I already have a plain html site running and would like to replace it with your theme but how do I prevent it from being live before everything looks ok ?

Hi Christophe,
what you need to do then is install a WordPress site where you’ll be building your new site somewhere on your server “unannounced” 
and once you build it and ready can then move it over to the live site location to replace the old one, there are plugins and methods that you can easily do that with. You could install it in a subfolder, for example if your current domain is www.example.com you could install the test site at www.example.com/newsite/ for example and work there. You could also put it under maintenance mode while working on it to make sure search engines don’t pick it up yet.

Unfortunately I am not going to be able to use your theme. I am working for a company and I have developed numerous wordpress website for this company. All of the templates I have purchased in the past have included demo content. The CEO of the company wants me to request a refund from you. We will not be using your theme because I need to get this site up and running and cannot wait until you grant me access to your personal support forum for the demo content and instructions. It should be really straight forward to register with the support forum, other users have no such issues, I don’t need to usually do it manually, it’s possible that you tried the wrong combination of Envato username and purchase code or copy/pasted faulty string…

I have my reasons to NOT include the demo content with the theme itself, for example I don’t want to make the theme too heavy which most users appreciate that. There is also no such rule that it should be included in a specific place, it’s to the authors discretion where to provide it.

Andon, I have a question. This theme was originally developed back in 2011 which makes it 5 years old. This week, we had an issue with a client’s website running a design based on a really old theme. It turns out the problem was the THEMES was not compatible with current versions of PHP. My question is, #1. Do you regularly update this them for compatibility with newer version of PHP not just wordpress? #2. How long, in your estimation, will you continue to offer support for this theme considering it’s age?
I only ask, because I want to know if I should be looking for alternatives for newer projects or If I can feel safe to know that this theme will be supported for the next 3-5 years.

the U-Design theme was initially released back in 2011 with great success, nonetheless I’ve always kept it updated and adding new features, just look at the theme’s changelog if you need more detailed information on what features, security update, etc were added and when: http://themeforest.net/item/udesign-responsive-wordpress-theme/253220#item-description__updates-history
At this stage I’m far from abandoning this theme as it’s still selling strong with a relatively large user base, so I think you’re pretty safe at least for the next couple of years
1 That’s correct compatibility is checked for both WordPress, PHP.
2 Age of a theme doesn’t matter if it’s being renewed with new features and kept up to the current trends, which has been the case with U-Design.

Hi there,
I have the latest theme update and for some reason the revolution slider is going full width when I’ve specified that in Revolution Slider settings to be 940×430 but there are no settings in the UDesign theme options to keep it contained rather than full width.
How can I remove the full width option from the theme options panel?

I would recommend to you to ask Envato/ThemeForest support for anything accounts related, they will have the answer for you as I’m not sure how licenses can be transferred, as far as I know you cannot, but ask them and see what they say. you will not lose your content which is stored in the database. You might notice sidebar widgets changes, but you should not have lost your widgets they will most likely be de-activated but you could re-activate them again by assigning them to whatever sidebar you want in U-Design.

Hi AndonDesign,
I’m kind of struggling down with the background image for the content block in the “Meet the team” page. I’m customizing that design as you can see here: http://blog.lssignstudio.com/about-us/ but I can’t get to give it the right position (and I’ve tried every value possible; center bottom, 50% 90%, 0 715). Sometimes, when the page is reloaded the image appears to be in the content block but it immediately shifts up… am I doing something wrong? How do I fix it?

You can style the site any way you want really, if you noticed I run the “TeaTime” demo shop on a separate WordPress instance than the main demo site, hence the difference in colour schemes.

sure you can use it for that. Things like domain checker is not something a theme should offer, this is very niche feature which should either be custom coded or find a WP plugin for it. In general specialized features should be outsourced to plugins and not a theme, a theme should just offer features related to the look and feel of a WordPress site, I don’t see how a domain checker fits that.

I’ve inherited a website that uses and older verson of your template.
There is a new version of the U-Design theme available. You have version 1.8.0 installed. Update to version 2.8.2.
My task is to make it mobile friendly, and was wondering if I purchase and apply the latest version this will be the easiest first step. Is version 2.8.2 mobile friendly?

Once you purchase the theme make sure to access the support forum which contains over 20,000 support threads that we have already resolved. We also have update guides there.

it all depends what state the theme is currently in, if it was heavily customized, meaning core theme files tampered with, than you will definitely feel the update in a bad way as those customizations will be wiped out. Make sure to back up the site first both files and DB just in case, then go ahead and update directly to most recent. Go with “Method 2” described in this forum thread: http://dreamthemedesign.com/u-design-support/discussion/13/how-do-i-update-the-theme
Once you update the theme make sure to go to the “U-Design” Settings page and save it, just save it, this will refresh all necessary files that were updated (you won’t need to do that with future updates) just this one time because of the big jump.

Hi Andon! I am using a membership plug-in within your theme. Unfortunattely 1 important function is not working due jquery issues. I contacted them and they could not fix it. I had to make sure that you don’t load custom versions of jQuery in U-design or should use the latest select2 version.
Is there a way to solve this?

Hi Danny,
doesn’t sound like it’s theme related because I do not touch jQuery in my theme, my guess is that you have a third party plugin that’s loading jQuery on their own. I also use Select2 in my theme for the Icon Fonts (you can see it in the editor when you click the “Add Icon” button).

I deactivated all plug-ins: did not work. I activated another theme: problem solved. That is why I think it is theme related. Any ideas how to solve this?
maybe you have a much older version of the theme, I’m not sure, what version do you currently have? Or this could be very specific to your site or server environment, other users as well as myself don’t have this issue. Actually, I will most likely need to further investigate, please email me 2 things:
1 ) Admin access to your WordPress site (you could create an account for me just make sure to make me an administrator)
2 ) FTP access to your server

not yet, there’s nothing that important in the last release anyways, I try to keep a balance between making too many updates too often which ultimately upsets some users and keeping up with Revolution Slider and Visual Composer updates which at times and between the two could be quite often, so I make sure first there’s nothing important in those updates like security releases, etc, in which case I make sure to make those available right way.
I might have an update for the theme in the next couple of weeks.
