Question: Why can i not place a secondary header in the ‘Centered Menu Bottom Bar’?
I can only place a text with url in the Salient footer menu. But why can i not place a secondary header?

Firstly, I love the theme, I’ve been a long time user. I always experiment with new themes but your theme is always the benchmark and has yet to be surpassed. From the UX of the end user (admins and front-end users) to slick and beautifully designed layouts (I was using the theme long before they came out).
I have only one gripe, speed! I’m sure you hear and read this a lot.
Since 9.0 however I’m having specific issues with minifying JS. Now I’ve followed your guide on performance optimisations which is great, but it may be slightly out of date.
I was using WP Rocket, but switched to W3 Total Cache on your advice, as soon as I enabled the plugin however it broke the front-end.
I am using Cloudflare, but it’s always been in development mode when I’m trying to fix the issue. Also, I’m not minifying anything via Cloudflare when it’s active.
I’ve switched back to WP Rocket, everything can be minified bar JS.
Any ideas?

I’ve tested the latest update with W3 minification as well as a few others (autoptimzie, Fast Velocity Minify) – I haven’t been able to replicate what you’re describing. Is there anyway you could provide a testing URL with WProcket off and W3 Minification enabled so I can take a look?

I’ve removed all caching plugins and have CloudFlare enabled, only using Britoli Compression and Rocket Loader, all minifcation is off.

Hey Nicko_217, the code I provided in my last comment should fix the sizing of the header on mobile and not remove the parallax effect – I’m currently not seeing the snippet added in on your setup though, could you please temporaily disable your minfiication plugin and add it back in so I can take a look why it’s not working for you?

On mobile, the video backgrounds I’ve set for the header of each page are only showing on half of the screen. Any ideas?
FYI I’ve added in the following CSS so that the video doesn’t try to display on mobile (just the backup image). But I don’t want that image popping up before the video loads on devices past 490px

Thank you for your reply. Luckily I had an older version on a testing server, and so was able to revert my site to this. Apart from all the problems on the site, the actual salient panel in the wordpress dashboard has some serious problems. I would be surprised if it is only us that has these issues, and plugins will unlikely be affecting the wordpress dashboard. Reverting to an older version of Salient has fixed the problem. We will wait until the bugs are fixed in the latest version.
Hey rednosemonkey, if you could list specific examples of what was wrong in regards to the options panel it would be helpful. Currently we don’t have any confirmed issues with it, so the more information you can provide the better

Does the update today fix the problems with the salient radio buttons no showing in the salient admin panel? If this is fixed, maybe the lightbox problems are also fixed? I can contact you with a dev site to show all the problems caused by the 9.0 update.

I know I don’t have support anymore, but just have two questions related to new update of theme. 1) I can’t get rid of my video header from my homepage on mobile devices anymore. I don’t want it there but don’t see anywhere to remove it from mobile. It wasn’t there before update. I have a video preview image but on mobile, it’s only showing half of the image and the other half is the video.
2) On mobile, my text has blown up and I can’t figure out why. It’s not blown up on anything but mobile now. It wasn’t this way before. I can’t lower the font size at all.

1. That’s a confirmed bug that will be fixed in 9.0.1 coming out shortly – if you want to position is correctly, use the following in the custom css box in the Salient options panel > general settings tab > css/script related tab:

and if you want to remove it all together instead you can use:

Am I the only one having tons of issues with font sizes since the update? All my font sizes got bigger, yet the actual font size didn’t change. I had to go back and decrease all my font sizes by 2. On mobile, which I can’t change, all my font sizes have increased a ton. Is there anything in this update that’s definitely needed? I’m having so many issues that I’d rather re-load the last version I had. Not only font sizes but now my pages are loading super slow and when i ran a speed test, it said there are issues with all my images. I didn’t change anything so not sure why this is happening now. Really dislike this update. From the looks of it, a lot of users seem to be having issues. Maybe you should have worked out these kinks before having us update. Just saying.

You can change how your typography font sizes scale on each individual viewport by using the option “Custom Responsive Headings” in the Salient options panel > typography > responsive settings tab. You can also review the entire changelog of the update here: http://themenectar.com/changelogs/salient.html We beta tested 9.0 for quite some time with all users that opted in and while many issues reported here have been related to caching, we have been fixing all confirmed bugs and will be releasing 9.0.1 soon. Thing is that id like to have custom attributes, be able to filter by them and showcase them in the Product Page, because products have multiple characteristincs like Maker, Year, Power, etc (similar to car agency model). I have been following through the latest versions that when you put a portfolio or WooCommerce products category inside a panel o tab or in some cases, with the animation “Fade in from bottom”, the items shows wrong, one over each other and when you resize just 1px the windows of the browser, it shows well.
I researched this because in some clients web sites happened and I found what’s happened and the code that have some troubles.
In the first case, Portfolio with fade in from bottom inside a panel, the columns of the portfolio comes with inline CSS: Position: absolute; Top: 0px; left: 0px;
changing the selection of the column, first to fourth item on a row of portfolio items, just the top change of cardinality, adding 25px from the second to fourth item. The left property not changing, just keeping 0px, doing the wrong show of item, one over each other. I added a Custom CSS to force top 0px, position relative and the transform of the fade in from bottom effect to 0px. I added a solution to it’s parent, div class .portfolio-items because a wrong calculation of the height doing that the box and items not shows well. It had height 25px and I added a CSS to force their height auto. With this, the problem were solved. I researched this issue in the last new version 9 of salient. Same problem, same solution.

In the other case, with woocommerce products in a carousel divided by 5 tabs, with or without “fade in from bottom” activated, happened the same: Products shows in 1 column, one over each other with 25px of top difference between each other. The solution was this: A problem specifically with height, same problem that first case. .caroufredsel_wrapper{ width: 100% !important; height: auto !important; position: relative !important; }

Are you setting the fade in from bottom on the portfolio itself or on the parent column that’s containing it? Also, in the latest release if you change your product carousel script from “carousFredSel” to “Flickity” it should solve the issue when nested within a tabbed element

Hey argusnet, based on your markup the original theme skin stylesheet is not loading – try going into your theme settings > general settings and switching to ascend or material for a second, saving the changes and then switching back to the original (if desired). If that doesn’t fix the issue, please let me know
