I recently purchased this theme- really liking it! Everything seems to be working as I planned. The only thing I was wondering is how to have the grid on the homepage be ‘featured’ posts only. On other themes I’d just make ‘featured’ a category and those would feed to the homepage but I wasn’t able to find that answer for 15zine. Thanks!

PS- I did not use the 15zine drag and drop option.

Hey Justintimms,

Happy New Year and thanks very much for choosing 15Zine :)

Sure that is possible! If you are using the latest version and go to Theme Options -> Homepage, you will find an option to select what posts to show everywhere (in the featured block and in the blog stlye below). If you aren’t on the latest version, check the documentation to learn how to get on the latest version.

Hope this helps.

Cubell

is there a way to have front page with infinite scroll, I have change the option on theme options but it doesn’t work!

I have read this version is limited on that option maybe next version? :)

Hey again,

If you are using the “latest posts” default WordPress homepage option, then yes that is possible in Theme Options -> Homepage. If using the 15Zine homepage builder, then it isn’t an option yet, but definitely on my to-do list :)

Cubell

Hello Cubell,

I would like to start off by saying thank you. I’ve gone through countless themes in my search for the perfect theme for my website. You’re theme is absolutely perfect and was just what I was looking for. I’m using the “Section B + “Section B Sidebar for some modules. I was wondering if it were possible to remove the gap left by the sidebar when in the situation that you choose not to have one and possibly extend the dimensions of the modules within that section as well so it doesn’t look out of place?

If this would require some custom coding that’s fine but I’d just want some reassurance before I go attempting or asking. If it’s not too much trouble to add in say the next update, a 50% width module B as well as a 50% width custom code module on say, Section A or C? It would really help me out if it were possible. Again, thank you for all you hard work creating this wonderful theme. :)

Hey IngeniousPocky,

Happy New Year :) And thanks very much for the kind words, it’s lovely to hear you like the theme so much!

Currently, Section B uses a sidebar, and the modules are designed in the widths they are due to the core design base I used on the theme. However, with that said, I will look at adding new modules over time so might try to look into 50% ones for the full-width sections!

Thanks again and I wish you an amazing 2016!

Cubell

Happy New Year to you as well.

I see, I’ve been using the column shortcode provided with the theme to accomplish what I wanted. I’m glad you’re considering my suggestion, it would really help out if those modules were added to the full-width sections. Until then if those modules are added, I’ll just use the column shortcode which works wonders. Thank you for all your hard work as well as for the amazing support and response. Enjoy your day!

You are welcome! I’m just happy to hear you’re enjoying the theme :)

Hello Mr Cubell,

I think I read somewhere that you’re planning on tweaking the dropcap feature as a bug is preventing it from appearing at present..? A quick request – would it be possible to have an option to switch it on across all posts with a further option in the post itself to switch it off, perhaps? :)

We keep discovering funky new things about 15zine. Said it before, will say it again – awesome work. Thank you. Our site is almost ready to launch – wp.buildering.net Looking forward to getting it up and running. :)

Hey Kiell,

Happy New Year :)

The dropcap bug was fixed in the last update, have you updated to it? If not, check the documentation that comes with the theme for the update instructions to get it.

I also had a look at your members page, but I’m slightly confused, it seems that page is assigned to BuddyPress’ members page, and also the meet the team page. Did you intend for this? Because that is what’s causing the placeholder to appear.

Cubell

Hey Cubell, Happy New Year also. :)

Thanks for your response. I think we were getting a bit confused with the Buddypress and ‘meet the team’ pages. Sorry for that!

Dropcaps all sorted. Looks great. :D

Spotted your response to user blankenho re the pagination problem as a result of upgrading to Wordpress 4.4.1. We’re experiencing the same issue. Confused the hell out of us! Hopefully we’ll get a fix soon.

You’re welcome, happy I could help and the dropcaps got sorted :) And I’m sure WordPress will be getting tons of messages regarding the pagination issue as it affects so many websites so I’m sure they’ll release 4.4.2 soon.

Hi Cubell

How do I delete created sidebars that are in widgets ?

Hey Qlc1234,

The way to delete a sidebar in WordPress is to go to Appearance -> Widgets, and remove all the widgets from the sidebar in question, that is the only way WordPress removes it from the database.

Cubell

Hi after comparing with others and reading through the comments, I would say this is the best magazine theme not only in terms of design but also:

Reasons:

1. following WordPress’ best coding practices

2. following social network sharing designs and never attempts to modify them as doing so infringe intellectual property.

3. moving away from stuffing the theme with shortcodes as it breaks the site when changing themes

4. not stuffing the theme with features that a plugin can handle

5. login/ join option is visible on mobile and its slides beautifully when you click on it.

6. when users login they are taken to their profile links without seeing WP backend..Again, beautiful.

7. the author is experienced in SEO and applies it around the theme. The white space, H1, etc. he knows it.

8. Im a fan of themehybrid and quoting Justin Tadlock made a big impression on me.

9. the author educates customers about the right thing to do instead of bloating his themes with every feature known to man.

-many other reasons i cannot think of the moment

Recently some themes are made around this theme’s design but they dont come very close to 15zine in terms of functionality and real modern design. But just like others I also have questions..

Are the plugins associated with the theme: flexslider, option tree, backstretch, and boxer regularly updated? With security vulnerabilities happening around, and people are taking covers by using popular frameworks, how safe are we to use 15zine? Besides, do you have schema microdata for articles too?

Im asking since I will buy your theme and stick with it for many years and buy another one from you if that theme allows me to switch easily…

Thank you for creating 15zine. It’s one of a kind design. Thank you for your valuable time.

Hey there,

Thank you so much for the interest and kind words. I work extremely hard to try to achieve all the things you list, and it’s really nice to hear someone recognize it.

Regarding your questions, I always keep the core scripts that the theme uses up to date, particularly Option Tree. But the truth is, the theme is as safe as you can get, but new vulnerabilities are always being discovered and as WordPress is so popular, hackers target it hard. The only thing you can do is stuff like this:

https://premium.wpmudev.org/blog/wordpress-security-tips/

But always remember that no site is unhackable, but with tips like that, you are decreasing your chances at least.

And in case you are interested in my theme pipeline, I will be releasing a new personal photo magazine theme (something along the lines of my Ness theme) in January, and then I will work on another big magazine theme that should take a couple of months to be finished. And that one will be another alternative to the Valenti and 15Zine themes. And I will definitely do my best to make it a smooth transition to upgrade to it :) Although I will also say that Valenti and 15Zine will continue to receive love and care through further updates.

Thanks again and hope this helps!

Cubell

My pleasure! I’ll be listing down and pointing out those points in my extensive positive review soon so others can read it. You deserve that. I’m super excited to access 15zine’s features like Ajax Login, and Profile Links where users can’t access the backend…I will be creating an online magazine where people could sign up and participate in forums and create Buddypress accounts. Next to Kleo, your Buddypress customization is very beautiful too.

Security means a lot to me. And thank you for the tips, it helps a lot. What do you suggest about the schema microdata for articles, by the way?

Quite excited about your future projects especially the magazine theme you are going to launch. I will look nowhere else for modern looking themes!

That is really nice to hear :)

The theme does have schema meta. You can test it here:

https://developers.google.com/structured-data/testing-tool/

And enter this review post for example: http://15zine.cubellthemes.com/music/jazz/featured-image-full-screen/

You will see the Review schema has the “all good” message.

Thanks again and Happy Holidays!

Hi Cubell,

im interested to buy this theme, but i have a pre-sale question. Is it possible that the Module Block (Grid 4-6) link with a custom image to a category, or a site (not post)?

Thank you

Hey BeEnvy,

Thanks very much for the interest in 15Zine :)

There are some special modules that can show 1/3/6 tiles, and you can set them to show any image + text +link you want. It can link to a page/category/tag/external URL/etc.

You can see an example of the grid of 6 using custom links on this site using 15Zine:

http://talkingsoup.com/

If you scroll down to “Stories by theme” block, that is the custom link grid of 6.

Hope this helps :)

Cubell

Hi,

Is it possible to show the post title under the featured image like in your exemple “featured image standard” in the other featured image styles post ?

It is because i want the featured image to appear fullwidth without the title, author, date, category and views on it.

Thanks

Its #cb-par-wrap img { opacity: 1; }

And .cb-fis .backstretch img { opacity: 1;}

Hey again,

I know this was already answered in the support system, but in case another user reads this and is wondering the same thing, now you simply use:

.cb-fis .cb-fis-bg-ldd { opacity: 1; }

Hope this helps.

Cubell

Hi! Great theme, well done! But I have a few questions about it, if you’ll induldge me:

1. Is it possible to make the trending section into widgets? For instance, I think a Trending this week section in the sidebar (as a widget) would be pretty cool.

2. I notice that when you scroll down the page, the site’s logo slips into the nav bar. Is it possible to make that a permanent feature?

3. Speaking of the nav bar, is it customisable? For instance, could I add social media icons or a search bar to it?

4. Lastly, I notice that in “latest posts” mode, it displays in double columns/single columns down the page. Is it possible to customise the theme so it displays them singly displayed on the author pages, e.g. http://15zine.cubellthemes.com/author/chris/ (but with the sidebar on the right).

Once again, awesome theme. I’m seriously considering buying it, but wanna make sure it can do these things if I do.

Hey there,

Thanks for checking out 15Zine :)

1- Not literally speaking, but there is a 15Zine popular posts widget that can use the same data to show posts.

2- In the theme options there is an option that you can set to make that logo in the nav bar always be visible.

3- And there is an option to move the search/login buttons from the top menu into the main menu (they appear next to the trending menu). You can also change the text next to the icons, or remove the text and only leave icons. All options :) And yes, you can add social media icons as menu items too. There is an article in the support system which explains how to do this.

4- In the theme options there is an option to change what blog style the author pages use, so you could set any blog style (with sidebar), but I’m afraid the sidebar is coded to be on left.

I hope this helps!

Cubell

Thank you! That was very helpful. But re: #4, I didn’t mean to change the author page blog style, but the display of the latest posts on the homepage to a blog style listing (like the way they appear in the author page mode), but with the sidebar on the right.

You’re welcome :)

Ah I see! The latest posts homepage example is using that combo blog style option, but you can use any blog style you want. The author page on the demo is using blog style A, so you’d simply set your homepage to that and that is what it would look like (with sidebar on the right though).

Hope this helps.

Cubell

Hello Cubell,

I’ve now updated the theme to its latest release, but there is a mistake in it. My front page has an album section, as you can see here: https://i.gyazo.com/cc2031af7d32b6c5194f58833dae3daa.png

The latest album with the picture showing up gets its link appearing as well on the top of my page: https://i.gyazo.com/8a35f3a566a86471f3f1dd99739a2097.jpg

Can you see it on the left? The album link overlapping my top slider? I’m sending you print screens instead of the actual website link ( www.ponto-alternativo.com ), because I’ve now changed the album section to the 50% option – the error gets fixed that way, but I’d like to keep using the full width option.

Thank you!

Hey BeardBurn,

Thanks again for choosing 15Zine :)

You are absolutely right, this is a bug and I have already fixed and submitted the 2.2.3 update to Themeforest. As soon as it goes live, update to it and it’ll be fixed.

Thanks for reporting! And if you have Facebook, make sure to follow http://www.facebook.com/cubellthemes as I always announce updates there first.

Hi Cubell, ive just launched our new site using your theme but have noticed an issue. When viewing from a mobile device in this case a samsung s5 smart phone the site menu when clicked on comes up as a blank black screen help please :( Link to the site here www.bghnz.co.nz

Hey there,

I had a look and that is extremely strange! But I saw a memory running out message to do with WooCommerce and that is likely the cause – you are running out of memory. WooCommerce is memory heavy, so follow these steps: https://docs.woothemes.com/document/increasing-the-wordpress-memory-limit/

Hope it helps.

Cubell

Hi Cubell, sorry my fault i hadn’t allocated the mobile menu i assumed it defaulted to the main menu i have since created a new mobile menu and is working fine, Thanks you.

It’s no problem! I’m just happy you got it sorted :)

Dear Cubell, is there any tool for filtering the authors by some categories? Thanks!

Hi there,

I’m not 100% sure what you mean by that, but functionality like that would definitely be a WordPress option, and not a theme option. Can you do that when using the default WordPress theme? If you can, then you can also do it in 15Zine :)

Cubell

Hello Dear Cubell! I have just made an upgrade and looks like there’s a bug with dropcaps on my blog. Could you please check it? Here’s an example how it looks like: http://dorota.in/salatka-szopska/ There is more than one dropcap in every post and they also appear for photos.

Hi there,

Ah yes, I see what you mean, but I think that is a change in WordPress 4.4 for responsive images. This is the code loaded:

<img width="1200" height="800" src="http://dorota.in/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/salatka-szopska.jpg" class="attachment-large size-large wp-post-image" alt="Sa?atka szopska" itemprop="image" title="Sa?atka szopska" srcset="http://dorota.in/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/salatka-szopska-150x100.jpg 150w, http://dorota.in/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/salatka-szopska-800x533.jpg 800w, http://dorota.in/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/salatka-szopska-360x240.jpg 360w" sizes="(max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px" />

As you can see, the first src=”” is using the correct image (1920×1280) but the responsive code loads the 800 version. But this is all being done by WordPress, not the theme. And there isn’t much I or the theme can do to help I’m afraid.

Cubell

Thank you for explanation! I hope they will improve it soon. I tried to read and understand what had been explained here: https://make.wordpress.org/core/2015/11/10/responsive-images-in-wordpress-4-4/ but it is too hard for me unfortunately.

Thanks for sharing, I will need to read and try to understand/learn all that too!

Thanks for the awesome theme! Is there a way to have the logo appear in the top black menu like it is when it is on mobile?

Also is there a way to have the cb-header only show up on the homepage and have a logo appear in the black menu instead?

Thanks!

Hey Marcush90,

Thanks for choosing 15Zine and for the kind words :)

There isn’t a way to do that i’m afraid, the mobile logo in the menu is only on mobile. On desktop, you can have a logo in the main menu, and not set a logo in the main header area, although you could try by adding this custom CSS to hide the normal header logo everywhere except on homepage:

#logo { display: none!important; } .home #logo { display: block!important; }

Might do the trick!

Cubell

I just purchased the theme and really love it, but I can’t find a way to turn off the “Related Posts” section by Wordpress. I see where under ‘theme options’ I can change the theme specific related posts, but even when I turn that off, I still have a Related Posts section showing.

Under “Settings > Reading” I see where I can edit the way this related post section looks, but I can’t remove it. Any suggestions?

Never mind, found my answer. Thanks anyway!

Hey Jordanpwhite,

Thanks for choosing 15Zine and for the love for it :)

Happy you found the answer! Although for future readers who may face the same thing, if you have the Jetpack plugin installed, that plugin also has its own related posts module, and you need to go into the plugin settings to turn it off.

Cubell

Hi Cubell—

I have an email address for a contact in the footer of my page… Is there a way to make it a hyperlink? Right now they would have to copy and paste it.

http://thehistorytree.com

Thanks!!!

Hey again,

For things like this, please remember to search Google, as they aren’t theme questions :) Here is one result I found with the answer: https://wordpress.org/support/topic/adding-email-hyperlink-to-navigation-menu

Hope this helps.

Cubell

thanks!

No problemo :)

One more question – I have seen in “Press Start” (http://press-start.com.au) links to facebook and twitter on the navigation menu, right next to “About”. I couldn’t see possibility to make it in my website. Could you help me out? Thank you.

Hey again,

There is an article in the support system explaining the easy steps to do that, go on http://cubellthemes.ticksy.com and check the articles section to read it.

Hope it helps!

Cubell

Hi there,

I would like to make Section A (full-width) with first six posts like Senclaire has (http://senclaire.com). How can I do it?

Hey Kublu,

That is a new blog style option added in the latest theme update. Simply update to the latest version (instructions can be found in theme documentation) and you can use it :)

Cubell

Great, I’ve updated to the newest version. In which Section (A, B etc) can I find it? Thanks

That’s good to hear :) It isn’t in the sections, it’s a a new blog style. So if you edit a category/tag/default latest posts style homepages (like Senclaire) or if have the latest paginated block in the 15Zine homepage builder, then you can set it there too.

Cubell

Is it possible with this theme to have buddypress users post their own articles and assign featured images and tags to the article using a frontend popup box or page rather than the wordpress dashboard? Will buy if this is possible.

Hey Philgames3,

Thanks for checking out 15Zine.

Functionality like that really doesn’t belong in a theme, as it 100% belongs in plugins only, therefore, you will need to look for plugins that may do that. I recommend installing BuddyPress on a test site running WordPress default theme and testing plugins for those features, and if you can get it all working in the default theme, then it will almost definitely work in 15Zine too.

Hope this helps.

Dropcap problems, latest update: Hi Cubell! Please, check the link below -it seems to me you have problems with the dropcap. As you can see at the comments in that page, the dropcap style affects also to the comments area. Best!

http://www.sintemania.com/native-instruments-massive-diseno-de-baterias-bombos/

Sorry, sorry! It was my fault -now it’s solved. I moved the comments_template invocation outside the footer area. So the dropcap code is perfect… Thanks!

But… not, the dropcap option is still causing problems: just check these links, please:

http://www.sintemania.com/photosynthesis-engine-disena-tu-libreria-kontakt-gratis/ http://www.sintemania.com/helm-sintetizador-virtual-gratis-para-windows-os-x-y-linux/

As you can see, Cubell, the dropcap not only affects to the first paragraph, as also appears in other elements… What do you think about? Thanks

Hi again,

No problemo! I am aware of that, and to fix it contact me via my profile email and i’ll share the code to adjust the dropcap.
