I am finding this theme somewhat limited.
How do I either:
1) be able to insert PNG images and other content into a nectar slider / page header (instead of just a set Title, sub title and buttons).
OR
2) Make the first row content behave like a header (including background header transparency). This allows me to do what I want in the first row without worrying about your limitations for headers / nectar sliders.
A good example of what I want to do is this: http://focuslabllc.com/ (To allow me to put PNG image and multiple headers, alter layout etc.)

2. You can also force the transparency on any first row in the page header settings metabox available at the bottom of every edit page screen

Hi, When I try to insert HTML in the Normal header it actually messes up the page – its no longer fully editable and the HTML I inserted has become PART of the Edit page. (for something as simple as putting in a button:
IGNORE THIS – I FOUND THE SOLUTION BY USING SINGLE QUOTES INSTEAD OF DOUBLE QUOTES. BUT IS THERE ANY WAY TO USE A DIFFERENT SLIDER LIKE REVOLUTION SLIDER?

You can use revolution slider on any page you desire as long as you have the plugin installed. It’ll be available as a visual composer element

Do you have the force transparent header option checked at the bottom of your edit page screen? If so please open a ticket in regards with your admin credentials so I can take a further look:

Hi, I purchased this theme a while ago but have only just started putting it together. I have a few questions;
1. My first page section has a black background, but there is a white border above it between the slider and the first page black background, how can i remove it?
2. I would like to add a world news feed’ like a latest news stories feed from the BBC or similar. Is it possible, ideally it would be a horizontal scroll and the same style font and colours as the rest of the site. Is this possible and how?
3. Is it possible to add a logo over the nectar slider other than just header text?
4. Is it possible to add social icons to the header?

1. Make sure you have the row type set to full width background that’s holding your Nectar Slider
2. This would require the use of a plugin as of now
3. Yes, you can add an img tag directly into the caption box like so:

4. As of now you’d need to activate the secondary header in order to get access to this but the idea to allow them in the main nav is on the wishlist

You can disable the off canvas menu in your theme options panel > header tab – have you already turned that off?
Hello, How do I recreate a full page display like this (above text on a page) using a content row. (similiar to this: http://www.dtelepathy.com/work/kountable/ ) If you use a standard full page header or a nectar slide, both are very limited in what I can do IN the actual header / slide. I want to be able to put a PNG logo, formatted text, etc and I don’t see how I can do this in a header / nectar slider. This can be don in a standard contact ROW, but I don’t see how I can make the content row full screen. HELP!
p.s. it is offered in visual composer – but I can’t seem to find it in SALIENT visual composer.

You can add any html you desire in a nectar slide in the caption box – as of now the full screen row option isn’t offered in Salient VC but it’s on the wishlist

A couple of questions on mobile view…
1) If I select ‘header sticky on mobile’ and have the off canvas menu on, the hamburger menu on the left (which houses the main menu for the site) disappears in mobile view. It comes back if I untick ‘header sticky on mobile’. Is that on purpose? Can I have a sticky header AND the left hamburger menu on mobile?
2) Trying to replace the icon for the hamburger menu of the off canvas menu on the right on mobile. I can change it easily in desktop view in the header.php file but it seems to be called somewhere else when <670px width?

Is there a way to add the call to action bar on specific pages? I want it on some (not all) of my portfolio items, and some (again not all) of my pages.
I’m guessing the best way to do it, is to build it manually using VC, and that also works fine for normal posts and pages. But not portfolio items, as the bar won’t span the full with of the page, due to the sidebar.
I know I can enable “Full Width Portfolio Item Layout” in the Project Configuration, but I like the sidebar, and would prefer to have both (as in, the CTA-bar between the sidebar and the footer).
Is that possible?

You can use the global CTA section of the options panel but you would need to hide it with css on the projects you didn’t want it on

I have not received any communication in WordPress that the template is to be updated? How do I update? Will I lose my settings?custom css?
You need to either download the theme again from there and update manually or use the Envato toolkit plugin https://premium.wpmudev.org/blog/how-to-update-themeforest-themes-with-the-envato-wordpress-toolkit/
You won’t lose any of your theme settings or css as long as you have not modified any core files
I installed Envato-wordpress-toolkit. But it does not say that I need to update Salient (6.1.65). I already have the latest version? Social sharing does still do not (does not show how many people have shared the post) 
The current version is 6.1.7 – released on nov 25th http://themenectar.com/changelogs/salient.html if the toolkit isn’t showing that you could also download the theme again from here and upload it via FTP or the wp admin > appearance > themes section

Once I changed the layout to Template to Home the whole site became non responsive on mobile?
Site on iPhone 6 works great. Site on iPhone 6 plus is broken (navigation, slider, content,etc)

I’m trying to customize the Text Block to have different padding in the desktop version between the top and right sides. Everything is working fine except for “padding-right: 2%;” for desktop-only. (I’ve applied extra class names for desktop-only and mobile-only).
Any thoughts?

Trying to insert a video lightbox for a vimeo video (http://clearpointdesigns.com/nycdjs/) under the slider, left side of row. I’ve tried inserting with shortcode, via VC’s buttons for Video, but i must be missing something. Can you either send clear step-by-step directions for inserting a 4/12 width video that pops out via lightbox or tell me what I’m doing wrong? Thanks so much in advance.

Thanks. I still don’t understand. I received two different answers from you but neither is working. The above code is straightforward enough but maybe I’m missing where it is best placed. One answer said use a text block, the other said used the nectar slider. Neither seems to be a complete answer.
I’m assuming I’m missing something. Let’s back up to basics: I’m editing the home page. I create a row. I add 3 columns, the first of which should be a video link (an embed of a vimeo file, with a preview and play button overlay). It’s set to not play upon page load. When the visitor clicks on the play button, the video lightbox pops up to a larger version of the video and begins to play (without leaving the site). The next two columns have text boxes. How do I best set that up with your theme and VC?

That could be placed in a text block which was in a column with a BG image set or in a Nectar Slider slide to end up with your desired result

the off canvas menu used to be called the slide out out widget area in that version – if you want the fullscreen one as shown in the agency demo you would indeed need to upgrade though
