I’m having a problem with project categories. I can add them but none of the categories show up under the sort menu on the top right of the page even though there is portfolio items within that category. It seems once you delete the categories included in the theme, you can’t see any of the portfolio items because you can’t add categories. Can you help me with this? Thanks.

I have changed the salient slider heading 2 to heading 1 and I think i did it through functions.php if I am not mistaking. and I have also edited the header.php files. Will these be re-written?
If yes, I am guessing the solution is to keep a copy of the modified files on my hard drive. Update the theme with the new ones, then replace the modified files again. What do you suggest?

If you just replace the current file with the old one it will cause issues since you’ll have outdated files then – you need to update just the section where you made the mods

I do not understand what you mean? How do I update just the sections only?
I basically want to update the theme to the new version but I want to be sure that everything I changed stays the same.
That would be:
1. Custom CSS in the salient options 2. header.php 3. functions.php
Would you please provide a step-by-step instructions on how to safely update?

The custom css in the Salient options panel will remain intact after updating – the other two files you will need to open up after updating and add your modifications to again

In the new business demo there is a animated “scroll down icon” (mouse like) and i was wondering how can (if possible) use that same icon and animation for my full screen rows on the front page?

Perfect! I was more asking about the full page rows, i see there is no option (other than tool tips) for anchors or scroll down arrows animated like the header one.
but what i did was at the div from svg and place it wit custom editing on the row.
example:

No matter what I do I can’t make my portfolio page show images like the page below. I have hard time showing off vertical images, thumbnails get distorted and small if I enable Masonry style. What am I doing wrong??? I really like the new layout of the photography gallery and I would love to have it setup like this. Please help.

it’s only referring to if you modifying the core template files, as they were be replaced with the new ones. If you didn’t edit the core files directly then you’ll be fine

Hey, that’s occurring because you have the animated anchor links option on in your Salient options panel > general settings tab. What version were you on previously where this didn’t happen?
I was using 7.5.02 and everything was good. Then I updated to 7.6 and stopped working.
The animated anchor is disabled also

Hi guys, I’m trying to create something different with the portfolio. I’d like to add a div class after each row of 4.
So, I’m using fullwidth, constrain to 4 items options, is there a way I can insert a div class inside the loop for the portfolio after every 4 items? I couldn’t see exactly where I could insert this in shortcode-processing.php.
I know how to do it with a blog loop using a counter:

etc etc. Could it be done inside the portfolio? Would be a cool feature to make some really custom looking portfolio pages.

It would indeed need to go into the shortcode-processing.php file – the function is called “nectar_portfolio_processing” and you can find the loop around line 1313 if you’re on the current version

Hey guys! I update the website and now my homepage doesn’t display the visual composer content that was on the homepage at all. And the code for visual composer can only be seen under the “Classic Mode” editing style. Help?

Still having issues with having ‘full screen rows’ activated and it causing other minor css issues in other areas, such as the nav starting logo colour when using transparent nav. When using Full Screen Rows the background colour issue is now fixed however, which is ace!

I have a significant issue with the theme. After setting it up and it all working swimmingly, now – whenever I load a page to try and update it, it loads up other pages or auto-drafts and so I cannot fix or update anything. Gutted.

Out of nowhere as far as I know. I have updated all of the standard plugins and theme since I made the pages originally and haven’t even looked at the pages. The standard blog posts work fine. I’ve checked the php version in case that was the issue with VC but that isn’t the case. I don’t understand it.

I’m planning to purchase your theme but I have some questions to ask you. - If I purchase a regular license, will it be only applicable to one domain? - If yes, can I still use the template to used offline? By this, I mean can the template be still used on a localhost through xampp as a testing environment?

By the way I love the new icon element (gigantic improvement over trying to jam those in through shortcode) and the new client display and vertical navigation options are gorgeous.

Hi. I’m working on a site for a friend who is using the Salient theme. I’m basically building in placeholder content so they can do make their changes etc. So far the theme has been the best one I’ve worked with.
One issue I’m having: The logo in the nav doesn’t align when it changes from light to dark and is cutting off the bottom of the light logo — this only happens when the browser is small enough for Salient to load the small version of the logo.
I uploaded a place holder logo that’s in a rectangle and the bottom of the rectangle is being cropped when it switches from dark to light. Any ideas?

I have added your theme to our website and it has greatly improved the appearance. I love this theme, but I am having one (small?) problem with my logo.
My son and I were able to read through the comments here and find out how to make the logo absolute positioned to extend below the menu bar on the desktop version of the site, since someone asked that question previously, but that does not happen on mobile. Instead, the entire logo is within the menu bar on mobile, making most of the page not visible.
Would you mind looking at my site to see what you can recommend for getting the logo to extend below the header for absolute position on mobile like it does on desktop?
