Hi there it looks like a recent update has put some padding above any full-width page content now so I’d like to know how to fix this please.

i was wondering how to change the text of the portfolio navigation at the bottom of a portfolio item. It says next project or previous project, and we want to change that text to volgende/vorige project (dutch translation).
Is there a quick fix to do this in the code (we don’t want to use wpml plugin for example?

Is this current version of the theme compatible with the latest Woocommerce 3.3.5? I’ve seen that it isn’t, but need confirmation please. We need to update Wordpress but doubt it will work with the Salient 8.0 version.

Only Salient 8.5.5 is compatible with the current WooCommerce, all you need to do to ensure that it works correctly is to update properly i.e. the old version of Salient needs to be removed before uploading the new version so that old WooCommerce related files that have been removed from Salient don’t stay around after the update – which can occur if you only overwrite the old theme directory with the new.
So we need to switch the site to a standard version, delete all salient files, upload 8.5.5 files, then activate that? Won’t that mean we have to rebuild the colour scheme and design of the site, if all files have gone? Never gone to those lengths before. Also how do we get 8.5.5 and not the latest?
Hey 79design, you can also just update through the Envato Market plugin – I was describing the steps for an FTP based update, since some users just overwrite instead of removing before hand. Also, either way you won’t lose any of your theme options as they’re safely stored in your WordPress database and will be there after the update whether you delete the Salient theme beforehand or not. Also, 8.5.5 is the current release http://themenectar.com/changelogs/salient.html
So the current version of the theme IS compatible with the latest Woocommerce? So if we purchased the latest theme, we would be entitled to the Envato plugin and be able to update the theme over the wire, rather than having to go thru the gritty method described?
Hey 79design, yes the latest version is compatible with the latest WooCommerce – you can either use the Envato market plugin or the even easier plugin called “easy theme upgrades” as documented in http://themenectar.com/docs/salient/updating-salient/
Do you advise upgrading Wordpress FIRST? I haev bought the theme now and installed the Envato thing. So is it best to do Wordpress, Theme, Woocmmerce etc? I think the site was so lacking in current code, it caused server issues.
Hey 79design, you can update Salient first and then WordPress/WooCommerce if you’d like – this way there should be no incompatibility between the current versions of WP/Woo for the small bit of time until you update the theme
I’m having an issue with playing videos on mobile. Currently when I go to play a video on an iPhone 5S on Safari, it opens a lightbox and scrolls the page all the way to the bottom. If I scroll back up I can see the video and it plays fine if I hit play, but obviously this is pretty confusing/jarring.

Can you confirm whether or not it’s occurring for you when you use a source for the video lightbox from youtube/vimeo as expected? Also, there’s a newer lightbox script in the Salient options panel > general settings > functionality tab called “fancyBox3” that you should change try using

Thanks for the response. Ironically enough, switching to fancyBox3 makes the video work on mobile, but the video pop-up does not appear on desktop (although the audio plays, weird). It seems to work fine with a video hosted on vimeo, but I would prefer to avoid that as I do not want to have their branding present on the video. Is there another workaround or a better way to use a self-hosted video?

hello, I am trying to make our webpage same as your demo http://themenectar.com/demo/salient-minimal-portfolio/full-width-masonry/. I have changed all the thumbnails to 1000×500 , 500×500, 500×1000 as instructed. Regenerate thumbnails are also done. However as you can see http://mazstudio.com/works/ the grid is not equlaity. Can you perhaps advise? thanks

It seems you’re using custom thumbnails rather than the featured image upload which is needed for a grid masonry layout. You don’t need to upload any of the featured images precropped at those minimum dimensions, you just need to ensure the image is larger than the minimum dimensions for each relevant size. For example, and image uploaded at 1600px by 1000px is ready to be shown in any of the masonry sizes. Please use the featured image upload option to achieve the layout you’re after, or you could keep the custom thumbnails if you’re okay with turning the grid “item spacing” to “default” instead of the currently selected “10px”. This way the items would be flush and a more javascript calcs (that only are used when using featured images) wouldn’t be needed to create the correct spacing when using grid item spacing

Hey sam1994, verify that your “overall form style” in the Salient options panel > form styling tab is set to “inherit from theme skin” and that the “Enable Fancy Select/Checkbox/Radio Styling” is off as well – these options won’t work with some third party plugins
Can you please fix it? It is an official WooCommerce plugin.

When you click on the thumbnail to view the image larger a caption appears at the bottom. The caption disappears after a few seconds.

1. Do you know why when I am cycling though the large images some of the captions do not appear even though they have one in the Media Library?
2. When cycling though the large images, sometimes the caption from the previous image continues over to the next several images?

Hey envato999, the css snippet you’re using is only relevant for fancy boxes using the “Parallax hover” style. To target the style you’re using, use this snippet:

How easy is it to customize elements for the site? Say I want all “fancy box” instances to have a gradient background. As a developer, is it easy for me to create a child theme and have these styles work for a client moving forward even she doesn’t know any code?
Do you provide support for developers using this theme to customize in that way?

The fancy box already offers the option to set a gradient BG overlay in the “Color box hover effect” style, however in general you can indeed override theme element styles with css in your child theme if you desire.

Could you please make a subscription box theme? There are none for wordpress or woo out there that are good, they don’t offer versatility to build a box, mix and match, etc. We’re just stuck with the boilerplate woocommerce product page with quantity field. Not very dynamic for subscription box sites—thanks!
