Someone else had the same problem a few days ago I think. They said they fixed it by adding the API key, but didn’t say where you need to put it.
The map loads, but as soon as it finished loaded it gives the error which you can see here https://postimg.org/image/tb9nfuwfr Im working locally.
ASAnd the error in the console is as follows Google Maps API error: MissingKeyMapError https://developers.google.com/maps/documentation/javascript/error-messages#missing-key-map-errorwindow.console.error

If you’re on a current version of Salient you can add the key into the map.js file in the js folder. The line to mod should be near line 589 of the file -
$.getScript('https://maps.google.com/maps/api/js?sensor=false&callback=mapAPI_Loaded');
will become
$.getScript('https://maps.google.com/maps/api/js?sensor=false&key=APIKEYHERE&callback=mapAPI_Loaded');

The only version of Salient that is compatible with the latest WP is Salient 7.0.9, and the only version of Salient Visual Composer that is compatible with WP 4.5 is 4.11.2. If you’re using older versions of these and have updated to WP 4.5, your visual composer will not work.
Once you’ve updated Salient, head to the plugins section of your admin panel to update Visual Composer. If you’re having issues after using both the current versions, check for third party plugin issues – WP 4.5 added a new version of jQuery and a lot of plugins broke because of it.

Is it possible to use the lightbox feature for an image but the lightbox is a different image?
For example, I put a small image and when someone clicks it the lightbox is a different image.
I realized I am able to do it with the text editor by using pp as the class rather than using the shortcode element for a single image.

Deploying from local WAMP server to remote server causes issues with the Nectar Slider. It seems the DB preserves the full path of image URLs from local machine rather than using WP get_site_URL(). So when I deploy my local site to remote, I have to manually edit the slide image URLs as they maintain ”/localhost/wordpress/wp-content/etc..” rather than a dynamic site URL. Should be an easy fix for the next version!

After the major update I updated everything as it should have been and all worked correctly. I have just done the latest update and for some reason VC isnt working, its visible but on the page but you cant enter anything, its just blank…
We are running the latest version of Salient, VC and Wordpress and as far as I know we havent added any new plugins.

the permanent transparent header is turn off but we checked “Use Transparent Header When Applicable?” http://prntscr.com/bmp5rm so the functionality is that when the user scrolled down, it will not transparent anymore, right? but it is not working on browser width from 1001px to 1017px.

The child theme is only meant to be used if you’re editing theme files or making mods – as long as you’re not there’s no benefit to using a child theme

Hey, this is what it’s meant for but in some cases when the parent files change you’ll need to update your child theme files to reflect the new structure

I activated the child theme and the theme plugins (contact form 7 and visual composer) were not installing so I activated the parent theme to activate the plugins but they are still not getting installed. (it says unpacking package contents but..but just remains there like that). How to activate visual composer?

A few other suggestions that I’d love to see would be more page transition animations, the ability to have a video background on non nectar slider elements, and maybe the ability to have a hanging menu bar. For example, maybe add some small padding to the top, bottom, and sides of the bar. And just more animations in general elements. Such as 360 flip for text on hover, etc.

?I am trying to use the visual composer but I can’t seem to find how to use it! According to your documentation there should be something called Backend Editor but I cannot see this.
Also Visual Composer asks to be activated but then requires a licence to be purchased – I should not need to purchase a licence for this should I, as its part of the theme licence?

Do you have the Salient Visual Composer active or the regular raw Visual Composer active? The Salient VC doesn’t require a license to be used – you can find the name of the plugin you’re using in the plugins section of your admin panel
