So I am curious how I might create a video lightbox similar to the meta hover on zoom image gallery lightbox on this page: http://themenectar.com/demo/salient-promo/image-grid/ Is this possible within the theme, without using the portfolio option? I would want 3 images across at full width….
I am down to pay you guys if it takes that to get it..just curious if it is available and I am missing something???

The closest thing you could get to that without custom development/using a portfolio element would be to just use the video lightbox element inside of a row set to full width content/3 columns. There’s an example close to this in the Salient studio template library called “video lightboxes” http://themenectar.com/docs/salient/salient-studio/ Cheers

I have a fairly big pre-sale question if you can bear with me. I appreciate if you can help me on this decision.
Last year I purchased the WPLMS theme (here on themeforest). I wanted to build a platform to store my online courses and sell them and, well, it seemed like a great fit. It has been a year and I still haven’t used it. Something is keeping me from using it: the design. I have spent too long building my courses (Calculus courses for college students) to use such a ugly template. Let’s be honest: it’s pretty ugly.
That said, I want to use something beautiful like Salient. But, since it’s not aimed to people that want to sell online courses, it lacks a few functionalities, like payment solutions, restriction to content and so on.
So my question is: can I use salient and, through using a few plugins, implement the functionalities that I need to sell online courses? Has anyone done that with your plugin? How easy would that be?
Thank you for your time and I would honestly appreciate if you guys could help me on this decision.

you would indeed need to use a third party plugin to add that functionality. Do you already have any in mind that you’re wondering about the compatibility with Salient?
Hi. I originally created several pages using “default template” because at the time, the “portfolio template” did not offer some of the functionality I wanted. They do now. Am I able to convert default template pages to be portfolio pages? I would like the “prev/next” project CTA’s that portfolio pages get which I don’t currently have on the default page templates.

All portfolio projects should be able to go to the next/previous project regardless if there’s a parent page with the template or the page builder element – are you specifically referring to the “back to all” middle button link available on the older pagination styles? Could you kindly share your URL in regards so I can take a look?

Hey, sorry I don’t think I explained it well. At the bottom of this page, there is a previous and next project CTA with images. On the most recent project it’s a full width CTA for the next project: http://themenectar.com/demo/salient-slider-portfolio/portfolio/salient-concert-promo/ I am wondering how I can achieve this without my pages being a “portfolio” template. Here is a project: https://andrewklotz.ca/travel-yukon I put a “back to projects” CTA but it’s not the best experience… Hopefully that makes more sense.

I understand now – you would indeed need to copy those pages into projects (which could be done from the classic editor). There’s also a couple plugins out there such as https://wordpress.org/plugins/post-type-switcher/ which may be able to simply that

Ok thank you! That plug-in kind of worked. It made the layout brake: https://andrewklotz.ca/portfolio/addiction-next-step-2 Is it possible to fix the layouts so the width is the same etc? When I copy and paste the Classic Editor code the layout is also broken with a different looking navigation…

1. Make sure to enable the option “Full Width Portfolio Item Layout” in your project configuration metabox when editing the project
2. You can select that pagination style in the Salient options panel > portfolio tab at the “Single Project Page Navigation” field.

Hiya, Ive sent you quote a few questions already and appreicate all your help. I am really struggling to achieve something really really simple, it seems you have great options but not a somple option… please see below what I am looking for. I want an image that when hovered, had a slight colour opacity and text to appear. It seems out of allllll the options I have tried (single images, fancy boxes, portfolio, blog etc) that Flip Box seems to work the best except for the flip (whch I really dont want!) The flip boxes seems to upload the images in the correct size without skuing the image has gives up good options fo rhe text and opacity coverage. Can I either: 1. Still use this flip box (see here http://neat.cloudaccess.host/#clients) but remove the flipping and just had a simle hover option? 2. Or another wya to do this BUT I want the images to have a radius and fit nicely on the page like the flip box? (but to give me a setting so all boxes have the same minumum height). If you sctool further down youll see the fancy box, the shape of my image has just gone weird! The next row contains portfolio images, but again the images look werrd (not like the flip box) but no option for radius corners and alighment of images have gone weird! PLEASE HELP

you can remove the “flip” effect from the flip box by using the following CSS
.nectar-flip-box .flip-box-front, .nectar-flip-box .flip-box-back {
transition: none!important;

Thank you that worked! Is it at all possible when removing the flip to still have the hover to be a bit like the portfolio hover (its not so instant, the text/backgroud color fades in very subtly)?

Please ensure your have the option selected in your row settings to “Mute” the video BG – as of the new Chrome release, that’s now required to autoplay videos.

You can select your font subsets in the Salient options panel > typography tab for all of the available sections. Google
offers tons of fonts with ext latin characters so there’s no single best one https://fonts.google.com/?subset=latin-ext

Got an issue. Im using fullscreen page headers, and in the Page Header settings in theme options I’m picking the “default” arrow style. This should mean that on my pages, I have the arrow in the circle style down arrow not the scroll animation – however, on all my pages It’s still showing the scroll animation….halp? One more question – whats the trick with the masonry gallery type? Using square szed, all my images are minimum requirement for size…choose full width with a 5px gap and still images have huge gap between them and grid looks awful!! Porfolio grid works fix using same images as featured..

1. That style is also introduced when using the “slightly_rounded” or “slightly_rounded_shadow” button style in the Salient options panel > general settings tab
2. Choose any of the other Gallery Styles for your image gallery – the original old school one “meta below thumb w/ links on hover” uses a lot more padding

Hi, when I start Firefox I get this google Top Sites column… it shows the sites you used the most before… it shows the name and a small logo picture… how can I implement this in salient?
I’m using a favicon but no header logo… maybe firefox is using this one? is there a work arounf to upload a logo in the salient option panel, but actually not to show it on the site itself? (but it’s just a guess, I don’t know for sure if firefox will use this as the ressource for the icon)

if you can’t update to the latest version and the video loading is your main issue, it can be fixed by editing the nectar_slider_display function within the functions.php file. Within that, edit this line:

I simply want a single image to be linkable.. when hovered I would like a slight white opacity. I dont want to use a portfolio. Is there a simple setting such as this? youll see here:

If you want to use the image element inside of the page builder and define the link within it, simply use this css
a:hover > .img-with-animation { transition: all 0.3s ease; }
a > .img-with-animation { opacity: 0.6; }
That route would be easier than trying to set the image as a background on an empty column since that won’t have height by itself.

1. the code goes into the custom css box located in the Salient options panel > general settings > css/script related tab – make sure when copying and pasting that no extra tags get pasted in
2. It’s targeting the single image element within the page builder, so just use those and add your link into the single image element settings with the “Image link” field
