Can I have a line break between a menu item that is two words? I tried it my just adding it in the navigation title, but it wasn’t responsive and did weird things to the header. Also, is there a way to replace a navigation title with an image?

1. As of now you can’t add line breaks in menu items
2. Are you referring to the sitename/logo area? If so – yes, in the Salient options panel > header navigation tab there’s a logo upload http://themenectar.com/docs/salient/theme-options/header-navigation/#logo-general

Currently when you set a portfolio to “Fullwidth, Masonry” it forces the portfolio to take up all the window space. The “In Container” parameter has no effect.
I would kill to put a fullwidth masonry portfolio inside a container. Just tell me who to kill. I’m pretty sure this functionality existed in previous versions. Please and thanks for any help.

The masonry option (where the project sizes activate) has always required the layout to be full width – however if you leave it fullwidth, you could reduce the layout to appear in contained with css.

currently the only way to have the nav be transparent on mobile is with the permenant transparent header option – but that’s not meant for the left header navigation

I’m seriously looking at your Salient theme for an upgrade on a site I’ve had for awhile. Does this theme generally require a fresh WP install, or does it install OK on existing sites much of the time?

You can use it on an existing site – but depending on what theme you used before and what shortcodes/post types they had you might need to recreate some of your content

TY… it didn’t import for some reason, but it’s not too hard to re-create it.
BIGGER PROBLEM: I need to use the “Facebook Open Graph, Google+ and Twitter Card Tags” plugin, but the Salient theme is inserting the OG tags so I am getting double OG tags and errors when parsing with the Facebook Object Debugger tool.
The main reason I need to use this plugin is that when doing a video post I do not want a featured image showing on the page, but I do want an OG image for social media cross posting/sharing.
I’ve tested Salient, and when I have a video and no featured image for the post, the OG image that the theme uses is the header logo, not good.
It would be great to have the choice to supply an OG image and/or other data for the other OG tags as part of the Salient theme, but until such time that may happen I need to use the plugin.
So how do I stop Salient from generating the OG tags?
Yoast allows you to specific OG data and when you use that plugin Salient does not add any extra OG tags. If you don’t want to use Yoast for whatever reason you’d need to remove this from the functions.php add_action( ‘wp_head’, ‘add_opengraph’, 5 );
TY… switching over to Yoast did the trick and lots of other nice features as well!

Is there an easy way to hide some page elements on mobile?
OK, I discovered the Responsive Options section on the columns in VC. If I disable all the columns in a row on mobile (smartphone) will this then get rid of the row also?
Hey, the row will technically still exist in the markup, however if you have the row set to full width background/content for the type it will be completely invisible as long as you don’t have padding set on the row itself

Hey, you’d have to use the widgetised sidebar option and select a widget area in which you have assigned either of those
OK, tried this, but unfortunately it’s not possible to get the comments to display horizontally, under all settings they display in a list which makes sense for a sidebar, but not always on a page.
Another question: what css selectors do I target in sitewide css to change the font size/weight of the CTA button?

1. If you’re using the latest Salient (7.6) you can select the minimal style when editing your testimonial element in visual composer
2. The contact form is populated using Contact form 7 and has the minimal form styling option on in the Salient options panel > form styling tab

The box roll effect can not be used on third party slider plugins as it’s specific to the markup Salient adds for the fullscreen header.

What I just did was copy the shortcode (classic mode) from the old salient version, included the missing fullscreen settings and finally the fullscreen checkbox appeared.

Thank you update worked, I noticed the spacing was a bit off inputs had too much height. Here is quick fix, just a thought for future update makes form look much better and evenly spaced.

I am using the Service Template, and as recommended I have installed Contact Form 7 Plugin.
All is working well in all browsers, except during submission of form on mobile, and on mobile only. When the submit button is pressed nothing happens, I just don’t know where to look for the possible issue.
Totally awesome documentation!!! I updated to the latest version. Disabled full screen row on mobile and BANG!!! all working now. Awesome!!!
But now the row anchors don’t work… and my mobile menu (custom link inside off canvas menu) which works off the row anchors does not work either.
Will continue looking and see if I can fix somehow. Please let me know if you have any ideas. Thank you!

Im having an issue with the new “masonry gallery” option while using it in a portfolio page with the row set to “Full Width Content” and the “Full Width Portfolio Item Layout” enabled. I would like to change the color of the CURRENT page link only in the navigation, while being underlined. So if im on the HOME page, I would like HOME underlined and the word HOME in navigation to be a specific color. I cannot find the correct CSS selector to add this rule, please help thank you! (I have already found how to underline it when on the page in the settings, I just want to change the color of the selected page)

I want to change the layout to something custom. i want the image to be half the page full high and the content at the other side. All this are really hard to be done with only css because the layout structure don’t help for what i want to do. So what I want to do is to make the portfolio page more custom. If I copy the portfolio template in my child theme and change it there will this do the trick?

Hello – whenever creating a PAGE only, I receive the error “Are You Sure You Want To Do This? Please Try Again”.
I’ve tried: 1. Increasing the memory limit via wordpress installation files. 2. Switching to another theme (The error stops happening) 3. Deactivating ALL plugins to to see if the error persisted (it continued to happen)
It looks like the Salient theme is causing this, because this doesnt happen with any other theme. Please advise, thank you!

If not… is it possible to have the previous, next and grid icon for projects on a non portfolio page?

Currently there’s no way to achieve that without some custom modding – since if you used a non portfolio page to get the fullscreen header you would not be able to get the next/prev project controls. I’ve noted your +1 for the idea to allow fullscreen project headers though

Ok thank you. Until that time (hopefully it becomes a feature ), is there some code I could put in so that normal pages aren’t affected but Portfolio headers could be visible on mobile and height could be adjusted? For example: 900px tall on desktop etc and 450px on mobile?

Hey, the portfolio template doesn’t offer different functionality than the visual composer portfolio element, it was just the only way to add a portfolio before the portfolio was integrated in VC

The slider does indeed use background images rather than img tags, and that can’t be changed as it’s done that way on purpose to allow some of functionality. However i’ve noted to try and hook it more through WP so that CDNs would be able to see it
