Anyone else having trouble with Salient JS Composer with the latest 8.5.0 update? I found that after installing the plugin, I was unable to edit any pages or posts as a blank page would appear every time I clicked ‘edit’ on a page or post.
I reverted to the previous version of the Salient theme and Salient JS Composer and everything seemed to work again and I was able to edit pages and posts

If the page was entirely blank white, this sounds like your WP setup running out of memory. You could check your php error log to confirm this, or you could just try asking your hosting company to increase your available memory allocated to php

Hello again, I just updated to the latest version of the Salient theme and JS composer and I’m having the same issue where I’m unable to edit any pages or posts as a blank page appears every time I clicked ’edit’ on a page or post.
I’ve increased the PHP memory limit to 512mb and have tried disabling plugins to see if there was a conflict but that didn’t work either.
Any suggestions as to what might be causing this? Thanks

You can includes scripts via a child theme or one could technically be added via the “Google Analytics” field in the CSS/Script related tab in the Salient options panel

Hello, I’m using the minimal portfolio template with default 12 Masonry Portfolio entries/items, though no matter what I do only 3 items are showing on front home page gspade.com. In my Portfolio area there is the 12 Salient default Portfolio entries. In the VC portfolio settings I’ve set it to display unlimited and tried 12. I even just did a whole install of a new WP and Salient install. Mobile seems perfect, just desktop.

Are you using an adblock plugin? If so, you’ll need to rename your portfolio category from “adverts” to something else as that’s probably blocking it

struggling with a z index issue? I’m trying to get the 3 columns And their content to pull up over the top row above it that contains a slider + row seperator. I seem to be able to get the column to rise above like expected, but all the content in it stays in its row below where I want it. See screen: http://prntscr.com/h1nilx
also to note, The row w the 3 columns has a z index of 100 and the row above it with the rev slider has no z index labeled

Hey, translates work similar to margins expect they won’t interfere with the flow of the rest of the document. The values you’d enter in for them would be the same as what you’d put in for a margin i.e. “100px”, “-10%” etc.

I will be working on a pretty big magazine-site gig in the next couple of months, and wasn’t in love with the other options. This might’ve just made my life a lot easier.
Had a couple questions:
1.) Are you able to open that amazing off-canvas section using a menu button (ie. Download Ebook) as opposed to using the burger icon?
2.) Anywhere I can see an updated list of all Single Post Examples?
3.) Do you offer custom development work at all, if we were to have a feature request?

1. As of now only the actual off canvas button can trigger it
2. The new demos show off all that’s been added to the single post layouts – the biggest additions were the related posts, next/previous post buttons (there’s multiple styles for each)
3. I don’t personally do freelance work but you am always open to feature requests

Hi Guys, I am attempting to make all of the blogposts the same. We like the Large Featured Post style which appears sporadically throughout the masonry style. (A Square box with the title of the post on the left and the image to the right.) Is it possible to apply this style to all blogposts? Many thanks in advance for any assistance your may give us. You can manually select that style for every post if desired in the post settings, however a new standard post style has been added called “Featured image left style” in 8.5.0 which is similar and could be applied without any of the hassle to all posts

Hi and thank you for such a prompt and accurate response. Just downloaded the latest version. My worry is that we are using a child theme. Do I just simply replace the older Salient.zip with the newer one? Will this effect our amends we have made in the live child theme? Thank you again! Jen
Update: We tried using first the EnvatoMarket plugin to update, this did not provide an update option on the theme. Secondly we tried Easy Update Plugin from Wordpress Plugin library and this too did not provide an update option. In fact, trying these options broke the theme. We needed to contact the hosting support to have them correct the theme. The mentioned that it was PHP 7 which caused the conflict. We are now back to Square 1, looking for a way to update the theme without breaking anything! We are using a child theme too if that helps in any way.
Fresh Update: We updated the theme via Filezilla for anyone who might need to do the same. We renamed the old theme to Salient-Old then uploaded the new zip. We unzipped from the cPanel and from there we went into the themes page in Wordpress and deleted the older one.

The Shape Divider was built exclusively for Salient, as with many of the other options/elements. As of now, it can not be separated from the theme to use with other themes

Love the new update, but one issue on my end: it has significantly slowed my site. Compare whiskeyandred.staging.wpengine.com to whiskeyandred.com. It’s not a staging issue, I went live with the changes and saw the slowdown; had to revert the site.
Is anyone else experiencing the same issue?

I just checked both your URLs on two machines without any cache and are seeing them load (quite) fast at the same rate. If you are using a CDN and have caching set up, those may have just needed to be rebuilt after updating – are you still experiencing this issue on your end?

I tried finding this answer in all the comments but couldn’t. Basically, I don’t want my header to shrink when scrolling. I have my logo height and header padding set exactly where I want it, not too big, not too small. But when scrolling it does go too small. Is there some way I can have the header not resize on scroll?

Hi. As I’m sure you know, I love your theme. But one thing that causes me a lot of difficulty is I don’t have consistent control over the header. For example, I can’t get rid of it without code. I can’t move the text on the left for the portfolio. All kinds of stuff like this, how come each post type (not sure if that is the right term) doesn’t offer me full or at least more control over the header?

The issue I’m having is the video will only load the first time in safari, when I reload the page the video stalls on a still frame. I am using both mp4 and webM.

Hello! Recently update Salient to its latest version (8.5) First try doing it through Envato Toolkit but it was not possible. Finally I achieve it by FTP, uploading the complete Salient folder in its latest version. Also update VC. The web works fine but when I want to enter any options of Salient (General Settings, Footer, Blog, etc) I get a 500 Internal Server Error. Do you have any idea what is wrong? Greetings.

There could be a bug in the Overflowing Team Members template. In the Page Builder, the first and second team members are the same. As a result, you can’t remove Ava Morgan from the list.
