Just updated to version 8 and reactivated my child theme and now it seems the studio works fine and almost everything works but it also seems the dynamic sidebar (Widgetized Sidebar Element) from the visual composer is gone – which would suck because I have based two client website on this element. Can you let me know if they are gone forever or if there is just a bug?

No i was referring to the stuff that other users have reported below and on the next pages. It seems that some smaller bugs have slipped into version 8. I am just having the problem with the missing widgetized sidebar element.

By the way I found some more bugs with 8.0:
1. The progress bars do not work properly. You enter a title and value and save and then when you reload the page nothing happens.
2. The extra class/ID names are not output when assigned to a single image element.

But I tested on two salient 8.0 installations and both times the same bugs appeared.

Could you please list the issues you’re having with svg files and where you’re using them? Also if you have theme templates files in a child theme, you’d need to update them to reflect the current state of the parent styles
Hey there. I will check that again. I am very sure I updated the child theme as well. Let me see… Anyway, the SVG files became very small suddenly and the SVG Logo in the header disappeared. I will look into it again. Thank you.
Ok… either the svg in the pages get really tiny with the child theme or the header logo disappears with the regular theme. That’s pretty weird, no?
You have a suggestion for another SVG plugin, besides SVG Support, wich usually works flawless? Thank you.

great update to 8.0. I’ve installed. On my site it works, but the wp-admin page doesn’t work anymore with the salient VC. If I remove it from the plugin dir, it works again.

Problem found, for any strange reason, the ‘salient-studio-templates.php’ file was missing… I installed this theme via uploading the ZIP via themes.

The plugin and theme are two separate things, TF prohibits building plugins to be built into the theme

Is there a way to set a Full Width Background image that maintains the height of the actual image? For example, if my image height is 500, how do I do this? As for now, it stretches the image to full screen height.

Every time. Every time I think “its time to refresh my theme and try something else” you do something to keep me around. And you’ve done it again. Version 8 blows my mind. Salient Studio? Brilliant. I’ve been planning a complete overhaul of my site: what would have taken me over a month is only going to take me about a week. Awesome stuff.

I was wondering… did you change anything in the search.php file after the v8 update?
Because I had a code with was fixing salient soft 404 errors on Google.
And I was using this code. http://imgur.com/a/qr8N7 from line 3 to 9. But after the update to v8 that code stopped working, the header still returns 200ok which is going to return a soft 404 error in google again. Before the update to v8 and with that code in the search.php file the header was returning hard 404 which was correct.

Hey seseskiz, the search.php file was unchanged in 8.0 – but as mentioned previously the way WordPress handles the search response when no results are found is not something specific to Salient but rather thee WP core
That code fixed all the soft 404s but after the update i thought you might have changed something… but anyways, i’ll see what i can do, and i take ur point on WP core. thanks

In the top bar, which I think this theme calls the secondary menu, it seems like the only thing you can put there is social icons. Is there a way to put in phone number with a link? That’s really important in mobile mode. Thanks.

You can also assign a menu to the location in appearance > menus which could contain a phone number set from a custom link if desired
