Another web designer purchased this theme 4 years ago…. I am now needing to perform the update. We don’t have the original license code. How do enter the forums without this code? Thanks, Eric
Hi,
Once the theme is purchased, future updates are free with that account, so unfortunately the way ThemeForest.net is setup only the owner of that account can have access to the theme that was originally purchased. Since you’re not in touch with the person that purchased the theme originally, it’s impossible to get updates for that license. In general, it’s best for the person that owns the website to have purchased their own license of the theme, that way they will be independent of anyone maintaining their website for future updates or access to support forum since the purchase code is required to register in the support forum.

Hi Just updated Udesign to Version: 2.7.13 and now getting Warning: call_user_func_array() expects parameter 1 to be a valid callback, class ‘Latest_Posts_Widget’ does not have a method ‘flush_widget_cache’ in /hermes/bosoraweb033/b1716/mysite/wp-includes/plugin.php on line 496
Please provide a fix or a solution
Many thanks
Hi,
Thank you for choosing the “uDesign” theme!
Please post any support related questions to the theme’s support forum.
In my effort to provide you with better support I’ve setup an independent Forum where all comments are searchable, you can upload images and insert code with code-highlighting, etc.

Hello,
I would like to know if user login/logout system is integrate in your template ?
Hi,
not sure I understand your question, this is a WordPress theme so the login is an integral part of both WordPress and the theme inherently. If you mean if there are any custom login locations, the theme offers a login widget which you can add to any widget area, you can see an example of it in the Contact page sidebar: http://dreamthemedesign.com/themes/u-design/contact/
Regards
Thank for your reply, in another template i can add login link in top menu and when user is logged this link becomes a logout link.
Regards
I see what you mean. I have done that with one of my other themes, it’s not hard to do but in uDesign I had not added this particular feature to the menu, sorry.

Hi AndonDesign, in your template preview a shop link open a new tab. It’s possible to disable open in a new tab ?
Regards
that’s because I put together the shop demo site as a totally different WordPress instance so I wanted it to open in a new tab but you could have it open in the same, absolutely.

I am an officer with a local nonprofit, the Western Pennsylvania Mushroom Club. We have developed a system for identifying a particular category of wild mushrooms by applying various filters. You can find the Alpha version at this URL:
http://boletes.wpamushroomclub.org/WP/We’ve gotten it to the point where we need to select a proper theme in order to move forward. I’m writing to you because your theme looks like a likely candidate but being sure of that is beyond me.
I’ve struggled a bit to come up with an analogy, but here is my best effort. It’s sort of like a specialized catalog for finding clothes that won’t be bought on-site. Imagine someone handed you an unlabeled shirt and then pointed you to a catalog that listed every piece of clothing manufactured in the world, along with where to buy it. How do you find your particular shirt? First you filter for color; then for short sleeves; then for buttons; then for type of collar; etc. Eventually you will limit the possibilities down to a manageable number that you can look up in more detail to identify the particular one you have. The actual buying would take place via a retailer, however, so all of those features (checkout system, inventory controls, tax calculations, shipping, etc.) are extraneous or even in-the-way. A museum catalog might be a closer analogy than a retail store, if you include all the search features.
The basic front page is a straightforward table showing all the mushrooms. That is all we need and really all we want. A grid of differently sized boxes would make this site harder to use, not easier. The boxes need to contain a thumbprint photo, a single latin name (Genus species), a single common name if there is one, and a very brief description of key features. It should be possible to fit that description into a 100-character box if that would help to keep the size under control.
In the ideal world the grid would be able to shrink down to just names if you have too many results (say more than 50), expand to smaller boxes with more data for a mid-level number of results (perhaps 10-50), and even larger boxes for when you get to a very limited number of possibilities. This is not essential, but would be cool as heck.
Another great feature would be a “manual elimination” filter. When working with a particular specimen the filter will very often produce a list of 20 possibilities, 15 of which I can eliminate through my own knowledge even though the features are close enough to pass through the general filters. Having a way to tell the system “never mind these ones” would be really nice.
One issue we’ve run into is the need to create and use a variety of custom fields. For example, many mushrooms have developed multiple genus and species names over the years. My database has columns for “Genus 1,” “Genus 2,” and “Genus 3” with similar columns for alternative species and common names. On the front page I want it to automatically use “Genus 1”, “Species 1” and “Common Name 1” (if there is a common name). That would be a lot more convenient than adding yet another column for “front page latin name”, which is essentially what we’ve had to do so far. In addition there are a variety of text fields that ought to remain separate on the database even though they might go together on the site. Creating custom product fields seems to be very complicated for some systems, but easy for others. The same goes for being able to customize what fields go onto the catalog page. We need one where both of those steps are easy.
In the same vein, I have all the data entered on a massive Excel file. We need to be able to import that data directly, or at least through some kind of proxy like a .csv file.
Next, we would like to be able to color code the boxes in some way to show edibility (avoid, iffy, good or choice). Our favorite idea is a colored frame around and/or text in each front-page box, but any obvious indicator such as a banner would do. If necessary I can work around this by giving each photo an appropriately colored frame, but that would be a pain.
The other key front-page feature is the filtering system. We have a large number of filters, most of which will need to be in an accordion collapse-or-expand structure. A few could be done with sliders, but the essential element is a user’s ability to cleanly and obviously apply and then remove the different filters. We also need to have the ability to adjust the order of those filters.
There will also be a main page for each individual mushroom that must be able to list all the information we have; extra photos; and an automatic list of how it is categorized for each filter. E.g.,
CAP COLOR. If you apply the following filters, this mushroom… • The primary cap color is White, Buff, or Light Gray IS FILTERED OUT • The primary cap color is Yellow to Orange CONTINUES TO BE LISTED • The primary cap color is Red, Pink, or Purple CONTINUES TO BE LISTED • The primary cap color is Some Shade of Brown CONTINUES TO BE LISTED • The primary cap color is Black, Dark Brown, or Dark Gray IS FILTERED OUT
In that example I’d want the “Filtered Out” ones to turn red while the others stay black, or some such. I can send you a sample MS Word page if it would help.
Technically the site will be hosted on WordPress, and the theme must be woocommerce compatible, must have a responsive layout that would allow us to use it on a mobile device, and must be simple enough for moderately-skilled amateurs to build the product without an outside consultant.
Triple bonus points get awarded to any theme that can spit out a mobile app people could use in the woods while out of contact with the Internet. I understand that this is little more than a fantasy at this point in time, but if it’s a feature that might get included in a future version that would be fantastic.
So… is your theme really the one that can do all that efficiently? I simply can’t tell from what I find at the store(s). FWIW, if this works out it could be a model for similar sites for everything from birdwatching to identifying trees or even other kinds of mushroom. That wouldn’t be a bad market to corner!
Many thanks in advance. Please feel MORE than free to contact me for additional detail.
Hi,
this sounds like a custom solution that will need specific to your project coding. I don’t think you’ll find a $50-60 theme to do all these things.
Regards
Thanks for getting back to me so quickly.
That isn’t a surprise. I don’t expect a perfect fit. My problem is to figure out what parts a given theme CAN do, and what parts it doesn’t. Getting a color-coded frame, e.g., seems like a stretch. But customizable product data fields, accordion-structured filters, and the ability to say what fields go into the front-page display grid? There ought to be a theme somewhere with all of those three, right?
So which elements from my wish list are standard in your theme, and which would require customizing?
P.S. My compliments on the product. I’ve scanned through a bunch and this looks like a particularly good one.
Thanks, I would say you need a plugin with powerful filtering system to allow you to do extensive sorting. Did you check if WooCommerce has anything close to that, I know they offer paid extensions to their main plugin? If you need to discuss this further feel free to email me. You can send me an email through my Profile page.

Hi,
Just a quick questions regarding the theme update:-
My client had purchased this theme few years back and now he is approaching us to update the theme to the latest version:
Current Version: Version 2.0.1 – Updated: 21.07.2013
Need to update with: Version 2.7.12 – Updated: 06.07.2015
Client haven’t made any changes in the theme files, website is running mostly with portfolio section and now he want to make it responsive and other features currently your theme offers.
So can I just update the theme folder with the current theme as it is ? or do I need to do something technical ??
Thanks in Advance
Hi,
Please refer to the update instructions in the theme’s documentation or in the forum, probably “Method 2” is best for your case: http://dreamthemedesign.com/u-design-support/discussion/13/how-do-i-update-the-theme
If your client has purchased the theme they should be able to register with the support forum and read the information there or post there.

Hi, On my My Portfolio page, if a user clicks on any portfolio item, instead of opening single view portfolio page, it magnifies the image of the portfolio. How to change that?

Pre-sales – Hi, does your theme allow me to create a left nav? Not for the blog (although there too), but for the main site?
Thanks
Hi,
the only left nav you can have is in the left sidebar, but I’m not sure that’s what you mean, please confirm?
Regards
Yes, so long as there’s a left sidebar, we can have that nav there. This is for pages & not just posts, right?
This is built in with widgets, not a shortcode, right?
You don’t have any demo pages showing this, so we are asking.
Thanks
Yes, I meant widgets in the sidebar, WordPress has one called “Custom Menus”, check it out, it allows you to pick any menu through the widget. For an example of what it could look like check out this page: http://dreamthemedesign.com/themes/u-design/features/shortcodes/buttons/

I am trying to set an image as a background image. I’ve purchased u-design but am not able to set a picture as a backdrop. I’m also having problems with my logo, only a tiny bit of it is visible – Please help!

Hi.
I have a client with U-design theme version 1.4.2 from 2011.
I updated to the newest WordPress and her background colors, sliders, and other things are not displaying.
Would I be able to upgrade to the newest version so it will work with the current WordPress?
I don’t know if she has access to support through the theme purchase. If not, would I be able to buy the upgrade? And, I don’t know if any customizations were made to the style or php sheets.
Your help on the best course of action would be appreciated.
Hi,
Once the theme is purchased, future updates and access to support are included with that account, so unfortunately the way ThemeForest.net is setup only the owner of that account can have access to the theme and support that was originally purchased.
In general, it’s best for the person that owns the website to have purchased their own license of the theme, that way they will be independent of anyone maintaining their website for future updates or access to support forum since the purchase code is required to register in the support forum.
With the version that old she definitely needs to update the theme, there were a couple of serious security fixes since so it’s not safe to run the site with such an outdated version of the theme.
Regards
Thank you. Would the support section have info that would help me figure out if any changes were made to the style or php sheets? A child theme was not created and I’m not sure if the designer made changes directly to the theme.
Thank you very much for your response.
Well, if you or anyone else have modified any core theme files in the past (those could be CSS, PHP, JS or ther files) but you haven’t been keeping track of your changes then you can use some ‘diff’ tools to locate exactly what was modified and thus be able to re-apply those changes after the update. here’s a couple of tools for comparison that you can use: Beyond Compare http://www.scootersoftware.com/ for PC and Changes http://bitbq.com/changes/ for MAC. But you’ll need to have an original (untempered with) version of the theme to compare it to the one you have, make sure the versions match of course
Cheers

Pre sale question. How customizable is the post type category. For example portfolio and the slug portfolio, could that be changed to something else for example businesses. Dont mind editing template files. Thanks in advance
Hi,
yes, you should be able to change the slug, no problem, it doesn’t need to be “portfolio” in order for the Portfolio section to work, could be anything.

Hi. I really like your theme but is there a demo with a sticky header/menu for mobile?
Hi,
the sticky menu is only for desktop view and not mobile that’s why you’re not seeing it in the demo, however I believe it’s easy to make the “Responsive Menu 2” which you see here: http://idesignmywebsite.com/u-design-shop/shop/ to be sticky with CSS by making it’s position “fixed”.

Hello Andon, I have the Qualifire theme and Udesign. The website I have which uses Qualifire has a few hundred posts on it but because the theme is not mobile search friendly in google I need to update/change it. Is it a simple process to switch over from Qualifire to Udesign or will the entire site need to be rebuilt (which would take months)

Hi,
Any one can help me active the Ess. grid plugin. It always show the purchase code invalid.
Thanks,
Hi,
when you obtain the Ess. Grid plugin through a theme as it is in your case, you don’t have to worry about purchase code, you’ll be getting updates through my theme. The Purchase code thing is only for people who have purchased the plugin directly themselves which you could also do if that’s what you wish but you don’t have to.

Hi, I does your theme support Shopify? (I am selling an E-book that will also use SendOwl to stamp and secure my file transfers to the user).
Does your theme also allow additional HTML Coding? I would like to include buy now buttons and contact form from (HealCode – that links to my business software – mindbody).
Please let me know? Thank you!
Hi,
I haven’t looked into it recently but my understanding is that Shopify is independent platform from WordPress, and they offer buttons that you could add to your site, so in that respect you should be able to add those buttons, and there should be Shopify widgets that you could add with plugins.
Yes, the theme allows adding HTML coding, it offers its own action hook/filter API which I’ve posted a tutorial for in the support forum. This API used with a “child” theme is a great way to customize the theme.

How can I duplicate one of the page templates to create more pages? I am trying to create similar pages for layout, but that differ on the sidebars and I have run out of templates (there are only 9). Is there a way to do this or a step by step you can point me to? I would like to dupe a template to create Page Template 9, 10 and so on so that I can vary the photos & info only on the sides from page to page. Can you help?

in general all theme settings are saved in the database at all time so updating the theme should not affect them, BUT always a good idea to do regular backups of your entire WP site, there are plenty of plugins to choose from for that sort of things.
