You can use full width video embeds, however there’s no option for video row backgrounds (where content would sit on top of it) for anything other than self hosted in the current version

1) I am trying to create a full height nectar slider, I have used the code

to hide the footer on that particular page but for some reason I am getting a white space below the slider. page is http://ewburman.com/17/new/
2) is there any way to make the full page slider so that it doesn’t scroll even a little bit? It seems like if I try to scroll it moves just a little.

1. Are you only seeing that white space when you enter the css?
2. You could set “
html{ overflow:hidden; } on the page you wish to prevent user scrolling

Is price determined by Envato? $40 for 6 months just seems steep. As an alternative, is there any open forum specific to Salient where we could find answers among the internet community?
Yes, unfortunately we didn’t have a say in the matter. It’s determined as a percentage from the item price. I’m unaware of user created forum other than the one I have on ticksy – but the search functionality in the comment section here is very useful

It’s possible go to portfolio page, with one category already choose? For example: I have a menu with the 3 types of category portfolio, and when clicked on one, go to the portfolio page with a category already selected, instead of all.
Hey, yes – there’s an option in the portfolio element inside of visual composer that allows you to select the ‘Starting Category” – what version of the theme are you using?
When I create a blog post that’s a “Quote” it changes my h1 and h2 titles to a white color? When I set the post as a “standard” post the h1 and h2 title tags go back to the color I set which is #444444

Hi i wanna use the ascend skin and the sticky mobile menu but i don`t want the mobil menu via the side area because it will not work properly when using submenus (the main menupoint of it is tahn not availabale!!!!!) or how can this fixed?

To have access to the old mobile menu you’ll need to turn off the sticky mobile nav option – the idea to make a third mobile nav option that allows the old functionality in the new style is on the wishlist now but there’s no ETA of when it will get added into the theme

I have one other question. The Share button that is on each product page used to say the word “Share” and now it’s just blank. I’m wondering if this is a glitch in Salient since the last update? Would you be able to look into that for me? Thank you so much.
wait. maybe I’m wrong. maybe it never DID actually say the word ‘Share’ within the oval shape. I just checked your Demo themes and they don’t seem to have the word ‘Share’ either.

Hey, the only way to accomplish this would be to use the fullscreen post header option since this is the only one that when a BG is not set will still provide a fullwidth area. Then enter this css into the custom css box in the Salient options panel to limit the height and add your default image

For everyone who hasn’t seen the announcements,
In regards to WordPress 4.5
The only version of Salient that is compatible with the latest WP is Salient 7.0.8, and the only version of Salient Visual Composer that is compatible with WP 4.5 is 4.11.2. If you’re using older versions of these and have updated to WP 4.5, your visual composer will not work.
Once you’ve updated Salient, head to the plugins section of your admin panel to update Visual Composer. If you’re having issues after using both the current versions, check for third party plugin issues – WP 4.5 added a new version of jQuery and a lot of plugins broke because of it.

Hi Can someone please explain why the galleries always seems to distort my images. For exaple, http://www.laflammephoto.com/empty-homes/ and http://www.laflammephoto.com both my galleries look horrible, but when I click on them they look great. Is it because I’m using images that are too small? For the blog post I’m using 1200*800, that doesn’t seem terribly small to me, just average no? I’m very concerned about keeping my load times down, so I’m resistant to start putting bigger images especially that the overall web site is going to have a ton of images. Please help! Thanks
The last image in my gallery, the one of the house exterior, is 2500px wide and it’s still dispaying like shit, so that’s not the problem. Please help!

Using the new version of Salient / VC I’m getting warnings on a few JS files following a scan from Wordfence.
I’ve over-written the files, but they came up again following another scan immediately after.
It’s important to note that I’ve got ‘High Sensitivity’ enabled which it states may find false positives, but as the developer I was wondering if you’ve got any familiarity with what might be going on here.
Example files:
wp-content/plugins/js_composer_salient/assets/lib/php.default/php.default.min.js
/nectar/redux-framework/extensions/vendor_support/vendor/ace_editor/mode-php.js
Message:
This file appears to be installed by a hacker to perform malicious activity. If you know about this file you can choose to ignore it to exclude it from future scans. The text we found in this file that matches a known malicious file is: “EvalError|InternalError|RangeError|ReferenceError|StopIteration|SyntaxError|TypeError|URIError|decodeURI|decodeURIComponent|encodeURI|encodeURIComponent|eval|isFinite|isNaN|parseFloat|parseInt|JSON|Ma…”. The infection type is: Suspicious eval with base64 decode.

2. This is also a false positive as it’s picking up the base64 reference which is only there for syntax highlighting and also is an untouched raw file included with ace editor https://ace.c9.io/#nav=about
Thanks for clarifying this; have set to ignore and will let the devs of Wordfence know that these are false positives given the prominence of your work.

So one other thing I’ve noticed in a couple of sites that use Salient (I like seeing what other people do with your theme); in Firefox (latest build, 45.02) when you click on the browser’s back button to return to a previous page, the page doesn’t load (e.g. home page > sub page > return to home). It doesn’t happen on all sites (including mine and your demo site), but an example would be a site a bit above this in the comments: http://arianna-gd.com/ – hope you’re able to replicate through this & see what might be going on.
