With Gutenberg being released soon, how will this affect the Salient theme and any theme updates going forward? What’s the best steps going forward?

Salient uses the WPBakery page builder and that plugin is currently working on finishing up compatibility with Gutenberg. Salient will also still
receive updates.

How am I able to add padding/border/margin to a row? Usually most themes have a tab in the row to change this stuff

The parent rows in the Salient WPBakery page builder offer top/bottom padding in the main settings modal as well as translate X/Y options – if you nest another row inside of the parent row, that inner row will have the default design options tab you’re referring to

Hey JohnsonDesignCo, WPBakery enables that for its own elements by default (the custom heading element is a core plugin element). Salient existed for a couple years before WPBakery was added and already had its own padding settings for rows so when the page builder was implemented that tab was disabled to prevent breaking legacy user setups. I’ve noted to take another look into enabling it

I’m hoping you could help me out or at least point me in the right direction. For some reason Google Maps isn’t working on the following page even when I have an API key inputted within the Salient General Settings tabs.
If you could please visit (http://neileverosborne.com/workshops/falkland-islands/) and offer an insight as to why the Google Map isn’t showing up at the bottom of the page I would greatly appreciate it.

When checking the browser console the error being reported is: “InvalidKeyMapError” https://developers.google.com/maps/documentation/javascript/error-messages#invalid-map-key-error Can you ensure the key you’ve entered is correct and has no extra spaces in the beginning or end?

Thanks for taking the time to respond. After removing an extra space at the beginning the map appears to be working now. Very odd seeing yesterday even without an extra space it wasn’t working but today it is. Go figure.
Follow-up question: is there a way in Salient to alter the look of the map i.e. colour/overlay or does that have to be done through Google?

I just added a custom icon for the map marker, updated the page and refreshed my browser and now the map again isn’t working.

1. All of the customization options Salient offers for the map are visible in the map element itself – there’s an option for a color overlay when you select the checkbox for “Greyscale Color”
2. The error in the console is now pointing to here: https://developers.google.com/maps/documentation/javascript/error-messages?utm_source=maps_js&utm_medium=degraded&utm_campaign=billing#api-key-and-billing-errors – have you enabled billing for your Google account? Google made changes last month that now require all Google map API usage to also have an active billing account. I have read many comments regarding the upcoming update to 9.0 and I am really interested in one feature in particular. It’s the front-end editor, which for me would be a hudge help. Heaving read all the comments I wasn’t able to determine if the update to 9.0 will include it or it will be available with further updates. Please clarify.

I have made a one-page site with a regular woocommerce store on it’s own pages. I have problems with anchoring when in other pages than the main page due to anchoring.
Do you have a solution to define a separate menu for all other pages than the main page (or vice versa)?

When using anchor links, just ensure you have the entire URL in the link i.e.
http://domain.com/#anchor rather than just #anchorCheers
I have tried this, and it causes it’s own problems:
1) The page reloads, and the anchor is initiated before the page is fully loaded. This cause the anchor point to be higher than normal. 2) It causes problems with off canvas/mobile menu (Slide Out).

It seems that the absolute links are currently not being used and you have a fullscreen off canvas menu style selected rather than the slide out style – in regards to your initial question of creating a separate menu for a specific page, that would require the use of a plugin as of now if you didn’t want to modify with some conditionals in a child theme. https://wordpress.org/plugins/conditional-menus/ Cheers
I have different pages of products on facebook so i want to add those to social links area. you have built in link for only one facebook account.(Salient->Social Media ->Facebook Url)
i have seen many themes that offer option on the end where we can add our own image of social media and custom link for that image. in this way we can add all of out custom links on website.
Please offer this feature in your next release. Or we can do this in current release in other way then do let me know.

Hi, how do I set up the side bar in the woocommerce cart? I selected left side bar in Salient’s back end but don’t see how to make it look like it does on the demo site with the slider and side bar. Thanks:-)

After selecting a sidebar layout in the Salient options panel > WooCommerce tab, head over to the Appearance > Widgets tab to add the WooCommerce widgets. The price slider is called “Filter products by price”

Hello, I have this issue with the tabbed sections making the columns arrangement unusual after clicking on different tabs.

I changed it to separate rows and now it works out fine. Weird!

When using a full height row it works well on desktop. However, when I check on mobile it does not take the menu into account. Therefore the full height row is too high and runs of the screen. Is there a way to correct this?

I have used a plugin to allow a subtitle on each product: https://vapesandtobacco.com/product/nasty-juice-aap-grape-grape-punch/ . Is it possible to have the subtitle pull through on the category shop page under the title: https://vapesandtobacco.com/product-category/e-liquids-vape-juice/ .Then it’d be: Product name / stubtitle / price on top of each other (the same as it appears on the actual product page)

This was his comment, “We need to know which function or the location is that outputs the title of the product, the function – product_thumbnail_with_cart – stops just before the title is outputted as we are using the classical skin. I can see in the material and other skins the outputting of the product title which we could then add too.”

That would indeed require a plugin as Salient only offers sorting options for what’s in WooCommerce by default. This plugin may do what you’re looking for:

You can install it, but the WPBakery page builder is not fully compatible with it yet. The plugin developers are working on an update now and it will be included in Salient as soon as it’s out.

Yeah i fixed it – it turned out that because im using gravity GEO plugin, the map api being served twice in a page and it didn’t like it.

However, if your goal is only to remove the class name “off-canvas-menu-container” then if you simply run a search for that string within the footer.php file you’ll be able to find it and then delete/alter it

I have what I would hope is a really simple question. All i would like to do is control the text colour of a shortcoded button. It seems to default to white across the board which is fine but i need to control one instance differently. If there is a way to do this for the off and roll-over state that would be great, failing that one colour would suffice.
