Hi, nice template but today I upgraded Joomla to 3.8 and an error appears:

I read some directories removed in Joomla 3.8, so this is the bug with Flex template. Please fix template issue with Joomla 3.8. Regards L.

Flex template should work with new Joomla 3.8, but “error” page is showing blank (error) page. The (quick) fix for this is updated “error.php” file on your website: templates/flex/error.php. Please, just download this file: https://flex.aplikko.com/images/uploads/error-page.zip , unzip and replace old one (/templates/flex/error.php).
New Flex update is going to be released this week with all the new features and fixes, including Joomla 3.8 compatibility.

Hi Aplikko, thanks for quick fix. It works. Just a question… with the template error page I haven’t development error messages but only a page with the “We’re sorry, but the page you were looking for doesn’t exist.” text. How can I activate php errors so I can debug my custom joomla component? I’ve already enabled development debug in Joomla back-end but it doesn’t help. Thanks in advance

Error page is unique page that is different from any other page, and cannot “load” component, only module, but the module needs to have “404” module position:
The message: “We’re sorry, but the page you were looking for doesn’t exist.” is coming from language/en-GB/en-GB.tpl_flex.ini (template’s language file – en-GB.tpl_flex.ini).
I guess a problem is also SP Page Builder – I think I remember that i have read that before updating to J3.8, one should update SP Page Builder to 2.53 in order to make it compatible with J3.8.

Yes, the important thing is to update SP Page Builder (2.5.3) first, and then update Joomla 3.8.

The problem is with SP Page Builder Pro, prior to versions 2.5.2 (and 2.5.3). If you have Flex 2.6 (latest release), then you have SP Page Builder 2.5.1, which is not fully compatible with new Joomla 3.8. Compatibility for Joomla 3.8 has been added to SP Page Builder 2.5.2 recently. You can see it here: https://www.joomshaper.com/downloads/extension/sp-page-builder-pro > Click on “Changelog”.
Fortunately, there is a fix for this:
Please, download this file: https://flex.aplikko.com/images/uploads/mod_sppagebuilder_admin_menu.zip and unzip it (replace) old folder on your website: /.../administrator/modules/mod_sppagebuilder_admin_menu. This should fix the admin menu (administrator) and work fine with Joomla 3.8.

I’m just wondering if there’s a different website where I can test this template. The demo seems jam packed with stuff and the load times are quite slow. Additionally the scroll gets gritty once I scroll past the very top slider image so I hope thats because of the size. Is anyone else noticing this or is it my computer? it happens on Firefox & Chrome. I love the layout and flexibility though!

Yes, it is true that the demo is “jam packed with stuff”, and the purpose is to show as much as possible on the single page, to “demo” content. For sure, if you have less content on pages, your pages are becoming faster (load times).

No, you don’t need SPPB (SP Page Builde)r to “run” the template. SP Page Builder is awesome Page Builder, short-code generator, that is making your life easier when it comes to creating website content, but it is not mandatory, you can still create standard Joomla content (articles) without SPPB.

Thank you! If you mean Ajax Contact form for SP Page Builder ( demo example: https://flex.aplikko.com/page-builder/addons-list-3/contact-form ) then it is not possible to add “custom” fields or checkbox. It is simple (ajax based) contact form.

After a recent update, my website now shows the Category Name on the website incorrectly.
Instead of say “Optimisation” it shows “COM_SPPAGEBUILDER_ADDON_CATEGORYOptimisation”.
As COM_SPPAGEBUILDER_ADDON_CATEGORY appears under the back-end text box where the category to be used is entered, I presume this is the schema name for this item.
Is this a known bug from the latest version release? If so, when will it be corrected?

No, this is not known issue. “COM_SPPAGEBUILDER_ADDON_CATEGORY” is a language string for “Latest Posts” addon for SP Page Builder and it is working fine. Do you have Flex 2.6 (template) installed? I have checked it today and it is working fine.

I think that the problem could be with Joomla’s “Editor”, probably TinyMCE, which is almost always stripping tags from HTML content (in editor), for example or (for icons) tags. For example on our demo page: flex.aplikko.com/pages/typography, you will find “Bullets and Lists” or “Dropcaps”, which have some of those tags (span, icons, etc.).
You can apply “fix” for valid elements (tags) in your administrator > Plugins > Editor – TinyMCE. This allows element (tags) like or (for icons, FontAwesome) and and others that are not supported by default in HTML content, because of security, to be “allowed” So, if you put this: [] in the field “Valid Elements” in Plugins > Editor – TinyMCE.

You only need to “reload page” when you resize window, if you have “Boxed layout” active. Is that right? This is not an issue, because boxed layout is loading certain javascripts which are necessary for “fluid” layout in “Boxed” layout, specially for SP Page Builder pages.
So, nothing to worry about. Whoever is using tablet/mobile will have this loaded properly.

Hello I love the template except only one thing: In order properly customize template or use page builder, MANY clicks and repeated tasks are needed, just because that Apply button closes specific item setting. Both in template and page manager area. After that I need to press Save template button. If not satisfied, I need to search for particular setting again, search for button, click to open setting popup and locate specific setting line. Again and again, and this quickly became frustrating. And time consuming. It would be beyond awesome if pressing Apply button would keep popup setting window opened, save setting, and we could preview applied change by simply refreshing front-end in another window. When finished we could press Close or Apply and close. Like what editing articles does. Current approach simply takes too much time and clicking to achieve desired result. I know that fixing this isn’t trivial but I hope that future updates will address this. Best Regards

I have to say that you’re 100% right. It bothered me as well, in the beginning, but I got use to it, so I am not looking to it as a problem. Yes, it would be awesome if the developers of Helix3 framework introduce “ajax” saving, which will avoid additional “clicks”. I read somewhere on Joomshaper’s website that they are developing new Helix framework. If you exclude this “saving clicks”, Helix framework is pretty good, wouldn’t you say?
I believe that the Joomshaper’s developers will update Helix and it will be very good, hopefully with “ajax” saving, like they have it in SP Page Builder (pro).

You can change all colors in template’s admin, using various options. You can find more about template’s admin in our documentation: http://documentation.aplikko.com/flex/#Basic_Settings .
As for “main color”, they are also in template’s admin > Presets: http://documentation.aplikko.com/flex/#Presets_Settings .

With the latest update, I cannot change preset colors. If I change the major color, it doesn’t not update on the site. Less to CSS is enabled and I have cleared Joomla’s cache, the browser cache, and cloudflare’s cache. Still no effect. It was working fine in the last version until this past update.

No changes have been made in template (latest Flex 2.6), when it comes to Less Compiler and “Presets”, so it is hard to believe that it is not updating major color, after clearing browser’s and Joomla’s cache.
It must be something with your cache. Try your website in other browser (for example Firefox) if your default browser is Chrome, or you can apply “hard refresh” CTRL + Shift + R (Command + Shift + R for Mac).
I tested both Quickstarts today and Less Compiler is compiling fine (Less to CSS).

“Latest Posts” addon has “equal heights” by default. You don’t need to apply anything additional.
I couldn’t find style=”height: 272px;” on Home Version 3: https://flex.aplikko.com/home/home-version-3 > Source Code. Latest Posts has pre-defined class “match-height” which is triggering javascript https://flex.aplikko.com/templates/flex/js/matchheight.js and by it showing equal height for Latest Posts columns.
Ah… i see the height applied when i open the website in Firefox’s inspector (ctrl+shift+c). so i guess that’s what the JS does. it does not do that on my homepage. have to figure out why then.
