Hi, Great work on Core theme, I have two questions (sorry if there where asked, but I didnt find answer)
1. For example if you look at your core – portfolio – 2 columns preview page, is it possible to add link to a thumb so It opens youtube video, instead of opening bigger image?
2. Social networks icon – where can you add links to them?

Hi, I have 2 questions:
1. I want to create an individual Category style. To do so I will create a new php-template. Do I have to create a general child theme, or can I put the new template in the default theme.
2. Updating your theme: I have made some modification on the css, php templates, custom.js and on the jquery.js file. In order to update your theme do I have to save all that and replace them after updating? Do you recommend a child theme?

1. Sorry, it needs a custom modification. So you have to edit the code yourself or you can find good Wordpress freelancer on site like elance.com, odesk.com
2. Yes, backup what you have changed first before updating.
My first question was if I can put my new created template in your default folder, or if I have to put in a new child theme. I know that i have to customize it by myself

I’ve solved the problem myself after some troubleshooting:
1. I had to look at my apache server logs to find a number of errors relating to files not being found and incorrect file permissions:
chmod 755 Core
chmod 755 Core/js/jquery.ppflip.js(The file permissions were not set correctly from the default (out-of-the-box) zip file “core-minimalist-photography-portfolio.zip v 1.6”)
2. I was also required to adjust the permissions for the file Core/timthumb.php. There may be others depending on what is reported in the Error Logs.
For now it seems to be working as expected.
Is it likely the version I’ve downloaded is buggy ? Hopefully the next revision will address some of these permission problems.
The Rotate slide show style doesn’t work (but I don’t plan to use it).
All in all a great theme.

No, the permission is set when you upload.
It’s not buggy and 1,000+ purchases with 5 stars… it’s your incorrectly install it that cause the issue.
If you can enable rotate, I can told what’s wrong with your setting.

I’ve unzipped the core zip file at the source and I can tell you that the permissions (for the files reported in the Error Logs) are incorrect.
I’ve had 15+ years of system admin experience (on multiple operating systems) and I think it’s a tad unfair to dismiss my finding and simply suggest that I haven’t followed the instructions. I can send you detailed output to prove my point.
I’d thought you’d appreciate some feedback to improve the user experience.

I installed Core Minimalistic on a Wordpress 3.2.1. new installation. Everything works well except when I go to the Appearance/Menus/Galleries page. The right side of the right frame (Menu Name…Create a Menu…To create a custom menu, give it a …) is active and workable. The left side is ghosted. I can actually drag the menus “Galleries” “pages” “Categories” around but I can not do any selection in those menus ( I uploaded a screenshot at http://img11.imageshack.us/img11/3981/corec.gif )
What I did wrong?
FYi: running PHP 5 .X, my flash is update to the latest version, I tested that page on IE8 , IE9, Chrome 12.0.7XXX and Firefox 5. Tested on a machine running both XP and 7. I set the Core folder permission to 777 (using Filezilla)

Help! I’m new at this and can’t find the zipped file that I downloaded. I’ve searched my HD. I have a folder that says Core-v1-6-1, but Wordpress wants a zipped file. Do I have to create my own?
Could you try to unzip the file first because there are many folder in the file ex. manual, theme, license info.
Then you will find /Core folder, upload that folder to /wp-content/themes via FTP client. Once you uploaded activate theme via Wordpress admin.
Hi, I found how to add text to the gallery. I had to use desciption field in gallery editor. But now I can make the fullscreen Slideshow work in gallery. It only work when the gallery is set as homepage. Otherwise it wont autostart.

Sorry, it does works on IE but the rotate effect cant be applied because IE doesn’t support CSS transform.

The gallery style is global setting. You can change it via Core admin > Blog-Portfolio

Already fixed – the issue was that I had uploaded the Core-v1-6 folder to the theme directory – everything worked fine except the flow slideshow – which started to work once I moved the Core folder down to the WP theme directory. URL is shiragold.com
I am trying set the thumbnail on a different part of the image instead of what it defaults too.
I go to galleries and then finally navigate to “edit the image” – I crop it and can see on the dashboard that it has been cropped. But when I actually go to the website it is still set as the default instead of the custom thumbnail.
Is there a fix to that? Or am I in the wrong place to edit the thumbnail?

I understand the thumbnails are automatically generated. But there is the option to change the thumbnail in dashboard – are you saying it doesn’t work? Or can you point me to where I can custom set the thumbnail if it isn’t under galleries?
Like I said it’s automatically generated. So if you want to edit every thumbs, you have to edit theme code yourself or hire freelancer to do it.

1. I like to know where I can change the image border of the image post, cause when I don’t use an featured image for an article the border(5px) still is showing up. It looks like a failure. I want to keep the border for the rest of the other post images.
2. When you have the imageflow as a start page, the footer is showing up, but when you use the imageflow as a portfolio the footer isn’t there anymore? Where Can I change this?
3. Do you have in mind to update your theme? It would be great having the possibility to open a video/extern link from the Imageflow!!!!

My first question was a misunderstanding. I want that my article/post pictures having a border. When I’m not using an image I don’t want too see any empty border, naturally!
What I want:
Image -> border
No image -> no-border
The actual problem is:
Image -> border
No image -> still the border!!!!!
How can I remove the no image border, but keeping the picture’s border?

i just did what u said but it didnt work. wordpress said the theme is not valid. i unpacked the whole folder…. and theres a mac folder…uploaded it all…but nothing.
when uploading just the one folder (without mac) it works…but without flow…

This theme is simply stunning! I have purchased and started making some customizations. One thing I cannot figure out is how to disable cufon font for the menus and footer text. Can you point me in the right direction to disable the cufon class for these?
You can remove Cufon code in /js/custom.js file.
