Hey @pabloaks, there are not many comments speaking this. I just talked about some items that in my opinion could be included and others that no one (no developer) has thought of yet. However, I guarantee that the theme Zox News is very good and easy to customize.

I have already tested several themes, but this is without a doubt the best and leanest and fits any news project. If you realize, most themes out there always have the same layout as blocks, slides, etc., using page builder (unnecessarily), and it does not leave you satisfied that your project will look like the crowd. Zox is different and it’s exciting.

As for the offset, I found that the Widget automatically skips the posts, not to let it repeat itself. That’s awesome!

If you or someone is interested in buying, will make a good deal without regret. MVP Themes works well and brings different designs to the market with care even in codes simple and clean.

However, for my opinion (in my comment) I’ll keep in touch with the developer, motivating him to add some useful things (like dozens I have not mentioned yet), making the theme a difference between so many. My purchase of the updated Zox is near.

Most developers annoy us with the following phrase: “the theme is as it is”, that is to say: “do not make requests”. This word separates any client / consumer from who creates the theme (developer). If we buy, we want it to be useful to us. So be patient with me, or just do not answer anything.

I tested your theme from a friend that you purchased, and I am interested in buying. Firstly, I want to congratulate you on Zox. You have built something highly good. It is simple, fast and adapts to many things. And the best: you do not use page builder builder. Uhuulll. You are amazing!

The texts are in exact sizes, the display looks beautiful on both the mobile and the desktop. It is true that 96% of all access in Brazil on websites comes from mobile – and we are watching it.

However, I wanted to explain some things to you:

I am a journalist, and here in Brazil we have the best news sites in the world here (much better than TNY Times, Today and others in relation to design). It is only you to prove in www.g1.com.br, www.massanews.com, gauchazh.clicrbs.com.br, uol.com.br, etc.

I have already tested many themes, and until today I have not found any topic that does what is in fact any journalist wants to build a site in the small town (local news).

They are simple items to talk about in Local News, Police, Obituaries, National or Community Sports, Roads, and Weather (yes, we want to write about the weather). But for this to be easily understood by the reader, we need good themes, which at least give us the option to add a color for each category (police “black color”, Entertainment “pink color”, Sport “Green color” etc. ...).

Now let me criticize your theme “ZOX” in front of what I said and other things:

1 – PAGE FOR TEXT ONLY  First, since you do not use the page builder, the pages are rendered useless for building channels. I’ve already said that I congratulate you for not using page builder, but we need to have an option for creations. Be it by shortcode, or by template page, etc.

If I want to create a sports page / channel, for example, there is no way to use my content (some texts + recent posts just below). In ZOX there are “page templates”, but I can not use the category I want. This is sad. I even thought about creating a template-sample-sport.php file inside and adding a code from the Dinamic Sidebar plugin:

So I can use whatever I want in the sidebars. Although I need to create several sidebars (about 20).

You could have thought of that. Either by shortcode, or by sidebars dynamics or in the page options, where we would choose the model (list or grid) and category.

2 – THERE ARE NOT MANY SIDEBARS OPTIONS FOR POSTS AND PAGES You could at least use a Sidebar plugin or add this to the theme, so we could have more options (we need to put different content in each posts, different ads, etc). You did not think about it. (If we sell advertising to children’s stores, the client does not want it displayed on crime news.)

3 – EACH CATEGORY COULD MAKE A DIFFERENT COLOR I can do in code and add in functions.php hooks, for example: if category-sports (

, color green). You got it. So, if you added this option to “page options”, you’d have solved the problem.

4 – EVERY POST WILL NEED TO GET A TAG above the title. (Here in Brazil is used a lot). We call it bonnet. Example:

ELECTIONS 2018 ← “title tag” (hat)

CITY MAYOR IS ELECTED WITH 45% OF THE VOTES ← “title”

Politics ← “category” / 1h ago ago ← “time”

Just add a field in each post and display that field in each widget and in the post.

5 – RECENT POSTS HIGHLIGHTS SHOULD NOT NEED TAGS . This could be solved in another way. We already use tag for “subjects”, and it is not professional to display these tags in the posts as Featured for everyone.

My suggestion is to add the highlights via Widget (in the Home sidebar) and choose the category.

I believe that you know, that digital journalism uses a lot of news flow, that is, the news that is coming is adding, so we need this highlight item where we choose several categories to be displayed. In special cases, such as “entertainment”, we use the modules you have already added.

  6 – STILL SPEAKING IN SPORTS , what does it cost to add four fields in post options so we talk about sport?

field 1 → TIME-A

field 2 → TIME-B

field 3 → RESULT TIME-A

field 4 → RESULT TIME-B

Display in Widgets and below the title in Posts would look like this:

7 – OFFSET 7 – OFFSET I know you’re going to say it does not repeat itself and such, but what does it cost to put this in the Recent Posts Widget?

I read some comments saying the theme can’t be customized. I’ve tried several top themes before, the previous one is Bimber. It has a lot of features but too heavy and slow for a viral website. As a result, my site is constantly down and encounters a lot of problems. But when I switched to Zox News, my site became lighter and faster. It’s highly customizable too, the codes of the theme is so simple and easy to understand. You can tell that the author really put site speed on top of his priority when he created this theme. I’ve done a lot of heavy modifications to Zox News in order to suit my needs and so far I’m a highly satisfied customer.
