Hi Nectar! Thanks for the continued awesomeness on Salient – it has evolved beautifully over the last several years.
Couple questions for you: 1. Video Lightbox A. Can we adjust the opacity of the play button in the “Play Button with Preview Image” with CSS? B. Could you offer another option to Video Lightbox that adds a description below or on top of the image – like a portfolio item?
2. Portfolio filter: Can you make a particular filter linkable so you can link to a portfolio page with that filter already selected?Example would be: http://hingedigital.com/work/ -> links to portfolio with default filter http://hingedigital.com/work/#character -> goes to portfolio with character filter3. Nectar Slider: Can you add streaming sources (like vimeo or youtube) to slides? Buffering local .mp4s is slow and they need to be pretty low res to load fast enough. Please? Also, we see a hitch before each slide loads (and/or first part of the slide movie is skipped).

2. As of now this would require custom modding – you can change the starting category but linking to different filters isn’t available yet

2. I know I’ve asked for this in the past. I would really appreciate if you can add it to the wishlist as it would add important functionality to the portfolio in Salient.
3. This would be very helpful. In the meantime, do you have a suggestion as to get our slider to play more smoothly? We are using fast start .mp4s currently, each is under 500k per movie. In order to make them smaller in file size, I’ve had to make them 640×360, which make them more blurry & pixelated than I’d like.
Any best practices on making them play smoothly, file types, etc?

Hey I want to rename the theme folder from “Salient” to “Test”.. What do i need to do to make this happen? I have tried to rename the salient.rar folder to test.rar but when i upload/install the theme i get this message from wordpress: Unable to find End of Central Dir Record signature. If i upload the theme and install it as “salient” and go via FTP and change the folder name to “test” i get this message from wordpress: The theme directory “salient” does not exist.
How to do this the right way? Im using the latest version! Thx

You need to unzip the theme on your computer and then rename the the salient folder before FTPing the newly named folder into your wp-content/themes directory

Hi, i know it is not the support area. But only one time i need that little bit a help of yours because i am almost there to solve it.!!
I need to change the opacity to inherit or initial or something else, of nav menu items so that all menu items be white #ffffff every time, NOT ONLY when the menu item is active or hovered.
This css block i tried to change and adding it back to the custom css space of.. i changed opacity to inherit or initial. What do you propose?

Hi, I was having problems with visual composer not working. I thought maybe I needed to purchase their plugin again so I did that. When trying to re-install visual composer it gave me a “Fatal Error” and wouldn’t let me install the plugin. After talking to their support they said it was a custom theme code conflicting with visual composer.
Fatal error: Cannot redeclare wpb_getImageBySize() (previously declared in /home3/gracebb5/public_html/wp-content/themes/salient/wpbakery/js_composer/composer/lib/helpers.php:15) in /home3/gracebb5/public_html/wp-content/plugins/js_composer/include/helpers/helpers.php on line 114
They told me if I deleted the code it could break the theme. Any help would be fantastic as I cannot edit any pages in visual composer.

Hey, sorry for the delay – it turns out you’re using a very old version of the theme. Back when it included VC inside of the theme, this was changed almost two years ago. You just need to update your version of Salient and then you will see the option to install the Salient VC from Appearance > install plugins http://themenectar.com/docs/salient/updating-salient/

Hello, I am using off canvas navigation with salient but on mobile view it remains same (which doesnt look good as it over laps header texts etc) instead of taking mobile navigation which come with standard headers. Is it possible to disable off canvas navigation on mobiles and having standard mobile navigation which comes by using primary menu ? Also if i open standard mobile navigation i dont see a cross/option to close it, how can this be fixed/added? Regards
p.s. I have checked this option in theme setting ‘Off Canvas Menu Mobile Nav Menu items This will cause your off canvas menu to inherit any navigation items assigned in your “Top Navigation” menu location when viewing on a mobile device ’ assigning the menu position to both top & off canvas but it makes both of the menus appear on desktops/mobiles. Hope you can guide how to resolve this.

Your theme doesn’t work on the newest version of wordpress. Every time I try to install the theme i receive the following error:

I found your troubleshooting page for this, I’ve gone through all of the options and made sure they are correct/high enough. Still having the issue.
Hey frooshiantee, all of the demos are using the current WP and I have not heard of reports of this – “Are you sure you want to do this?” errors usually point to server settings of a low upload file size limit. Have you tried to upload the theme via FTP to confirm this?
I went over all of your documentation and raised my file size limits and php settings. Those definitely aren’t blocking the install from the GUI.
I am able to successfully upload the theme via FTP, and the theme is currently installed. I’d like to be able to install it through the GUI though, especially for future updates and stuff. There are a bunch of comments reporting this same issue.

There seems to be something wrong with the display of the header logo and ‘hamburger’ button when you used the “Page Header” feature with a white/very light BG. I have fiddled for ages trying to get the logo and hamburger button to start dark on my white header, no matter what options I do, it will only start white. It works and perfectly transitions to dark on the rest of the rows where I set it to dark, but for the Page Header despite that I have selected the text colour to be dark (which works on the text in the header) this does not trigger the logo and hamburger to display dark. It’s really frustrating me because I am SURE I have everything set right because it works perfectly everywhere else. There is no other work around as I want this header to be full page with the parallax scroll effect. I don’t want to do full screen rows because I only want to have the header full screen. I feel like there is a problem with this feature, it needs the option to tell it to choose either light or dark header logo and hamburger, otherwise you just can’t have a light/white BG. This has affected the design of my whole site and it’s really starting to bug me now that I can’t just have a white header on my homepage :/ see http://teyae.com where I’ve used a dark BG, versus this http://teyae.com/home2/ where I’ve used white.

there is no option to set the transparent header to display dark on page headers – there is a color picker for the page header font color, but that does not tie into the transparent header as the light/dark text color selection does for rows. What you’ll need to do is simply not use a page header and instead use a regular VC row – if you need the fullscreen option which isn’t currently available on single VC rows, it’s coming in the update due out in very soon

Hi! In a future project i would like to buy another license for that project, but i really need to use full height on certain rows, not all of them and not headers. I know some themes do it natively with visual composer, i even checked out a plugin for visual composer to make full height but it has issues with salient features, is there any possible way to achieve full height rows without making them all full height? I would really like to use your theme for all my upcoming projects. cheers

Hi, on our site https://discovergrandprix.com, we have a full width masonry blog on the home page. It is 4 stories wide and 4 stories only. It shows up just fine on chrome but is broken on safari. It doesn’t show up at all on safari. Is this a bug? Thanks for your help in advance.

No I haven’t. I still see it on chrome. I also see it when I look at chrome in incognito mode. But not on any safari browser, either ios or Mac OS. Which browser did you use?

I’m having a little issue on the header. I need that my page have a solid header color and when I scroll down it becomes transparent… If I turn the transparency on on header tab, it works but I’m not able to change the header background color. It is always black and the color that I set on Header Color Scheme, only appears when I scroll down the page…and then I set the Header BG Opacity to 50 and I got the transparency effect desired but when I come scroll up is black.
If I turn the transparency off on the header tab, it creates a extra space underneath the header which is black and the header is transparent now with the color I set on Header Color Scheme and Header BG Opacity on 50. I notice that when the transparency is off, the header is always transparent, because I can see the white color behind.

Which works great with one issue, whenever we click an image, it opens in a new tab instead of the lightbox I setup in Salient > Functions > Theme Lightbox, Auto Lightbox Image Links is also turned on.

Hi! I need some help with sizing images in a portfolio
i tried to use this template: Portfolio Fullwidth Style Three + Lightbox Only. I added a new portfolio item and selected to only show that cateogry. My porfolio items are screenshots of a cell phone so they are vertical rectangles but on the page they show as squares. like this http://zebo.io/portfolio-fullwidth-style-three/
I thought that would be because they are thumbnails so went to functions.php and changed the size of portolio-thumbnails to 1000×800 I am not sure if that was the right thing to do? Anyway, as you can see on the link, it didn’t resolve the issue.
How do I vary the size of images on the portfolio?

You can use the custom thumbnail upload field in your project configuration metabox for this – when using that upload instead of the featured image there is no cropping of the images

Hey, I built my portfolio page with the “App” Demo content and it turned out great. I would also like to integrate a shop and therefore would like to use your „E-Commerce“ Demo. Can I use this content and link it only to my shop page without overwriting the rest of my installed theme?

Yes – if you import the eccommerce demo your App page will still exist, but you will get the ecommerce theme options imported so make sure you back up your current ones first if you prefer those so you can reimport them after you install the ecommerce demo

Theme options are globally applied to your site, so you can only have one set of those per install – however you can definitely use pages from any of the demos on one install.
