I am attempting to help someone update their site with this theme installed. They have both an older version of wordpress and an older version of the theme. Unfortunately they did not use a child theme, and they want to update the site to the latest version of the theme and wordpress. I downloaded the latest theme version, but what would be the best way to transfer their data? If I simply update the theme via ftp and overwrite the older version’s files, will it still work? Or will it be more complicated?

Did they make modifications to the core theme? As long as those files weren’t edited you can update via FTP or through the envato toolkit plugin http://code.tutsplus.com/tutorials/toolbox-of-the-smart-wordpress-developer-the-envato-wordpress-toolkit--cms-23883

It is possible that they have altered the main files, but I am meeting with him later today to find out for sure. Would it be possible to make a child theme, copy over all the main theme files they have now to that child theme, and then update the parent theme manually by overwriting the original files with the new version? Or would that work at all?

That wouldn’t work – for now if you need to upgrade I’d just make a backup of your current theme that way in case they made mods to the core files you can extract those sections afterwards and make a child theme correctly

Hey, those fonts are the ascend fonts – you can manage them in the typography tab in the Salient options panel. If you’re having any further issues with importing in the future just let me know

Hey, the font would already need to be enqueued in one of the places via the typography section of your Salient options panel – if it is, you can set it with the css

This may be a small thing to ask but I noticed that there is only one version of the DeviantArt icon but all the other social media icon has at least 2 versions ( one version is encased in a square and the other is by itself). Is there any way to add a DeviantArt icon encased in a square and to also have it appear on the footer as well.

I have two CSS style issues I can’t seem to figure out or seem to be conflicting. Probably outside the realm of your assistance for this theme, but I figured I’d ask: (1) I’m trying to vertically center this animated gif on this page. Likewise, I’d like to make sure that white space takes up about 90% of the viewport when loading on any device… in addition to… (2) tying to get a div to always load at the bottom of this page. Primarily, the “What’s New” box. Right now it’s not it’s own div, but even when I try I still can’t get it to work. Basically, I want that div plus the animated gif to take up 100% of the viewport when loading on any device. Can’t get it to work, nor can I get the animated gif vertically centered without using approximated padding-top css. (3) Any way to disable the nav bar logo on first load JUST on the homepage? It’s great if it appears when scrolling, but since I have the animated gif logo, it doesn’t make much sense to have the menu bar logo too.

I just updated Salient and Wordpress, and now I don’t every page with Nectar Slider turns out blank. If I remove Nectar Slider from the page it works as intended! Do you know what could cause this problem? I only have a nectar slider on the landing page.

I have installed the latest salient theme available for download in my accounts download section on envato market labeled “themeforest-4363266-salient-responsive-multipurpose-theme-wordpress-theme”. When installed it states that it is version 7.0.7 with VC version 4.10 and gives no option for updating. Where can we acquire the latest version?

Hey, this would require the use of custom css with font-face or the use of a plugin as the only fonts available in Salient are Google based ones as of now

I recently began updating our website which has been using the Salient theme along with the Nectar Slider. I updated to the most recent WP 4.5.2 and the Nectar Sliders are no longer appearing on our site (Along with the Visual Composer). I am only on Salient version 4.8.1 and I do not know how to update to the most recent version of Salient. Happy to re-purchase if that will rectify the issue.

Hi, I just re-purchased and was able to update the to the most recent version. Everything is working now except the Visual Composer. The Composer is saying it has a fatal error every-time I try to activate it.
Have you tried to delete your old copy of Visual Composer and install the latest one included with Salient (v4.11.2) from the appearance > install plugins section?

The only version of Salient that is compatible with the latest WP is Salient 7.0.8, and the only version of Salient Visual Composer that is compatible with WP 4.5 is 4.11.2. If you’re using older versions of these and have updated to WP 4.5, your visual composer will not work.
Once you’ve updated Salient, head to the plugins section of your admin panel to update Visual Composer. If you’re having issues after using both the current versions, check for third party plugin issues – WP 4.5 added a new version of jQuery and a lot of plugins broke because of it.

7.0.8 is not available in the downloads section. Although it shows 7.0.8 in the downloads section, once downloaded and installed the theme is version 7.0.7 with a non-functioning VC in WP 4.5. Where can 7.0.8 be downloaded from?
