /wp-content/themes/ location. Now you can go to admin section and activate the theme.
Just follow “Option 2: Via FTP client” steps given on this page:

- This may be Permalink issue. Just go to Admin > Settings > Permalinks section and save settings. This may solve the 404 error. If not than please send us your site URL with admin login details so we can check directly on your site.
Also, could you please let me know how to completely remove the text from the titlebar? I don’t want any text showing.
- There is no direct option to remove it. But we can do this by adding custom CSS code.
There are two options for this. First is that you can hide the text appear in the Titlebar but you can show the box with it’s background. And second is that you can completely remove the box.
So please describe which view you want so we can guide you more.

Is there a way to disable the theme’s built in lightbox functionality or modify it so that it doesn’t interfere with the Nextgen gallery lightbox?

We fixed the lightbox (we are using PrettyPhoto library) library so there is no direct option to do it. But you can disable it by creating child theme and remove the prettyphoto call from functions.js file.
