Regarding shortcodes and footer, please note, footer section is controlled with dedicated widget areas and widgets assigned to them. So, you will need to use a text widget in widget area in which you want to show social icons.

Now, for the shortcode, you can obtain it by simply generating it on some temporary page. All you have to do is to switch to classic mode of page editor and in text tab locate and copy shortcode for social media. Then, paste this shortcode into previously mentioned text widget.

Bodega is truly a multipurpose theme which you can easily modify through the back-end settings and achieve almost any layout possible. The main trait of this site you had sent as an example would be a grid layout. This is set with one click directly from the admin panel. However, to judge for yourself if the theme is the right fit, we’d advise going over our demos and see if that’s something you relate to and if any of these demos would serve as a strong starting point since you can import any of them and have some palceholder content to work with right of the bat.
