I really apologize for my mistake. I had tested it out with YouTube video links but I didn’t ADD a pic because I didn’t think it was needed since it was a Link.

I just read in the manual that you MUST insert a pic even for Video Links and it worked.

Hi, do you already update the theme and its plugins to the latest version? I just re tested the customizer for security and it works correctly, please see: https://imgur.com/a/7CnTRpr Your problem can be caused by an old theme version or some plugin that updated or is not compatible with latest wordpress, but not from our product, so I’d suggest to control the version of all your installed theme and plugins.

Thank you for your quick response. I found the troublesome plugin to be Slider Revolution. The customizer works as long as that plugin is deactivated. So I took the following steps:

1. I updated the Vice parent theme to version 1.8.3 by downloading the theme zip again from Downloads page and following the instructions.

2. However I realized right away that the folder (06. BUNDLED PLUGINS) is missing. This folder was included in my original download last year.

3. The instructions on txt file: 03. VICE – HOW TO UPDATE FROM PREVIOUS THEME VERSIONS.txt – Clearly state that the plugins need to be unzipped and uploaded to the site. ( i pasted steps 4 and 5 from the instructions text)

—> 4. In your local theme folder, after unzipping, navigate to the subfolder tgm/plugins

—> 5.Unzip all the plugins and reupload them to wp-content/plugins, replacing the old ones

However, the plugins are NOT in the tgm/plugins directory either.

Where can I download the updated plugins? Shouldn’t they be bundled in the theme zip like they were before?

Is there a way that I could update the plugins directly from Wordpress? I’m trying to update Slider Revolution but not having any luck either.

Please advise.

The plugin is another media player, are other media players compatible with this theme, as in those the theme allow other music player?

The theme is built with his player already built-in so is not something you can easily “replace”. You can hide it but you loose all the integration, and considering the theme is built “around” its player, is quite a hard job what you try to do.

Also, you can click the pink button close to the panel labels to open in-line info

PS actually the activation is required to enable the Beatport importer, but we just had news yesterday that the project seems dismissed from Beatport and they are no longer providing API keys, so you may also avoid activating this extra functions.

Hi, it seems Mixcloud API is being dropped, they are not providing the info anymore, as you say. Playlist was never provided but featured image yes, while now I’m afraid this feature is not working anymore. Unfortunately many 3rd party services as Mixcloud, Soundcloud and Beatport are dropping API support, it seems this is a sign of the music market trend, and there is not much we can do.

Hundreds of hours were spent to provide those functions, but now it seems that we need all to go back to manual creation of the contents, I’m sorry but is out of our powers…

bad news…i take a look at mixcloud developper section on their website that seems to use javascript and not iframe embed…perhaps something to do with this..;because at this time we can’t write custom css with iframe… i would likenot to have the artwork image behind the player background…but css could be modifed….

2) Instead, the import function connected to the API is different. It is based on json API from Mixcloud, and the code is in

vice/admin/actions/importMixcloudNow.php

This code creates a new post under the podcasts post type, importing the featured image and creating categories and contents, but unfortunately the API is not working fine anymore, and it’s updated pretty often.

Therefore, as the Beatport importer now that Beatport locked the sample resources, I think this functionality is doomed.

You can check out the mentioned code to see if there is any update that can make it better, but as experimental functionality, together with the Beatport one, these are not really part of the theme itself, and barely used from the customers, so I can’t warranty that is gonna work perfectly.

As soon as possible I’m going to do some testing and tweaking, but now we are in summer and also big Themeforest and Wordpress changes are coming, we have to prepare the themes for WP 5 and Mixcloud importing is a minor/side feature, so have to prioritize the main product functionality.

When there is any news on this I’ll publish it on the theme’s changelog. Can’t promise any date for the moment, sorry (is a pretty heavy period and next week we are closing a bit for holiday).

thx for your reply…i m working about since a few hour…trying to find a solution…the custom embed code from their website is pretty good with the image and even playlist and the next button open a slider with all the podcast from a playlist…but it’s the thumbnail are too small for my needs and can’t be customise with css and the list isn’s showed while we are clicking on the next button of the player… at this time i have imported 22 podcast from the mixcloud profil of my client and have to add the featured img one by one same thing for description and playlist…a curious thing is that the cover image of the podcast is used as background of the player (chich i want to remove because it’s not “design” i think, but can’t be imported as featured image…i will try to make more search about this issue when finishing other project waiting…

Mmmm i don’t know if I’m understanding correctly, but I think you may want to customize the embedding in the single podcast page… In this case, you can customize single-podcast.php lines 50…

Basically, the div with attribute data-autoembed will be replaced with the player.

You can add an IF condition on the $pUrl variable, to use an alternative embed code if it is Mixcloud. If you check the Mixcloud embed codes, they have quite some variables.

The theme uses same embedding across all the site so it works fine everywhere, and nobody really used much Mixcloud among our customers, but you can certainly work out some custom result from your customer in this way.

I understood your message perfectly, my english is probably worst as I’m italian By the way the picture behind the player is always from Mixcloud, never from the featured image, so you can adjust the design of the player by creating an embedding code in MixCloud with the design you like, then using that structure for your custom embedding in the theme.

thx for all i will try to modify the native php file for my needs in child theme.. i just have another well known issue because my client has uploaded file with accentuate caracter and the podcast sounds file are not imported in wordpress even if there are ok on mixcloud…it could be important for french people who buy your excellent theme…always waiting for the newt one with visual composer !

I’ve been checking your website and the only issue seems to be with the video itself. The problem can be related with the audio or with something else. If you try with the wide I gave you it will tell us what is wrong with your video (more or less),

For information i updated the site with the plugins envato market…may be this plugins broke something?

Sometimes it works, sometimes not. There are (as you can read in the linked Google official article) thousands of angry developers because of this dictatorial monopolistic decision. Plus, the systems Google says should work (as autoplaying muted videos) doesn’t always work (it seems to work randomly). They also are changing how it works every few hours and updating documentation every few hours.

We are trying to find a solution in order to provide a stable fix, but until Chrome is not stable itself, is like trying to calm a sea wave with an iron.

There are companies who are loosing hundreds of thousands because of this, which is totally out of our control, and for the momenth i don’t have a final solution.

Try the suggested one and please stay tuned for the updates. i hope we will come out with some news shortly.

Update: it seems that muting the video and disabling sond autoplay in the customizer allows the video background to work. unfortunately no sound. No solution for that, until the people don’t click a website can’t reproduce any sound anymore. And we all have to thank the kind people putting horrible noisy autoplay advertisement in their websites.

Hello thx for reply, My video is soon muting befcause we don’t want the sound in background only an animated one with a dynamic design and the player “autoplay” function is desabled too…but no video background anyway… it was ok 1 min before i upgrade vice to your last update yesterday… the website should be online this week and the video background parralax style of your theme was one of the most important feature for choose your great theme…i’m desapointed…i have to find a solution today…

UPDATE: i have tried a mid solution…in the modular page i have deleted the background image wich seems to overide the video background since last update… the video background is now showed but not on chrome

Regarding the background image I’m going to check the z-index, this is something that was changed inn latest version, but once you received the background image, the video background in chrome is related only to the chrome update explained in the previous post. Once muted the video and disabled audio autoplay, delete browser cache and reload few times because it seems that Chrome’s stores some flagging about which site has to be muted. I found out it will start working only after a few reloads.

yes i have worked with your page-modular.php to try understanding… at this time when you clear the cache with chrome with audio disabled there’s no video background but if you open another page with main menu and come back to home page the video background appears…after that if you close chrome and re open it same thing no video except if you open any page of the websie and come back to home… when looking chrome console the data-audio field appear without any value (whith audio activated on settings data-audio=”1” > disabled should be “0” ? perhaps something to see at this side… hope you ll find a final solution

Thx for your reactivity anyway !! i have many issue with chrome since several month with all theme i’m working with…when it’s not chrome it’s edge or safari… i have tried to force data-audio to 0 this morning in child theme but the result was the same when opening chrome first time as if we have to open another page before the data were compiled by the navigator even if the chrome consol was showing the good value.. what about your new theme including visual composer ? have a good day !

I’m rewriting all the backgroundsa part and changing the video API from OKvideo used in Vice to YTBG library used in Kentha which seems working stil fine. Doing a big work to make it right, will be back as soon as i have it done.

Good news! Video backgrounds now works again perfectly! I’ll do another test to see if I can also enable the album or radio autoplay before pushing the udpate on Themeforest. I’ll keep you up to date when available on this thread. Thanks for your kind collaboration.

I’d also like to point out that the autoplay policy will now be “suspended” for some sites and reintroduced in a month or so, for this you may see websites with autoplay and other without, but fur common mortals it will never work.
