Thinking about purchasing, does this theme support MailChimp email signup or any other bulk email platforms?

Hello, thanks for your interest in the theme. Podcaster is not optimised to work with MailChimp, but depending on what you want to do, you can make it work. If you only wish to use their sidebar widget, this can be done. Anything more is not supported I’m afraid.

Looking to just have a newsletter sign up someonenon bottom/footer.

So, you can add a shortcode to the footer area (the place that says “Powered by Podcaster for WordPress.”) and display a form there. CSS would still need to be adjusted, but it should work. I hope helps :)

Where I updated the theme it broke my new wordpress installation. to 4.9.1 Please update because I can not post anything.

Hello, may I ask what version of Podcaster as well as WordPress you are currently running? That will make it easier to answer your question.

Yes I am using version 1.6.9 or the newest version on here and wordpress version 4.9.1

Thanks for your reply. May I ask what error you are getting? Are you able to log in at all? Could you please send screenshots of the error you are getting to support@themestation.net. I’ll take a closer look at it.

Hi there, I’d love to know if there is a way to to make a featured photo appear on the category archive pages. Thanks in advance!

It’s fine, do not worry and thanks!

Got a couple of more questions I’d like to go straight:

a) some 4 months ago I asked about the child theme (deprecated @import feature) and you told there will be an update soon: will I get notified about this even if my 6 months of support are expiring? Will I be able to upgrade the same?

b) I’m having a problem with the id="*" function for anchors: tried to refer to the anchor with standard <a href="#xyz">...</a> (paragraph on the same page), but none of the following worked: 1. <h3 id="xyz" style="text-align: left;">...</h3> 2. <h3 a="" name="xyz" style="text-align: left;">...</h3> 3. <h3 style="text-align: left;"><a name="xyz"></a>...</h3> 4. <h3 style="text-align: left;"><a name="xyz"></a>...</h3> 5. <a name="xyz"></a><h3 style="text-align: left;">...</h3> I’m starting thinking that probably I’m conflicting with some Podcaster’s feature: can you please tell me if I’m wrong?

Thanks.

Also, just a quick adding on top of that.

Permalinks editing with Yoast SEO Plugin seems to not work properly: if the category base removal is activated your Podcast Archive Page will not show as a grid (which I just tried, don’t know if it does apply also to the “list” option), but as a standard Archive category/tag page.

Which, of course, it is a bit unpleasant as this is maybe the most beautiful Podcaster feature.

Can you help me out solve this one too?

Thanks again.

Hi there, I’ll get right to your questions:

a) The @import issue for child themes was changed in a recent update. You should receive a notice when the theme is updated by email and if you have Envato Market set up to handle your themes, a notification should appear among your WordPress updates as well. Yes, this will continue even after your six months support ends.

b) Just a question: Is this something that is happening when you’re writing posts or pages? Are you trying to link to content within the same document using the id feature? I just tried this out using the #xyz as href and xyz as the id name for a title and it worked on my end. Just let me know, I’d be happy to help make it work on yours.

c) You would like to use the category permalink structure (example.com/category/podcast) but keep the layout from the Podcast Archive Page, am I correct? The Podcast Archive Page is a custom template as you may have noticed, so it follows the page permalink structure. As for now, there is no easy way of doing this, aside from creating a custom category page template. Podcaster will go through a huge update soon, so I’ll keep this in mind.

I am using Castos Seriously Simple Podcasting and therefore when I add episodes of my podcast I don’t have the option to add them to a category. However I want it to be that only my actual podcasts end up in the featured section on the homepage. What is the best way to do this?

Hello, you should be able to select SSP “series” within the theme options as well. Simply add you posts to a series, then head to Theme Options > Podcast and select the series from the drop down menu. That should do the job.

The latest update fixed the header text color issue. Thank you! I have another question – On single posts, images in the sidebar widget are dimmed until you mouse over them. Is this an effect I can turn off from the control panel or perhaps override with a custom style in a child theme? It’s really not the look we want but I haven’t been able to figure out how it works. Thanks again!

Hello, Podcaster works with opacity to manage links. You couild try using

.sidebar a:link, .sidebar a:visited { opacity: 1; }

You could also add the specific widget class, if you want to limit this effect like so:

.sidebar.widget_media_image a:link, .sidebar.widget_media_image a:visited { opacity: 1; }

I hop this helps!

Hey guys, is Theme Options working? Looks like a broken link to me. I installed the theme following the instructions but cant’s access Theme Options! Please help me with that… nothing working…

Yes, do try that. By the way, I was looking at the page code. The page is blank of course, but the code loads a few lines at the top then cuts off. It could be a server setting on your hosts side, do let me know what they say because this is the first time I’ve run into this as well.

In the end I removed everything and started all over, and it’s worked :) The GoDaddy Hosting Wizard installs some pre-stuff that were blocking it, just deleted and started from scratch.

Just a little help, is there a way to keep this podcasts blocks as lines and not as columns?? https://imgur.com/a/guTkn . I couldn’t find how to manage it.

Thanks for the reply, and thanks for letting me know about the Godaddy settings.

As for the blocks, if you are viewing Podcaster in a narrower screen, such as a laptop or tablet smaller than 1198px, it will automatically display columns instead of rows, since it is responsive. So that is actually a feature not a bug. In wider screens, you get rows again. I hope that explains it :)

I’m having trouble finding which theme option controls the header title text on Pages. I tried adjusting the item “Page Header Title Color” in Theme Options / Colors, but that doesn’t seem to do it. No matter what I set it to the page title in the header area is always black.

Little bit more information – it looks like the color I set in the control panel is making it correctly into a <style> tag when the page is generated, however it’s being overridden by another style that also targets (among other things) ”.page .reg .heading” and sets color to #000000

Thanks for the feedback, this is being looked into! :)

I am having trouble getting my Contact page to work correctly. I have installed Contact Form 7.

Hello, thanks for getting in touch. There are currently two Contact Us links on your page. One leads to a 404 page and the other one looks fine. Could you let me know what exactly is giving you trouble? Thanks :)

As GoldenLassoGirl posted already, there is an error in the search function. Please let me know, when you will provide the fix and how. Will this be an update?

Hello, thanks for getting in touch. There will be an update released by tomorrow with a fix. Thanks for your patience. :)

Hello, just letting you know that the new version of Podcaster (1.6.9) is on it’s way and should be read for update within the next couple of hours.

Hi! It seems that the search function at the top of the page has stopped working for us. I haven’t changed any of the plugins since it was working last. I tried turning them off anyway but still got the error:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘)’, expecting ’,’ or ’;’ in /homepages/41/d102070740/htdocs/happyjacks/wp-content/themes/podcaster/search.php on line 56

Any ideas?

You’re the best! Thank you so much! :)

Any chance we could get a twitch social media icon added someday too? :D

Twitch Icons sounds like an addition that can be made. :)

Hello, just letting you know that the new version of Podcaster (1.6.9) is on it’s way and should be read for update within the next couple of hours.

Seems like many people are working with multiple podcasts like I hope to do. Personally, I just want the slider to rotate between the podcasts, and I would think that could be done with a hack that made it rotate through categories, and I could specify a different category (in addition to the podcast category) for each show. Anybody have success with such a thing, or want to share how you made this great theme work with your network?

Just replied to your email :)

Haven’t seen it? mbdavis@gmail.com

Yes, that is the email address I responded. I’ve sent it out again just to be sure.

it would appear the update broke the nav my nested nav is now always open www.8bitbros.us

I now know this to be the case my sandbox install is fine with a template that has not been updated

Hello, I’m sorry to hear about that. While it’s being looked into, adding the following hotfix to your child theme should help: #nav .thst-menu li.menu-item-has-children .sub-menu { opacity:0; }

thank you that worked

I wanted to use the yellow sticky header preset but I believe I need to add the css file associated with this preset. It seems to do so, a child theme needed to be created, so I did so, but have no idea where to add the css file that is in the podcaster-child folder. I also might be skipping over a simple option, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you have the Envato Market plugin installed and set up, you should receive an update notification on your WordPress Update page and should be able to install it right there. In case you haven’t set up the plugin yet, you can find out how to do it here: http://themestation.co/documentation/podcaster/#updates

Okay this seems to have fixed this issue, thanks a bunch! I was also wondering how to edit the Header text on the podcast archive page. For my page I titled it “Podcast” and it shows up on my background in black text which is fairly unreadable, is there a way to edit the color of this, or have it not show up entirely? Also did I setup the archive page correctly? I created a page and used the archive template, then I created a podcast category. I then added the podcast page into the menu system. Thanks for all your help so far. Here is the link to the page in question: http://anhourwithmother.com/an-hour-with-mother/podcast/

Just a heads up that this is being looked into. I’ll get back to you as soon as it’s resolved. I apologize for the inconvenience.

Hello.

I had a problems with child template and I made a changes on bootstrap and CSS. Would be some problems with it?

Hey there, did you make the changes to the themes code directly? If yes, simply copy the files you made into your child theme. (Make sure to create directories if the files you edited were in sub-directories). Then get a fresh copy of the theme, and replace the files you edited in the parent theme. That way your changes will be safe within the child theme when an update rolls around and the parent files will be untouched. :)

Hello there! Very interested in purchasing. I’ve read you were implementing RTL. Can you confirm this? Thanks!

Yes, Podcaster has supports RTL. The theme can be mirrored and is translation ready. Due to recent updates, there are some hard-coded strings that still need to be added to the translation files though. That will happen soon.

Can we setup a featured video (latest episode) on the homepage? All demos show only audios on top?

Also are grids supported?

Thanks for showing interest in Podcaster. Yes, featured videos are supported as well.

Not sure what you mean with grids, could you elaborate? Thanks.

I need to 1) setup latest episode / or featured episode on top, on homepage. 2) Below it needs to be grid of previous episodes, preferably in 3 column layout.

Hey there, if you wish to make these changes to the theme yourself if you purchase it, you are more that welcome do to this. However, the theme is as presented within the demo. I hope this answers your question.

Is there a way to exclude some posts within the mail list in Front Page, for example the last podcast, which is usually already in the Front Page Header as featured post?

Ok, just a heads up, have you set your podcast archive category already? That should keep the posts limited to that category and exclude unwanted posts from other categories from appearing in the header. :)

Well, the problem is solved then! There’s a similar issue with the blog though: the last sticky post appears there even if is not in the blog category. So I see now what was your leading idea while designing the theme, however I’d like to receive info on those php functions in order to be able to edit them: can you please help?

The functions for the headers are all found in a file called featured-header.php. They are called pod_featured_header_text(); pod_featured_header_static(); pod_featured_header_static_posts(); and pod_featured_header_slideshow(); respectively. Depending on the setting you are using, you can copy and edit the function you need. I hope this helps.

Hi there,

I have a small issue with my podcast archive page.

I created a category in which I’m putting all my podcast as audio posts, but even if I indicate that category in the form (Theme Option > Podcast) the archive page results as just a normal archive page (with widget sidebar on the right and the writing “Category: category_name on the top), while I was expecting something like this: http://demo.themestation.co/podcaster-yellow/podcast-archive/

Can you tell where is my mistake here?

Thanks

This is solved as well.

Happy to see you figured this out. I’ll close this thread for now :)

thanks

Was there ever a fix for the mobile view scaling issue from 2 years ago? caseyplusnatasha asked the question and I don’t see a response. I’m seeing the same issue in my posts. The page is fine, but the posts are unusable.

Thanks for the info and the link. Did you make any customizations, CSS or otherwise? Something in the set up of the posts, seems to be breaking the responsiveness. Another thing that could be causing this is a plugin that inserts content into your posts. Do let me know if any of this is the case.

I’m using Seriously Simple Podcasting to manage my podcast..

Seriously Simple Podcasting is supported by Podcaster so this isn’t what is causing the issue. It must be another plugin. Try deactivating your plugins until the responsiveness stops breaking. That way you can find out which one is breaking the layout.

I’m using a Hebrew version of WordPress, but still yet there are strings that are in English. What is the procedure of translating the theme? Which files should be translated and under what name should it be saved for Hebrew? Thank you.

Replied to your email :)

Thank you. Reply sent :-)
