I attempted to update the theme by deleting the current and uploading the new based on the documentation. However, that killed the site and I lost all of my widgets and settings. I had a web guy build this out for me and he’s no longer around. Crazy thing is, after I did the updates to WP and some plugins, I was still able to access the main theme options that same day. It wasn’t until I tried again a few days later that I hit a wall.

salient/nectar/options/defaults.php is not used in the current version – do you have a child theme active that’s overwriting the functions.php call?

I do not. I noticed the latest version has a child theme but I did not see that folder. Would love to tell you what version I have but I can’t access that right now. Not sure what happened after updating.
Any ideas? I can’t restore the site via my hosting since they only keep 1 week back and it’s been a month now.

The only version of Salient that is compatible with the latest WP is Salient 7.0.9, and the only version of Salient Visual Composer that is compatible with WP 4.5 is 4.11.2. If you’re using older versions of these and have updated to WP 4.5, your visual composer will not work.
Once you’ve updated Salient, head to the plugins section of your admin panel to update Visual Composer. If you’re having issues after using both the current versions, check for third party plugin issues – WP 4.5 added a new version of jQuery and a lot of plugins broke because of it.

Hey, I have located the issue and the fix will be in the next release – however it seems you don’t have the wp admin editor active so I can add the change it for you now (it’s a mod to the init.js file)

That’s available in the corporate demo – it’s the news page. You can select that masonry style in your blog options tab in the Salient options panel. It’s called “classic enhanced”

Guess there was some cache that needed to be deleted in this matter – everything seems okay now. And the site looks okay in almost every browsers. Though, I’ve noticed that Safari doesn’t show all the images… and there is a horisontal gap between the portfolio elements on the frontage, which has been a bug for quite a long time. When using the Ascend theme the Cart Menu Icon is on the very far right hand side i.e. right:0px.
Is there any way to align the cart menu icon with the right hand side of the body content. For example when the search magnifying glass is added it aligns directly with the right margin for the content below it. Can we do the same with the add to cart option?

If you’re on the current version, the columns should start at line 52. They look like this:
