Great theme,
But I have installed the theme with the demo content, and now I am trying to upload images for the blog articles, and it wont upload them….
They appear on the edit tab of the blog post, but when you view the blog post they dont appear…. help :/

There is a fix available for this issue on our support forum which can be downloaded here. You’ll want to place the contents of the zip in the sites/all/modules folder. After installing this module, you’ll just have to re-upload the image and everything should work as expected.

Only issue I am having now, is I am uploading new items into my portfolio, but they are not displaying in the portfolio-4c view….
the old content is displaying fine, just no new portfolio content is appearing

Make sure the “subtitle” field on the portfolio item isn’t empty. Views is expecting all fields to return a value, it sounds like this is what’s happening.
I have an update I’m releasing to the theme tomorrow, I should probably make the “subtitle field” required or rewrite the Views to make this field optional. I apologize for the confusion!

Perfect, since you offered
I have changed the portfolio, to be called R services, I have updated the URL in views, then updated the menu, and this all works great.
Only two issues, on the induvidual portfolio item, there are 3 navigation icons (forward/back/ back to full portfolio list).
My issues are, since I have updated the URL to not be /portfolio-4c the middle navigation button, now returns a 404, since I updated the URL, and I am unsure how to resolve this.
Secondly, on each portfolio item, it still displays portfolio at the top, I would like to customise this to read “R services”.
If you could tell me how to resolve either, I would again, be very grateful
Both of these values can be changed in the theme settings (found at Appearance > Settings):
1. The “portfolio path” can be changed under the “General > Variables” tab
2. The “Portfolio” text at the top of each node can be changed under the “Header > Masthead > R Services > Title” option.
You will also need to change the “machine name” of your new content type to r_services, and rename the dawn/templates/nodes/node--portfolio.tpl.php file to node--r-services.tpl.php.
Once the machine name and portfolio template have been renamed, clear the Drupal cache at Configuration > Performance to make Drupal aware of the renamed template file.

One last thing related to question #2:
When you rename the node—portfolio.tpl.php file, make sure you modify line 10 of this file:
->entityCondition('bundle', 'portfolio');
The ‘portfolio’ value will need to be changed to ‘r_services’ to ensure the pager can find the nodes for the renamed content type. You’ll also need to edit any view that is filtering by the “Portfolio” content type to make sure the View points to the new name.
Hi, I have a problem translating main meny “Home” menu item. Even if I translate the manu item will not change. Have read that this is a common issue on some drupal 7 themes. Do you have an easy solution? Here is my site http://www.sbftest.se

The site was working fine, then I transfered it, and now the logo and the menu bar appear staggered, and not in line.

Thanks for your kind words and support! Around line 58 of dawn.css you’ll find the following code:
.logo {
margin: 17px 0;
float: left;
}
On your site, however, you have:
.logo {
margin:;
float: left;
}
It looks like you modified this element at some point after buying the theme. Right now, the float: left; property isn’t being applied to the logo because the margin has an undefined value.
Once you add a margin value (or remove the margin all together), everything should function as expected again. Let me know if you run into any problems!

When I view your CSS file in the browser, it looks like your change was made (just like you mentioned)—however, when I inspect the .logo element with Chrome’s Developer Tools, the change you made is not applied.
It looks like you need to clear Drupal’s cache at Configuration > Performance. After the cache has been cleared, the updated CSS file should render on the page.
I am afraid I have done this already – I just did it again just in case, but everything still remains the same….
Any ideas?

I apologize for the confusion, but I’m absolutely certain that the CSS I provided you is the correct CSS. The problem is that your changes aren’t showing up on http://www.test.mcandrewmartin.com/
You’ll notice that the 17px margin you added to dawn.css isn’t being applied either, which shows that this is definitely a cache issue. What happens if you move that .logo { } class to the very bottom of the file? Or if you temporarily delete your dawn.css file, and then re-upload the file?
I have completely forgotten how to install the demo content. Can someone refresh my memory. Theme installs just fine, I don’t see any option for demo content. Manual for Dawn Theme, where is that??

When you unzip the download from ThemeForest, there should be three directories inside of the zip file:
- Assets
- Documentation
- Licensing
You’ll want to open up the Documentation/index.html file for step by step installation instructions (found in the very first section). If you have any additional questions, please don’t hesitate to ask.
i apologize if this is not the most appropriate place to place this, but my support account is still pending and i need an answer asap. i have had this theme installed for a few months. however, a new contributed module was faulty and has required me to reset my site with a brand new install…
the problem is: when i run though the standard new install instructions, and attempt the backup/migrate step i get this error…
PDOException: SQLSTATE23000: Integrity constraint violation: 1217 Cannot delete or update a parent row: a foreign key constraint fails in backup_migrate_destination_db_mysql->_restore_db_from_file() (line 198 of /home/content/71/10299071/html/velocitydata.com/sites/all/modules/backup_migrate/includes/destinations.db.mysql.inc).
i’m using a clean install of drupal 7.26 and the latest download of the dawn theme.

I just approved your account on the forums.
It sounds like the backup is timing out before it fully restores, which leads me to believe this is an issue with memory.
Before you run the import with Backup/Migrate, go to “Reports > Status Report” in the Drupal admin and check what your PHP memory limit is set to. You may need to increase this value (I suggest at least 128M).

Hi, I have an issue with loading the image in the portfolio content type, the generated url is not the good one when the image is created. I have a “system” instead of “sites/default” in the url generated for picking the url. The theme comes with a “full demo” option which includes an exact replica of the version you see on the demo site, including the demo images. The only part that is not included in the demo is the “services” icons, we are not allowed to distribute these due to licensing restrictions but you are free to download these icons and add them to the site on your own.
All you will need to do is follow the installation instructions and you’ll have the demo setup in minutes. Let me know if you have any questions!
Hello, having some problems here…
Getting an error on certain nodes: Notice: Trying to get property of non-object in dawn_preprocess_page() (line 195 of {our site path}/dawn/template.php).
Here’s the part of template.php giving the error:

Right at the first ”$masthead =”. Consequently, our mastheads aren’t working on a number of pages.

I’m willing to bet these issues are occurring on prepackaged content types which were perhaps renamed? There are two possible ways we can handle this:
1. Disable the “Dawn: Features” module and then rename the “machine name” for any renamed content type so the machine name and content type title match up. Unfortunately, the “Features” module disables the option to rename content types, which is why this issue is occurring.
2. Send an e-mail through my author profile page, or open a thread on the support forum, with a list of both the machine name and title for each content type you are having issues with. I can then send you some PHP code which will be added to template.php to resolve the problem.

Followed up via the contact form on your author page. I see there is another thread on your support forum for this same issue but there is no reply as of yet.
Also failed to mention that we’ve tried your instructions as per #1 above and still have the issue. It’s only happening on the Portfolio pages.

Regarding the support forum, it appears there is only one unanswered ticket for Dawn which is unrelated to this issue. Anonymous users can only see the first post of a thread on the forums, responses are only visible to registered users. This is probably why the ticket appears to be unanswered.

That’s correct, the latest download package here on ThemeForest will have all of the most recent files. Just be sure not to override any files you’ve made CSS or JS changes to (ie. dawn.css ir dawn.js) and you should be good to go.
The only updates that have been made to the database are for contributed modules, so you can update those like you would normally update a module on drupal.org through the Drupal admin panel. If you have any questions, I’m here to help.

I want to delete text : ” Dawn is a Premium Drupal Theme packed with advanced options. Buy your copy today!”.
But when I have deleted in Structure > Blocks and deleted the “Homepage Callout” block. I get error : “Notice: Trying to get property of non-object in block_block_view() (line 245 of /Applications/XAMPP/xamppfiles/htdocs/xxx/modules/block/block.module).”.

What’s happening is the homepage context (defined at Structure > Context) is still looking for the homepage callout block.
If you just go to Configuration > Performance in Drupal and click “Clear all caches”, this will update that context and the error you see will no longer appear. Let me know if you have any questions!

I’ll answer each question individually below:
1. To remove the “My Account” button in the header bar, delete lines 42-48 of the dawn/templates/regions/region--navigation.tpl.php file.
2. To remove the “Tag Cloud” block, navigate to Structure > Context and edit the global context. Here you an remove the blocks which are applied to the footer regions.

In the other case, I have changed the header as an opaque block and it resulted in a shorter height for the slideshow. Please advice how I can move the slideshow down so that I still get the full slideshow size ?

Around line 50 of dawn.css file, there will be a margin-bottom: -62px; property on the #header element. Here you can decrease the margin to move the slider block down.

A standalone version of the module for CodeCanyon is in the works, I hope to release the module around the new year. Currently, the module isn’t available for sale as an individual product.
If you can’t wait until the new year you could always just buy the jQuery version for $12 and implement the plugin manually.
Incorporating the jQuery plugin of course wouldn’t have the drag/drop editor like the Drupal version has, but that’s the easiest option I can think of aside from waiting for the standalone Drupal version on CodeCanyon.

Perhaps if we bought your Dawn theme, we could strip out the module and integrate it into our site? Would that work?
Yeah, that would work—some minor tweaks might be required to integrate the module with another theme, but it’s certainly doable (I can help with this on our support forum).
Our Dawn/Mentor themes both use the first version of our module, however our newest theme (ThemeTastic) features an updated version which is based off of the Entity API. The ThemeTastic version also generates blocks automatically instead of relying on Views to create slider blocks.
The drag/drop editor on all three themes is virtually the same, however, and both Dawn/Mentor will soon be upgraded to the new version. I figured I’d note the differences before you make a decision.
