Hi,
Am new to WP and the Salient Template. And the two are amazing!
Having inherited the task of re-designing a site that uses Salient, I have set up a staging server where we are trying to improve things step-by-step. And we are encountering a couple of vexing problems:
1) We are using 3 slides for the nectar slider and are unsuccessful in trying to get the heading text on each slide to render in Light or Dark depending on the slide. We have set Slide Font Color appropriately yet it does not render as expected. We also tried Custom CSS to no avail.
2) We want to use a full-page hero image and have clickable icons sitting in the lower portion of the hero image. How do we do this? Not knowing how to achieve this, we have currently put 4 icons in a new row below the nectar slider.

2) We would also like the icons that read “Patient”, “Community Member”, “Researcher” etc to be placed within the lower portion of the hero image as clickable icons. How can this be done (if at all possible) ? It will save us an extra row on the landing page.
Some pointers on how to address the above 2 problems will be much appreciated.

1. The fix for the Nectar Slider coloring is coming in 8.0.1 – to remedy it now just add this into the custom css box located in your Salient Options panel:
body .nectar-slider-wrap[data-full-width="true"] .swiper-slide[data-color-scheme="dark"] .content h2 {
color: #000!important;
}
2. The best way to achieve this would indeed be inside of a visual composer row, this can you can control the content/sizing fully. To have the header sit transparent on top of your VC row you can use the force transparency option in your page header settings metabox at the bottom of your edit page screen

Hello! I need help with some customization (support page is under maintenance), This is my page www.symarentalsystem.com.mx My “Accent Color” is the same color as my “Menu Background Color”, can i change this setting so when i try to click on, for example, a social media icon it doesn’t disappear? I’ve fixed the accent-color issue but my social icons still disappear, is this normal? When i try to click on them, they disappear. They work but i don’t like how it looks. Thanks!

In your header color scheme it seems you have the nav hover color set to ”#0072bc” which is the same as the background color

The nectar video lightbox will display the image at whatever size you supply it at, the images you’re supplying are simply different dimensions than the ones used in the demo. The reason there’s more spacing between the columns in the demo is because the columns have a 1% padding set – you can do this in the VC column options http://imgur.com/a/0zaKv

As of today for some reason my content is showing on the homepage. I removed the Nector Slider from the page and the content shows up. So the Nectar slider is keeping my website from showing info on the page. Any help would appreciated
It actually has to do with this plugin: Salient Visual Composer
I figured it out. It’s the Parallax that you apply to the Nectar Slider that is keeping the page information from showing up. Is this an issue you can resolve in your next update?
Hey austinoreilly, there’s currently no known issue where using a parallax slider would remove page content – make sure you have the nectar slider in its own row when using the parallax option though. If you already did, please share the URL in regards so I can assist
The Nector Slider is and was in the top row by itself. It happened after installing an ad roll plugin. I turned off the Parallax and now it’s working. So I’m were good to go. Thank you!

Yes – in the Salient options panel > portfolio > functionality tab there’s a field for that called “Main Portfolio Page URL”

Do you have a recommended plugin for creating a Megamenu (one that can contain content, not only menu items)? I’m looking at https://codecanyon.net/item/wordpress-mega-menu/18039563 but I would like one that won’t require any modification of your theme (CSS mods are ok, but I don’t want to replace any code in your theme files).

I haven’t personally tested with that plugin, and ubermenu does require a header.php mod through the child theme – but last I checked they provided that on their site

I updated my website and now the visual composer has stopped working… It just says “Loading, please wait…” I have uploaded all the plugins on my website and I’m guessing it’s a issue with visual composer but as that came with the theme I’m not able to physically update that plugin.
Hey, there’s no known issue with the current version of Salient VC (5.0.1) not being able to load – do you have third party plugins active as well and if so have you tried to temp disable them to check for a conflict?
Reporting a bug:
Bug is when you have Passepartout (the border around the website function) set to active and you have a webpage using the Page Submenu element. Once you scroll to the submenu and it tries to anchor to the top of the browser, it ends up attaching not to the border of the Passepartout but the actual top browser edge. Therefore making the alignment off since the above menu item text will be less ‘submenu white space’ than there is on the bottom part of the submenu.

Feature request: Cascading Images Animation Duration
Would be amazing if you could set how long the fade-in animations go for in the cascading images. Currently they’re a little too fast for one of my designs and would love to slow it down a bit to get some epic effects.

Hello, Please help me to add weight and style font options to my Child theme. Here’s I found great instruction how to add a custom font. https://themenectar.ticksy.com/article/9773/ It works well. But in the fields “Font weight & style” I have only 4 options by default – “Normal 400, Bold 700…”. I would like to add this array ‘100’: ‘Ultra-Light 100’, ‘200’: ‘Light 200’, ‘300’: ‘Book 300’, ‘400’: ‘Normal 400’, ‘500’: ‘Medium 500’, ‘600’: ‘Semi-Bold 600’, ‘700’: ‘Bold 700’, ‘800’: ‘Extra-Bold 800’, ‘100italic’: ‘Ultra-Light 100 Italic’, ‘300italic’: ‘Book 300 Italic’, ‘400italic’: ‘Normal 400 Italic’, ‘700italic’: ‘Bold 700 Italic’ and have it by default in my dropdown for font weight and style. Please help me to add this options to my child theme.

Hey, as of now this wouldn’t be possible through a child theme without enqueuing a custom version of nectar/redux-framework/ReduxCore/inc/fields/typography/field-typography.js as the values are set in there at line 386

I am using team-member meta_overlaid_alt and trying to move the name and job position hover down. I have already utilized :active for my own custom image overlay but would really like the hover meta to be lower in the cell. I have tried adding padding-top for the element into the custom CSS but its not moving.

Salient Theme One Page with Fullscreen Rows doesn’t seem to be working with Contact Form 7 and Chrome. It works and has been tested in Edge, Firefox, and the full screen rows have been disabled on Mobile, so it works there, but it is not working in Chrome. Radio Buttons are stuck and the Submit button won’t work either.

That is a very good question. I don’t seem to have an issue with it at my work computer, only my laptop. I think it is safe to say it is isolated to my laptop and I need to maybe uninstall and reinstall some Chrome Extensions as well as maybe uninstall and reinstall the Chrome browser.
