Hello, I have installed Avada, but menu won’t show in smartphone. Site is www.sandrabrandt.nl. I have tried deactivating plugins and activating again, but it does still not work.

The only possible reason for this is when you do not have the menu assigned as your “Main Navigation” from Appearance > Menus section so you need to make sure that you assign the menu from there and it should come up on mobile too, however if some 3rd party plugin is causing this issue than we need to check on your site.

Hi thanks, a lot. I was a 3rd party plugin: ‘Insert Headers and Footers’. After deactivating this plugin, the menu did appear. Very happy person here. Thanks again.

That is definitely going to be the user’s choice actually, however there is a difference between both and for starters we will suggest using Fusion Slider as its easy to setup and use, Revolution Slider however gives more freedom but requires some basic info to setup however both are wonderful and that is why they are a part of our theme package :)

Hello,

I have purchased the Avada theme and I am looking to manually update my version of Avada to the most recent release.

However, I am unable to access the account I purchased the theme from as I do not know my username/email used in purchasing. I have my product registration code that I can provide if that can be used in locating my account credentials.

The images are user content so we do not keep a record of it, however we do have the resources from where we bought them mentioned above.

Hey guys, I’m not sure what’s going on, but every site I’ve updated for clients in the last few days results in an issue when updating the plugins – specifically the Fusion Builder – and I’ve never encountered this issue before.

Here’s part of my error message:

“Plugin update failed.

Plugin not activated. A higher version of Fusion Builder is needed for this theme. Please update the plugin.”

I use your theme exclusively on client sites so you can imagine how this issue is becoming a pain in my ass. I’ve had to log in using FTP, remove the Fusion Builder plugin folder completely, then install and activate it fresh from the admin panel.

So…what am I missing? What’s going on and what can I do to ensure a seamless update of the Fusion Builder plugin – without having to use FTP, etc.?

I have just replied to someone else regarding the same thing, and this will happen if your servers directory permission has changed or is not set correctly. You have said that this has not happened before? In that case, has the servers CHMOD changed? That needs to be checked

If you can create a ticket for us right now while it’s not working we can have a developer check it asap. The problem is we cannot replicate it and need to see it broken to figure out why it is happening.

OMG what a right mess this is.

So this is just a theme – nothing else. So for us that do not use cPanel we must first upload and install wordpress, then we unzip the directories within directories of this and then upload that (via FTP) to then find you need to register so off we go and register then we need to go back and upload plugins which are not included in the installation package – but hey, we cannot upload them because all we get is this error “Plugin not activated. A higher version of Fusion Core is needed for this theme. Please update the plugin.”

So essentially for a new install of WP there’s no physical way to install the plugins.

Nightmare and what a joke having to register twice and also enter codes left, right & centre then sort out the mis-managed directory ordering and duplicates.

I mean who in their right mind has /Avada/Avada/Avada/ JUST to access the theme!

Sorry but not impressed guys. Awfully frustrating and not really a finished item to sell is it?

Have raised a support ticket but similarly, I am not giving anyone access to FTP as it is a shared account with over 10 sites on it so cannot do this. All I want is the files required to run the theme.

And now you have people saying they were hacked – I am not surprised as it is a right mess.

EDIT – Cannot import the demo’s – getting another error

Demo server couldn’t be reached. Please check for wp_remote_get on the System Status page.

So cannot install the demo’s now either! Even after eventually finding the missing plugins and installing those!

Yes Avada is just a WordPress theme, as is any theme that you install into WordPress. A WordPress theme is installed in one of two ways only, via the WordPress Dashboard or manually via FTP, it is your choice

Plugins like the Fusion Builder, sliders etc are installed via the Avada >> Plugins section. It is straight forward and worked for hundreds of thousands without fail. I checked our system and see that you have created a support ticket, with differing informations

“the server is locked so need to manually upload via ftp as the system cannot create directories. Reason? We are a web hosting firm and the server this site sits on is a master server account so I cannot give you FTP or unlock directory creation.”

New plugin installation failure will most likely have been due to the directory permissions, and yes, can be installed manually if needed. The link to this will be sent in your support ticket

We have never seen a directory like that, I suggest checking your server and Apache settings. This is the default directory structure -> /public_html/wp-content/themes

And regarding FTP access, fair enough use can understand that, but you do know you can insulate any FTP login to a specific directory only.

wp_remote_get is required and recommended, if it is not set for your server we suggest you check into that. Even WordPress requires it (WordPress Codex) -> http://bit.ly/2u8Nwxt

Thanks for the reply – we managed to get around the root permission issues on the server by loading to a different server, installing it all then exporting and re-installing on the locked server.

Seems to have sorted it – thanks guys. :)

For anyone else, the errors occur if you try and upload via root ftp – best to create a new ftp account for the site to avoid the server directory permission errors.

Well, what we do know is the theme and plugins are actually not bugged, if they were we would know about it in massive numbers, very quickly; And this is not the case. There are several key points to note:

- We have the Avada Patcher Tool that allows us to push fixes, improvements to all Avada installs at short notice -> http://bit.ly/1NAWVwM

- All bundled plugins can be updated independent of the theme update. If an issue did occur with a bundled plugin and a new version is released, then updating it without needing to update the theme can be done.

- Avada and all other themes found on Themeforest have to adhere to very strict PHP and WordPress coding standards, including stringent security compliance. Each update of the theme is checked and verified by Envato to ensure compliance and stability. Anything that does not meet these requirements is dealt with accordingly

- Being ‘hacked’ can mean a hundred different things and furthermore, can originate from a hundred different avenues. Insecure passwords, insecure FTP, unmaintained 3rd party plugins, web host security, not updating the theme and plugins regularly, incorrect WordPress file and directory permissions levels, server directory indexing and the list goes on and on

You can definitely use Revolution Slider with one page parallax in our theme, there is no issue with that and yes you can install any demo content however i am not sure about your query regarding rebuilding it to one page, for one page you will need to use a very different approach so it will depend on which demo you import, we have complete documentation regarding it here however => http://bit.ly/1mQtH67

We do not have a shortcode to put breadcrumbs in the content, we have our breadcrumbs preset inside the page title bar which can be enabled from Avada > Theme Options > Page Title Bar > Breadcrumbs

The theme does not include any additional Revolution slider addons. The current copy of the Revolutions slider cannot be activated separately, however, this is not really required as we offer a fully functioning plugin along with regular updates for it

Hello, I have a question about the use of the portfolio on the homepage.

On my homepage I’m using the portfolio element. When you click on “Banner”, only 1 item shows. See: http://sightdraft.nl/wordpress/

But when you go to Portfolio in the header menu and then click on Banner, it shows 6 items. See: http://sightdraft.nl/wordpress/portfolio_category/banner/

I would like to also show 6 items on the homepage under Banner.

What am I doing wrong?
