Active SW Extensions, open command line in folder root of magento and run commands via ssh using putty or others,

it’s quite impossible to have a Magento2 running without access and some knowledge of SSH. The amount of work going in to server configuration and the actions that can only be run via SSH . Pls kindly contact your hosting provider to get the help on SSH access.

I want to start developing an ecommerce website and I have never used magento before though I have experience with Wordpress and good front-end developer. The following are my concerns, if you could kindly assist me with answers it will resolve my decision to buy your theme.
1. Does your theme, have a click to install demo or demo data for Magento 2 ? 2. Is the documentation extensive i.e does it have instructions on how to completely customise the theme and the CMS Magento 2 considering my strong suit is front-end design and not back-end? 3. Really hate to bother you, but my main concern is how I will integrate this mode of payment (http://developer.pesapal.com/official-extensions) with your theme. so: a) Can your team offer support for integrating? b) If so, how much will it cost me? c) If not, how hard is it to make or modify this extension to integrate with your theme?

1. Please check the Magento 2 requirment first http://devdocs.magento.com/guides/v2.0/install-gde/system-requirements.html . To install Porto Magento 2 theme, after theme file uploading and extracting, you will need to open SSH and run command to active Porto. But just need one click to install any demo for your Magento 2 site.

3. Unfortunately, Payment method is core functionality of Magento, not theme related. and Magento has dozens of payment gateways integrated. Yes, right. In Porto, you are able to call Category Sidebar menu shown on homepage. This menu will show same content with Main Menu.

we are not talking about the category menu actually, we want to show products from selected categories at the center of the page such that there will be some selected categories listed vertically to the left and on clicking on any one category will show some products from that category towards the right side…..as in the image http://imgur.com/a/QTGAn or at the down portion of the homepage of the theme http://magento1.emthemes.com/everything/index.php/?___store=marketdeal_eng

I’m installing extensions and making theme work for the porto theme. The extension seller’s installation guide says the following:
1 Copy layout and template folders from app/design/frontend/base/default folder to app/design/frontend/base/your_theme folder
2 Copy css and images folders from skin/frontend/base/default folder to skin/frontend/base/your_theme folder
Could you let me know what the exact related theme folder locations are for the Porto theme?

How can I edit the header to enlarge logo size and move search box to the right ? I see the logo image is set at width=”111” height=”50” but I can’t find what file to edit to change that. Logo size in CONTENT/DESIGN/CONFIGURATION/[mytheme]/HEADER/ is 400×90 (uploaded image is also 400×90). Using Magento 2.11 + Porto 2.3.4 with header Type 8.

To change the size of logo, in Customization Setting, pls try to use the custom css below:
@media (max-width: 991px) {
.header-container.type8 .header .logo img {
height: 39px;
}
}
It will need some customization for header search in app/design/frontend/Smartwave/porto/Smartwave_Porto/templates/html/header.phtml

Unfortunately this particular suggestion didn’t work, but I have found a way to do it: editing /app/design/frontend/Smartwave/[mychildtheme]/Magento_Theme/layout/default.xml, lines 12 and 13:
<argument name=”logo_img_width” xsi:type=”number”>283</argument> <argument name=”logo_img_height” xsi:type=”number”>64</argument>
This also pushes the search bar to the right so there is no need for extra styling (checked on desktop browsers Chrome, Mozilla, Opera, IE 11, Edge). Mobile version seems unchanged.
Being a child theme, this won’t be overwritten at an update, correct ?

If I want to customise any module. Do I have to copy it from e.g. /vendor/magento/module-customer/view/frontend/layout/default.xml to your theme directory. Or can I just edit it in /vendor/magento.

The correct way to customize the theme in Magento is to create your own sub-theme. You should never edit the original files.

If you choose to go with custom menu, then you should disable /remove the duplicated categories from Content > Categories.

In Magento 2 I found the anchor button, but I want to keep the Categories layer.
You can disable Price attribute Layered Navigation by going to Store > Attributes > Products > open the attribute > in Storefront Properties you will see an option to hide this attribute on Layed Navigation.
