Hey man, great theme! sent you an urgent email, pelase see, Ben.
Hi Ben,
When did you send the e-mail? I’m not seeing anything in my inbox or spam folder, I’ll keep an eye out though.
Alternatively, you could also open a thread on our support forum.
The last e-mail I’m seeing in my inbox from you is regarding bulk image uploads on an existing site, which I responded to 4 days ago with some suggestions. If you’ve sent anything since then, it doesn’t seem to be showing up.
Let me know what I can do to help!
Any updates on the new version?
I’m very, very close—submitting today, hopefully.
I’d be happy to show a preview so you can see where I’m at, feel free to send an e-mail through our author profile page for a link if interested.
I am considering purchasing your theme. I’ve read somewhere in here that it does support left sidebar, right sidebar and both sidebar content. Is there any way you can add pages to your demo that show how pages look with each of these page layouts? I’d really like to see an example showing both left and right sidebars together on a page to see how it looks before committing to the purchase. That’s the only concern for what looks to be an excellent theme. I’ll probably be purchasing this twice for two different clients. If you are unable to quickly add these pages to the demo, a screen capture image posted in reply to this would work just as well. Thanks a bunch.
Hi wildlife77,
Thanks for your interest in the Dawn theme. You can find an example of both sidebars by clicking here, the sidebar width can be modified in the theme settings if needed—the left and right sidebars don’t need to be the same width on the grid.
Within the next 1-2 weeks, we’ll be releasing version 2 of Dawn which will expand the grid from 940px to 1140px. While the current version will still be available for download, the updated version of the theme will have much more screen space if clutter is something you’re concerned about.
I hope this info helps, let me know if you have any questions!
Definitely helps. Thanks for putting that up.
If we purchase this 940px version now, how difficult will it be to upgrade to the 1140px version later? For one of the sites, we need to have the site redesign completed and launched, preferably within this 1-2 week time period, so waiting isn’t a good option for us there. Also, will the update to version 2 be free for us if we purchase version 1 now?
If it will just be a matter of downloading and installing the new version once it is ready and all will look good, then we can do it that way and not wait. But if there will be more to it than that, waiting might be the better option. We have to have this launched before the end of the month at the absolute latest. Waiting 1-2 weeks only makes sense if it is the lesser of two evils for us because it will really put me up against the wall to complete all the needed customization in time.
We will be modifying the CSS of the look of the side columns using background colors and borders to make them stand out more from the main page content, but we will not be modifying the widths in any way.
So please let me know if changing to the 1140px version after having the 940px version installed will have any difficulties to it and we’ll decide whether to purchase now or to wait from that feedback.
We can definitely wait the 1-2 weeks for the other client as work on that project isn’t likely to begin until the beginning of September. I’m still awaiting 100% confirmation from them to go ahead with the purchase of your theme, but they’ve already chosen it as the one they want among the best options I showed them. It’s going to happen, it’s just a matter of when they give the green light.
Overall, it will be easier to start from version 2 (instead of upgrading from v1 to v2)—however an upgrade is still possible. The update process will consist of:
- Updating template, CSS, JS files
- Overwriting old views with updated Views
Assuming you make no customizations to the theme, and use the default templates and views, upgrading from v1 to v2 would literally take 5 minutes.
If you make your own customizations to Dawn’s template files or views, on the other hand, you would need to manually implement your changes into v2 as well (obviously taking a bit longer).
The upgrade process really depends on how much you plan on changing the original structure of the theme. If you can afford to wait an extra 1-2 weeks it’s probably worth the wait, v2 will be much nicer.
Based on your reply here, I’m inclined to wait because of the customizations that will be done. However if there is any chance that the 1-2 weeks will end up being 3-4 weeks, for example, then we’d have to go ahead with v1 now. I’d say the latest we could wait would be until probably August 24. Can you let me know the chances of it extending beyond that date? I know that’s difficult to pinpoint if you’re in the middle of working on it.
Also can you confirm that if we purchase v1 now, we’ll get v2 for no additional charge when it is done?
It will be 2 weeks, at a maximum, I actually wanted v2 online earlier this summer but the timing didn’t work out.
Traditionally all upgrades have been free here at ThemeForest. However, starting September 2015, Envato will start charging for support and upgrades 6 months after your initial purchase.
If you were to buy v1 this month, you would have access to free upgrades and support until February 2016.
So instead of $48 one time, the theme is going to be $48 every six-months? If so, that’s a game changer. I will have to let the clients know this.
I don’t think support/upgrades will cost as much as the theme, everything Envato has told us so far can be found on the Envato blog.
The $48 license will be a one time fee, like it always has been. Free support and upgrades, however, will expire after 6 months.
If you refer to the screenshots in the blog post I linked to above, it looks like you will be able to buy a 12-month “support pack” for a fraction of the item cost. Here’s another post from Envato related to pricing for support extensions.
Regardless, this isn’t something exclusive to the Dawn theme, every item on both ThemeForest and CodeCanyon will be affected by these new policies.
It looks to me like the cost to purchase and have ongoing upgrades and support will be $62.40 for the first year and $48 per year after that. The $48 price gets 6-months of support and upgrades. Then $14.40 will get another 6-month extension. Then after that it will be $24 per 6-month extension, needing to be purchased twice a year. So it’s not as costly as I feared, but is definitely significantly more than it is now. I’ll have to discuss this with the clients from this point. Thanks a bunch for the heads up on this.

OK the current client decided to go with the theme and an additional 6 months of support and upgrades. And then we’ll decide if they want additional support and upgrades later. So we’ll wait until the release of your version 2.
Any updates on the status of version 2? Do you have a release date set yet? Just checking.
Very close, just wrapping up the new slider module.
You can expect v2 to be submitted to the update queue on Saturday or Sunday of this week.
Typically, updates are processed within 24 hours, although the review team @ Envato may not get around to approving my update until Monday.
OK. Thanks for the info
Where do I look to tell if it is OK to order to get version 2? Will the “Last Update” info in the right column here change to 23 August 15 when the new one is the one I’m purchasing and will get to download after purchase? Or do I look elsewhere?
Yeah, the “Last updated” date will change immediately after the updated version is online. I’ll also leave you a reminder here in the comments section once it’s up.
Were you able to finish it? Just checking the status on things because it hasn’t updated yet.
I didn’t, had to make an emergency update to our Spotlite module over the weekend related to the new YouTube API. The new version of this module is a key piece of v2 (used for slider, lightbox, carousel, grid) so I couldn’t submit the update before this issue was resolved.
I’m pushing hard to wrap things up today, submit tomorrow. If you’re in a rush, feel free to contact me through my author profile page and we can probably work something out since the circumstances are a bit tight.
We decided we can wait another day, but please keep me updated as to the status of things today. If it’s not looking like it will be available for purchase today or at least submitted for update, then we’ll get in touch as you suggested. We need to have the site redesign using your theme completed by September 3rd or 4th, and we will likely have to do much customization, so we’re definitely up against the wall timewise.
To be honest I’d prefer to take my time, not rush and submit unfinished work over 1 sale, which is why I suggested contacting via e-mail—at this point, the theme itself is essentially ready to go, I’m willing to work with you to get you the files sooner rather than later.
If you can wait until early next week to customize the slider (which is a module, requires no changes to theme files), or are willing to use the old slider in v1, you could easily start customizing your theme on v2 as early as tomorrow.
I know it may seem like a headache, and completely understand if you decide to go with another theme, but want to be transparent and let you know where things are at.
Understood on not wanting to rush the work. I’ll e-mail through the profile based on what you’ve said here.
Hi, I am interested in this theme. May i know do you have updated version with Bootstrap 3.x?
Hi kcsimcity1,
A Bootstrap 3 version is in development, but at the time of writing this response Dawn only supports version 2.x of Bootstrap. I estimate the updated version is 1-2 weeks away. Sorry for any inconvenience!
Hi, Thanks for the reply. Please keep us updated here. I believe a lot of people interested on this theme that supporting Bootstrap 3.
Hi kcsimcity1,
The update is finally in the review queue, should be online within the next 24 hours.
Hi There,
I have put some forum topics on website, I have seen some problem in Forum title and Forum breadcrumb. Please check the URL.
http://supplier.trainedge.co.in/node/76Thanks AT
I am waiting for your response..
Thanks
Hi There,
How to change the MASTHEAD image for Forum and Event page?
http://supplier.trainedge.co.in/forum http://supplier.trainedge.co.in/calendarThanks AT
Hi, I am waiting for your response.
Hi CGNSCP,
In the theme settings, there are options to upload a masthead for node types (nodes), but custom pages generated by custom modules will not have solutions built in to the theme settings (ie. forum and calendar).
For these pages, you’ll need to add the URL to the masthead image through your dawn/css/dawn.css file. For example:
.page-calendar #masthead {
background:url(http://path/to/your/image) !important;
}
.page-forum #masthead {
background:url(http://path/to/your/image) !important;
}
After adding these lines to the dawn.css file and plugging in the appropriate image URL, the masthead image should change on these pages.
Let me know if you run into any problems!
My Theme is not showing properly even after following the instructions.
Hi dharley,
I’d be happy to help but the information you’ve supplied doesn’t tell me much—what do you mean by “not showing properly”? Do you have a screenshot you could show as an example?
I apologize if this is not the place to leave this, but my support account is still pending and I am trying to launch the new theme to my site. I’m having trouble with the revolution_slider, it says that it requires an image field to be added. It was working initially, then it gave this error. Please advise. thanks
Hi mlsatya,
Have you by chance made any changes to the “Slide Builder” content type or the Revolution Slider view? I’ve never heard of a problem like this before, but it sounds like it should be pretty easy to fix.
I just approved your account, if you could post a screenshot on the forums which shows the exact error you’re getting that would help a lot.
You won’t believe it, but i put the old slider in as a place holder, then i changed it back to revolution slider and it works! It was so strange to me too, because the image field was there in the content type. Anyway its working now. Thanks!
Hi there,
Many thanks for designing this great theme! Very impressed!
I have been using this theme for a while, but one of our admin girls has access to the site, and she has made an update which is causing some issues.
She said she was playing around with something to do with “image sizes” and there are now issues with the site.
If you look at the following link: http://www.regalmaritimesolutions.com/our-peopleYou can see that the 2x blocks that should be on the right, are now positioned below the text body.
Also the image seems to have been extended, which I am assuing is what she changed.
Would you have any idea how to resolve this one please?
Many thanks!
Hi,
Thanks for a great theme. One issue I’m having is the modal search and user login aren’t working. They just produce a 404 error. Any ideas?
Thanks again
does it theme ‘views’ output correct? most theme developers forget this feature and produce garbage or bad aligned output from views.
Hi 100IT,
Could you clarify what you mean by correct? As far as I know, yeah, the Views output works fine—I haven’t received any complaints over the course of Dawn’s lifespan.
We do have a version 2.0 of the theme coming out this week which will include upgrades the Views that come packaged with the theme as well. If you could elaborate a bit on what you’re expectations are, I could probably give you a better answer.
Thanks for your feedback – I’m willing to buy your theme – We are upgrading this site: http://www.deplate.be/ which has a large amount of pages and images ( 50K)
The homepage images and views lists are produced with views and we want to theme these better, also view lists like:
http://www.deplate.be/content/alle-trefwoorden-taxonomie-view http://www.deplate.be/tracker http://www.deplate.be/content/filteren-volgens-type-viewneed to be themed better.
Maybe your theme has the appropriate css which produces better looking output, like your nice theme does.
Thanks for clarifying, I see what you mean now.
Typically, authors will include custom view templates which only apply to the Views they prepackage within their theme… this is why the styles don’t apply globally to every single view. To be honest, right now, Dawn falls into this category as well.
I do agree, premium themes should at least come with CSS for the “default” View outputs and this would be easy for me to include in my update this week.
If I were you, I would wait until the update is online if you still plan on purchasing the theme. A lot is changing (new slider module, new page builder, upgrading to Bootstrap 3, wider grid) but the stylistic elements will have the same visual feel as the current version.
thanks, looking forward to see your upgrade!
Hi,
I have registered in the forum but its still waiting for an approval. I have just made a fresh install of Drupal followed the instructions for a new install. However, when I’m trying to navigate pages, I’m getting a page not found error.
Hi nolsen06,
Do you have Clean URLs enabled on your Drupal installation? A “page not found” error is likely a result of Clean URLs being disabled, you’ll want to refer to the installation guide from drupal.org above and ensure Clean URLs are enabled on your Drupal installation.
thanks themeboutique.can you please approve my registration in the forum section? thanks in advance
Hi, I’ve already posted this question on forum, but there is no reponse. So I try again in the comment area.
I have some little worries about some notice messages that appear on every page on my site. The message is :
Notice: Undefined offset: 1 in include() (line 29 of D:\wamp\public_html\mydrupal\sites\all\themes\dawn\templates\nodes\node-blog-post.tpl.php).
I also notice that when I’m logged in as Administrator and view a blog post page, the links on the popular posts block are NOT clickable on Firefox. What happened ? And how to fix the problems ?
Thanks in advance.
Hi ocscwebapp,
I’m not online much over the weekends, sorry for the delay. A solution has been posted in your original forum topic:
http://support.themeboutique.com/node/793#comment-2857Hi, I really like your theme. The full installation with your sample data work fine. But when I install the theme on an existing website, some errors messages shown up on every page of Service content type.
Error messageNotice: Trying to get property of non-object in dawn_preprocess_page() (line 177 of D:\wamp\public_html\ocscgoodnex\sites\all\themes\dawn\template.php).
How to fix it ?
Hi ocscwebapp,
Have you tried to rename the Service content type after installing the “Dawn: Tools” module? What changes (if any) have you made since setting up the theme on your existing site?
This type of notice (not an error) shouldn’t show up by default. I would double check and make sure your “services” content type has a machine name of services and a title of Services. It sounds like this is the problem! If you have any questions, I’m here to help.
Thank you for you quickly reply. I tried to rename the Content type, but I didn’t see where we can modify the content type name in Drupal. Could you please let me know ? see I’m newbie.
For now, what I do is turn off Drupal “Logging and Errors” in the Development menu to hide this notice. I know it’s not a good solution, so please show me how to correct this problem step by step
Disabling logging/errors is a good temporary solution, and actually encouraged before launching your site anyways.
If you navigate to Structure > Content Types, you can see a list of all content types with both the Title and machine-name listed. There should be an edit link on this page to modify the content type settings.
If you find that there is a content type titled Services, try uploading and saving a masthead image for Services pages in your theme settings at Appearance > Settings.
This notice shows up because the theme is searching for a masthead image for this content type, but can’t find an image for the “Services” content type. Uploading an image will be a good way to test the feature and make sure it functions properly. You can always remove the image after running the test!
Fixed !! Really great support
Thank you very much.
What’s about this message warning ? This happen on every page.
Strict warning: Only variables should be passed by reference in include() (line 19 of D:\wamp\public_html\ocscgoodnex\sites\all\themes\dawn\templates\page.tpl.php).
What does it mean ? and how to fix it ?
Hi ocscwebapp,
Sorry for the delayed response—we recently made some big updates to the theme to make it more lightweight, one of which was removing the Context module which changes how some blocks are rendered within the theme.
This message is related to the “user login” block in the header bar which opens in a modal window with the user login form. You’ll want to change line 19 of dawn/templates/page.tpl.php from:
<?php print render(drupal_get_form('user_login_block')); ?>
to:
<?php $block = drupal_get_form('user_login_block'); print render($block); ?>
If for some reason the issue persists, I’m here to help.
Wow, fixed !!
Thanks again for the smooth support as usual. And thanks for the great work
Hello, looking through the comments there were some people asking about bootstrap 3 and you replied:
Once these new products are online, all older items will be updated with the new modules—with Dawn specifically, I plan on adding Bootstrap 3 and expanding the grid to 1170px as well. The updates to Dawn can be expected late August after some of the new themes are online.
Can you give me an update on this as I don’t see any Bootstrap 3 yet?
Thanks
No updates are available, sorry. It will be ready when it’s ready, I don’t have a “deadline” as of now. Like I said, new products take priority, I need to make sure I can pay my bills first.
When you see some new products online, and page builders start being integrated with some of our themes, you’ll know a BS3 update is coming soon. I’d give it a few more weeks (hopefully).
I just purchased this theme but I don’t see the theme setting’s page as described in the documentation. I only see another setting’s page that doesn’t allow me to change settings. What should i do?(I’m already subscribed to the forum, but i’m waiting to be verificated )
Hey jlyco1975,
That is strange, it sounds like a CSS conflict—this should be easy to resolve.
I just approved your account on the forums, could you post a screenshot of what you see on the “Appearance > Settings” page along with the name of the admin theme you’re using?
I posted the screeshots on the forum.
Hi there, I am interest to purchase this theme. but I need it to RTL language (Hebrew) do you have an out of the box support for RTL, menu logo, side bar, etc. all align to right? can you send me a live demo of RTL site with this theme?
I would buy your themes if they supported bootstrap 3. If you have plans for that (with a date) please let us know – it will definitely improve sales. Also, please indicate if you will automatically update to Bootstrap 3.
Hi shawnholt,
Thanks for your feedback.
We have several new themes coming out in late July / August, some of which will support Bootstrap 3. Everything is being held up by a page builder module I’ve been working on, along with the CodeCanyon version of the Revolution Slider module.
Once these new products are online, all older items will be updated with the new modules—with Dawn specifically, I plan on adding Bootstrap 3 and expanding the grid to 1170px as well. The updates to Dawn can be expected late August after some of the new themes are online.
Also, my final question (I promise)
I wanted to change the title of the induvidual portfolio item, so to change from “PORTFOLIO” at the top of the page, to something else…..
Could you help me out with that as well how to edit the service get a quote button please? I want it to be linked to the contact us page.
Thanks a lot!
Hi toldham,
I answered the question related to the “get a quote” button in the previous comment. Regarding the “PORTFOLIO” text, this can be modified at Appearance > Settings > Masthead > Portfolio.
If you enter a blank value for the “title” field on the portfolio masthead, the node title will be used. Otherwise, the value entered in this field will override the node title. Let me know if you run into any problems!
Great theme
What is the best way to control the order of the service items?
Is it dictated by the last updated field?
Thanks
Hi toldham,
As of now, the service view on the homepage is ordered by the “last updated” time, and the services “landing page” is ordered alphabetically.
Some customers on the support forums have simply added a field called “Weight” to the services content type that holds an integer value, and then change the filter on the view from “last updated” to the weight field.
Doing this will let you order the frontpage services as you please, and you won’t need to rely on a default filter in Drupal.
If you need a specific order, this is the route I would take. Let me know if you have any questions!
Sorry mate, I have worked out the above question, but I am now having issues with the “get a quote” box that appears on the services page.
Coudl you tell me how to make that link to the contact us page?
Thanks
Hi toldham,
The “get a quote box” can be found on the Dawn: Services view at Structure > Views. On the “Content: Title” field, you’ll want to edit the “Rewrite Results” option to add a link to the contact page.
I recommend using the absolute URL to the contact page for this link, instead of just ”/contact”.
If you have any questions, I’m here to help.
