Hello, could you kindly tell me the upgrade path to Version 4.5.0 from Version: 3.6.4 as I have many custom changes within and do not want to break anything. Note nothing at the template code level, so it should be easy in theory, but when I tried this myself, I lost formatting and many of the layout broke, menus and so on. So I’m trying to know the rules to prevent this issue as I want to update and not break everything doing so. Thank you.

You have missed lot of the updates of the Theme in between 3.6.4 to 4.5.0 right and there are lot of features included/excluded in the Theme in between those updates and the Design of the Theme is also improved and change as well you can check our all live Demo’s here: http://www.portotheme.com/wordpress/porto_landing/ So if you will update the Theme from 3.6.4 to 4.5.0 there will be certain changes in the Theme.

Now as you said you did some Customization in the Theme, So Please take the Complete backup of your Site/Theme current version and the Customization/Custom CSS as well and after an update if you want to make the same Customization in the Updated version you just have to paste the Customization code in the Updated Theme files.

How to Update the Theme

Please try to install/update your theme by yourself first if you fail then we will do it for you. Please follow the below steps:

1. Take the complete backup of your current site.(If you are updating theme)
2. Go to CPanelwp-content/themes and rename old theme Porto to anything.(If you are updating theme)
3. Upload the latest zip file of the theme there in wp-content/themes.
4. Extract the zip file of the theme there.
5. Go to WP Admin Panel >> Appearance and activate the theme there.

Your theme will be updated easily.

Note: Please take a complete backup of your site before update the theme and also deactivate/delete these three plugins (Porto Widgets, Porto Short code, Porto Content-Type) before an update because in our latest theme we have made a new Plugin named Porto Functionality is combination of these 3 plugins so before install Porto Functionality you must deactivate/delete those 3 plugins and in our new update also Ultimate addon for Visual composer Plugin is also excluded, the elements which are used in the site of Ultimate Addon we add those elements in Porto Functionality so no need to worry but you can use Ultimate Addon for visual composer as well it is up to you.

But First please make sure your server requirements must meet with the latest Porto WordPress theme minimum requirement if not then please make sure to set first server requirements as given in the Theme documentation: http://www.portotheme.com/wordpress/porto/documentation/

Finally, support has got the mega menu to work, a little css issue was causing me big trubble. Anyway my site is up and running again and it is time to check the page load speed as there is a new speed optimizing tool included with lattest version.

I have always used 4-5 days to test speed for every new version and v4.4.5 loaded in 1.20 to 1.40 sec and gave me 84/100 with gtmetrix and pingdom. Google pagespeed 87/100.

So far page load time seems to have increased with lattest version as i now have 1.48 to 1.65 sec, 83/100 and google 79/100.

But it is a little early to say as all cache has been deleted, CDN has been reset and deferred JS files updated. But in a few days we will see if the lattest version with the new page speed option has been better / faster than previous versions :)

Yes we have removed some small changing options from the Theme Options because it makes the Theme heavy and Cart Icon Changing Option is one of them so now you have to change the cart icon with the help of Custom CSS as per your requirements, Please copy and paste the below-given CSS code to Appearance >> Theme Options >> Skin >> Custom CSS and change the Content Value as per your requirements your issue will solve.

We have tested the Variable product at our end with 50 variations and the Quick View for that product works perfectly fine at our end, It must be any third party plugin confiliction issue at your end so please check your site after deactivating your site all the third party plugins hope you will not find an issue otherwise contact us through our support system we will check and solve it for you.

Migration fail: I set this site up on a subdomain on a separate physical server with the same settings. But even with the backup & migrate for WP, after migrating, the new location renders a white admin page. Is there any guaranteed working procedure for this?

I did already test this proces two times. Each time with the same error outcome. If you can guarantee me a flawless migration, I’d be happy to extend the support. This means a process without any loss of data or configuration.

Can you please show me your site running the lattest Porto version and where the mega menu columns does work? I have done 2 more test installs and imported several demos and none of these has a working mega menu. Seems like an ajax issue.

Well, then it is not a setting issue but a change at your end that require another setting. I have used the same settings for 2 years and never had any menu issues. In fact i have been able to move any submenu around (drag and drop) without changing the supmenu occupacy which always has been set to 1 for all submenus, and you can see the perfect menu here, https://www.arctic-fritid.no – still at v4.4.5

I have opened a thicket and look forward to get a menu in my staging site looking like the menu i have in my live site using v4.4.5.

It seems to me that working with mega menu is no longer as easy as before.

I’m trying to register Porto from a site without domain (just ip address: http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx) and i have this error: Fatal error: Uncaught Error: Call to undefined function curl_init() in C:\www\en\wp-content\themes\porto\inc\admin\admin.php:146

Do you think the problem is the ip address instead of classic domain like xxx.com?

What a disaster is this last update. A.Template does not want to update via Envato Market (Error message Map Porto already exists) B. After manual update, all menus remain open. C. WpBakery visual Composer does not want to update because package does not contain files. When do you solve these problems?

Can you please try once deactivating the Theme from Porto >> Setup Wizard >> Activate and then after removing the browser cache again activate the Theme with the same Purchase code and then try to Install/Activate/Update the plugins hope you will not find an issue if yes then contact us through our support system with your site Admin Login details so we will do it for you.

The issue mostly occurs when the server Installation Engine is old and I think your server Installation Engine is old that is why you are facing the same issue.

You are using an old version of the Theme which is 4.1.4 and the latest version of Plugins which are not compatible with each other so please update your Theme to the latest version 4.5.0 and also the Plugins as well hope you will not find an issue.

The below 2 php notices is now filling up my debug-log:

PHP Notice: Undefined variable: url in /wp-content/themes/porto/inc/admin/admin.php on line 234

PHP Notice: Undefined index: -infinite in /wp-content/themes/porto/inc/lib/infinite-scroll/infinite-scroll.php on line 58

Please check your code… Both these are obvious issues and you will see it immediately when looking at the code. As an example php notice #1 the URL is defined if using porto version below XXX but it is displayed for any porto version, which makes it an undefined variable. So just move the bracket or set the URL as false before the code.

Is there a fix for the mega menu issue? Installed latest theme update but like others are reporting our mega menu is ignoring the column settings.

Every time I update this theme I face problems and glitches. Now my menu drop downs are continually open and will not close upon click.

Hello, when i tried to update porto on 4.5 i also need to update de WP Bakerx but i become this error message: PCLZIP_ERR_BAD_FORMAT (-10) : Unable to find End of Central Dir Record signature, whats wrong?

Actually, we have deleted the premium plugins from the theme package that is why the size of the theme is less then before. Now the plugins will install from our internal server and we have already changed the path of the plugins installation in the theme files.

I no longer see the update available in my Wordpress Dashboard. I used to be able to update the theme directly from my Theme options. I’m not talking about the email that Themeforest send out obviously!
