i have another request for more features:
can you add the 2 column masonry option for archive pages (category + tags) ...
it’s only available on a page (not a post) and does not have numbered pagination when using a galley format …
once again should i use the features link or can you pass this request on to the features people …
Hi there,
nice idea, we have added to the new features list, thanks for the suggestion!
If you have any other idea please use the form we have created in the item page for the new features suggestion.
Best,
Simone
an option question:
my header layout displays a right aligned menu …
how can i center align it …
by the way i’m having trouble with the support registration
Hello there,
you can change the header layout configuration from the “Clayton > Options” menu.
We can help you with the registration, which username you have choosed? we can send you a new password.

yes the user has 2 header options …
i chose the wide one with the right aligned menu …
how can the right aligned menu be changed to center aligned ...
Hello there,
unfortunately this is not easy to change and probably will be a little unbalanced, can you share with us a link to your installation so we can get a better idea?
Best,
Simone
have a look here:
http://loop48.com/relics/Hello there,
probably centering the navigation will unbalance the entire layout, if you want a centered menu we suggest to use the centered layout, that will center also the logo. By the way, we will further investigate if we can add this as layout option in a future theme update.
Regards,
Simone
i don’t use a logo so the menu doesn’t default to text …
how can the center layout display text instead of a logo …
by the way i don’t see the logo on the demo menu …
i added a logo and switched to the centered layout …
it’s all seems clear to me now …
for the center menu the logo (or text) displays beneath the menu …
for the right aligned menu the logo (or text) displays to the left corner of the menu line …
am i right or is there anything more to it …
Hi there,
I’m sorry but I’m not sure to understand your question, what are you looking to achieve on your header?
Talk soon,
Simone
ideally i would like to have the logo or web title display to the left of the menu instead of below the menu …
so as an option for the centered menu format it’s really a matter of not displaying the logo where it currently resides …
Hi there,
thanks for the suggestion, we will further investigate in order to find a way to create something balanced enough to be included as header variant in a future theme update.
Regards,
Simone
let’s say one has many many many galleries (1,000 plus) ...
how is all that managed …
wouldn’t you need a gallery archive page ...
i don’t see one in the demo …
Hi there,
since the albums can also be posts (with “gallery” format) you can rely on the WordPress posts taxonomy to create archives. If you want to create a selection of your best albums you can use the “Collection” page template, that allows you to pick specific albums and choose the display order.
Let me know if you have any other questions!
Best,
Simone
what i was looking for was a category archive page …
so i looked again and found it at the journal two column page …
MORE QUESTIONS …
No 1
let’s say you have a gallery of 100 images …
can the number of thumbs displayed be limited to 20 …
or is it already limited …
see the nature an landscape page at:
https://preview.themeforest.net/item/clayton-an-elegant-theme-for-photographers/full_screen_preview/22991166?_ga=2.145570484.1210760611.1547304302-582701088.1547304302No 2
can the font (size + type) be changed …
No 3
can the image caption be displayed …
Hi there,
1. the collection page always display all the images included in an album, there is no need to add a “limit” or a “load more” since every single image is lazy loaded and the image loading start only if the image is visible in viewport. You have the same performance results with a page of 100 or 10 images.
2. Yes, the theme gives you full control over colors and typography with special panels in the WordPress Customizer.
3. Captions can be displayed in every lightbox or in the album “one column” mode (https://justevolve.it/demo/clayton/one-color/ but there aren’t caption associated to images right now).
Let me know if you have any other question.

Simone
i’ve purchased and installed …
and i beiieve i have encountered my first problem …
both post and search options are showing sidebar options …
i’m using WP 5.03 with the classic editor plus the latest Chrome browser…
by the way the options work on the single post screen but in theme options
Hello there,
can you please open a new ticket on our support platform at https://justevolve.it/support/ so that we can look better into the problem?

my goodness, i had a peek at the options section of the docs and it said this:
Posts
Under the Clayton → Options → Posts page you will be able to associate a different widget area for the main index page, every single post page or all the archive pages.
Search
Under the Clayton → Options → Search page you will be able to associate a specific sidebar for the search page.
therefore it looks like there is no bug …
am i right …
Hello there,
sidebars can be managed globally or individually. You are able to select a specific sidebar for every single post or page individually, the search page results, the index loop and the archive pages.
Let me know if you have a specific request.
Best,
Simone
so you are confirming that both post and search theme options (not single page) only deal with widget area sidebars and that this is NOT a bug …
Hi there,
you can create unlimited widget areas, assign a sidebar configuration for every post or override the behavior on a specific post, add a sidebar in the search page, in the posts archive and on every single page individually. Do you have a specific request or something is not working as expected?
Let me know,
Regards,
Simone
so there are no extensive global options …
the only comprehensive options are the single page ones …
but they use up a lot of time …
i’d like to see many more global options …
should i use the looking for more features link or will you pass this request on to the features people
Hi there,
yes please (https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSe-ifRyxHXTvrxNrU2xpAAYVYrntJRrzF00nzjRfsm1hJOSXQ/viewform), describe your idea and what you think will be useful to add to the theme.
Thank you!
Simone
Bought this theme and installed it yesterday. Looks and works great!! Quick question though, no matter what static page I select as the front page, there is a “leave a reply” button that appears. I can’t figure out how to delete it either. Can you help? Tried to sign up for support but never received the confirmation email after filling out the registration form on the site…
Hello there,
thanks for your kind words! It seems that you have the comments enabled, you have to check your page, you can take a look at this quick guide https://www.wpbeginner.com/plugins/how-to-turn-off-or-disable-comments-in-wordpress-pages/
By the way, which username you have used on our support platform?
Best,
Simone
This did not work. I just triple checked that. Also downloaded the “No Page Comments” plugin and followed instruction in the video on the page link you sent. Any other ideas? Anyone else have this issue? Thanks for your help.

Hi Evolve team,
question Pre-Sales, how does your theme interact with : - WPML (my website is in French/english) - Woocommerce for bookings (WooCommerce Blocks maybe?) - Can we disable the Instagram feature ? - Can we integrate MailPoet or Mailchimp blocks ?
Finally, is it possible for the “photo wall” to have a main image as on the homepage of the live preview and then scroll through a photo wall type content ?
Many thanks in advance for a rapid response
Best,
Olivier Borgognon / https://www.olivierborgognon.com
Hi Olivier,
thanks for your interest in Clayton. The theme work with WPML but we create a special integration for Polylang. Woocommerce is fully supported and you can use their block for the new editor as well.
The Instragram stripe has been created with an external plugin that must be installed only if you need it.
Yes the collection page template can have a splash image as the home page.
Let me know if you have any other question.
Best,
Simone
Hi simone,
Thanks for such a prompt answer and problem solving.
Damn, I have just taken 4 months to translate my content into English with WPML, sincerely can’t see myself starting over again with Polylang (at least now) before content cleanup.
Ok, perfect for WPML with Blocks & Woocommerce & Splash Image
Integrating a Mailpoet or Mailchimp newsletter registration form & landing anywhere on my pages, albums, wall, etc ? can that be done ?
Best,
Olivier
Hi Olivier,
since Mailpoet and Mailchimp are external services based on widgets or shortcodes you can use them without problem and if you find any issue with the theme we will fix it.
All the pages are created using the new WordPress block editor so you are free to change the content as you like.
Let me know if you have any other question.
Best,
Simone
Hello! I love this template as it’s very simple and clean but makes a big impact. I’m currently struggling on editing/ creating albums and collections. It seems that my photos aren’t showing up. I’ve tried reading the documentation for this but still seem to be stuck. Can you please help me with creating an album and collection to display them?
Also, is there a way to integrate Lightroom for automatic uploads to collections? If not, maybe a potential feature.
Hi there,
we have updated the documentation for how to create galleries in Clayton: https://justevolve.it/product/clayton/docs/galleries-and-albums/
You need to use WordPress galleries (either the gallery shortcode using the Classic Editor, or a Gutenberg Gallery block if you’re on WordPress 5.0).
Let us know if you need further assistance: we’re here to help!
Concerning your suggestion about integrating the Lightroom workflow, that’s a great idea! We’ve added to the feature list we’d like to add in a future update
Andrea
Thank you for the quick response. However, I still seem to be having trouble. I’ve tried creating new pages/ post with the album or gallery templates and when I view them in the preview the images won’t click to enter the lightbox. Also, when the albums into the collections page for the album to be displayed, it doesn’t show the uploaded images when being previewed. I’ve even tried editing one of the demo pages to help out, but that doesn’t work either. I have a WordPress gallery and it still doesn’t work, nor does the Gutenberg gallery block. Am I missing something?
Hello there,
can you please open a ticket on our support platform at https://justevolve.it/support/ ?
Regards,
Simone
Hello,
I have just purchased the theme and have a few small questions that I cannot seem to find answers: - Is there an option to get rid of the footer menu - What plugin do you use for the instagram feed in the footer Might have a few other questions later on, but so far, great looking theme! Thank you!
Hi there, and thanks for your kind words!
- Not to have a footer menu displayed, make sure not to assign any menu to the “Footer Menu” location (you can do so by looking under “Appearance > Menu > Display location”, and leave the Footer Menu checkbox unchecked for the menu that’s currently being displayed in the footer).
- The Instagram plugin we’re using is “WP Instagram Widget” (https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-instagram-widget/)
If you have any other question, just let me know!
Andrea
Thank you! I’ve actually run into a problem along the way… Galleries work fine when put into regular pages or posts, but when I try the Album template, they do not show up at all, like this page for example: http://www.silviusalomia.ro/travel-portfolio/ I’ve added text and image and they show, but the gallery above them does not show at all…
Hi there, would you mind opening up a ticket on our support platform over at https://justevolve.it/support, and send us access credentials to you installation via email ( info (at) justevolve.it ), so that we can take a look at the problem?
Thanks!
By the way, we have updated the documentation for how to create galleries in Clayton: https://justevolve.it/product/clayton/docs/galleries-and-albums/
You need to use WordPress galleries (either the gallery shortcode using the Classic Editor, or a Gutenberg Gallery block if you’re on WordPress 5.0).
Hello! I purchase the theme, installed it with the “Demo Package” but I can’t find the option to create a page with two columns of posts in the same way that it appears in https://justevolve.it/demo/clayton/journal-2/.
Hi there,
thanks for choosing Clayton!
In order to create a blog with two columns you have to create a page, assign the “Blog” page template, save, then reload the page. After that you will see a new section in the “Options” page metabox called “Blog”, here you can find the “Blog loop style” option select, choose the “Masonry 2 col” option.
If you have installed the demo content you can edit directly the “Blog” page.
Let me know if you have other questions.
Regards,
Simone
Okay, works fine… but I need to list the category pages in same layout, or to list only posts in a single category inside each related page. How can I do this?
Another question: in pages with Album template, how do I create these Albums? Like https://justevolve.it/demo/clayton/album-cover/
Hello there,
concerning your category question, unfortunately, this is not possible yet, but we have already this feature on our list and will be added soon.
Concerning your last question, you have to create a new page, assign the “Collection” page template, save as draft, refresh the page, then choose from the “Collection” section the “Album cover” layout.
Let me know if you have any other question.
Regards,
Simone
Just bought Clayton, and did a fresh install on flywheel….
the theme could really use a video tutorial. Your manual makes too many assumptions. - Also, importing all demo content added just 4 files to my media folder, meaning many of your great galleries are not there to try and reverse engineer - Photo Wall for instance…
Ok, so I think I got it figured out—def could use a quick 2 min video tutorial. But otherwise excellent.
We’re working on those videos
Stay tuned in upcoming updates!
Hello, First of all, friends with positive comments; Are you sure you’re commenting on what? The theme is full with a complete failure. Its design is a complete failure of its design. This theme is not working when all themes are integrated with visual composer. Pity … I’m ashamed of myself for buying … I’m sorry …
Hello there,
thanks for your feedback, we are sorry that you don’t like our theme.
Can you explain to us why do you think it is a design failure? This is a niche theme for photographers, is not a multipurpose theme with the need of a page builder, our goal is to create a theme that makes the life easier for a photographer, with the right tools and take advantage of the new WordPress editor, that in some cases can replace the need of a page builder.
Anyway, you can also use a page builder if you want and in the next theme update we will introduce a new full-width page template that will be useful if that circumstance.
Regards,
Simone
Hello, A really beautiful theme you have created here! I am considering buying it.
Will it be compatible with WPML?
At your Album shots from above (https://justevolve.it/demo/clayton/beautiful-shots-from-above/). If I am resizing the browser window, the images get distorted (stretched). I am using Mac OS & Safari. Will this bug be solved in an update?
Thanks!
Hi there,
thanks for your interest in Clayton!
Yes, the theme is compatible with any multilingual plugin like WPML.
Concerning the resizing issue, thanks for reporting, we are fixing it right now and the fix will be included in the upcoming update.
Let me know if you have any other question.
Simone
Very Nice Design, Congratulations! GLWS
Hi! Really amazing theme! I wanna pick it up for my future portfolio, but I got some concerns about some key features for me, could you please tell me:
1. Is it compatible with latest Wordpress 5.0.1? (and maybe higher updates)
2. Can be done such a feature like not only masonry gallery of single images but also (as a variant) a masonry gallery of portfolio items each of them opens up as a separate masonry gallery (maybe not only masonry) of single images? Like it done here for example (but without any months and dates grouping) – http://wearesodroee.tumblr.com/archive
3. Desktop version works fine but when I try open demo from my iPhone – there are some problems (see link with screenshots – https://ibb.co/ZXyxtvj) – can them got fixed? (iPhone 4s with iOS 7.1.2 – its a bit old, but i got no problems with other themes, and some of clients can have old phones and same problems too)
4. When you click on image in any gallery – it opens up in lightbox – and when you click it once again – it zooms in, but can it be change to not zoom in but slide to next image instead?
Hello there,
thanks for your interest in Clayton!
1. Yes, and it’s perfectly integrated with the new WordPress editor
2. We have created a collection page, https://justevolve.it/demo/clayton/nature-and-landscapes/ that display all the images of an album and list all the albums on the side. This is a great idea for a new feature, we will further investigate how to add this feature in the next update, thanks for the suggestion!
3. thanks for reporting, we will go through these issues in order to fix them in the next theme updates!
4. this is the behavior of the photoswipe plugin, but we can try to understand if we can alter the normal behavior and add an option for that.
Thanks again for your feedback
Simone
Thank you much for reply! I will wait for the update like Hachiko!) Also an idea – will be great to add an option for long pages – “Scroll to Top” floating button in the right bottom corner (for mobile and desktop versions as well)
Hi there,
nice idea, we will add to the new features list!
Regards
Simone
Hi there,
we have updated the theme with several fixes of issues you’ve reported on old iOS versions. Unfortunately we are not able to test the theme on iOS 7, because Apple allows to download only the 8.1 version on the new Xcode. Keep in mind that the new WordPress editor, Gutenberg, doesn’t fully support old browsers like Safari on iOS 7 or 8.
Thanks again for your feedback, we will include the “scroll top” button in the next theme update and we are currently investigating on the layout you suggest on point 2. Let us know if you have any other suggestion!
Best,
Simone
Hi there,
in the new update we have introduced two new features inspired by your requests: the scroll top button and a new layout for the collection like the one you’ve suggested.
Best,
Simone
Hi! That’s great! Thank you! I’m going to purchase this theme soonly anyway because it’s really awesome!
As for new layout for the collection – it’s not exactly what I meant (because its still single images, not covers for galleries) but still it’s great new feature and it must be kept as it is (as an option) because you know it is even better for some cases than what I ment!
Still see some new issues with demo – I’ll check them all and create a checklist shortly as well as list of ideas for future features to improve the theme, hope it will be helpful)
Also I can’t see scroll to top button on your new demo – maybe it’s not activated?
I really appreciate your attentive approach and quick response! Write you later!)
Hey there,
sorry for the misunderstanding, we have now a new feature to be added
Let me know what issues you have found so we can fix them.
We have enabled the scroll top button, is optional, you can control the visibility from the theme options page.
Thanks again for your valuable feedback!
Best,
Simone
Hi!) I created list of all main issues, please check them all, I supplied explanatory screenshots for most issues (save it all from links to your desktop as i don’t know how long do they hosts). Hope you can fix them and hope it will be helpful to improve the theme! If I see something else as well as some ideas for improvement – I’ll let you know later, thank you much!)
1. Just find it out that – any (!) album listed in main menu Albums (or elsewhere!) and any (!) in blog posts that has lightbox opening for images has troubles – when you click on small image – it opens up in lightbox not exact image you clicked but any other image randomly! In both desktop and mobile/tablet modes. (I used various browsers – all got the same issues). Only in Collections modes it seems to be ok – when you click on image – it opens proper image in lightbox. (see screenshot – https://ibb.co/n1hcxtX)
2. When you click on image in any gallery – it opens up in lightbox – and when you click it once again – it zooms in, but can it be change to an option – not zoom in but slide to next image instead? It’s really very very annoying issue:) (in both modes – desktop and mobile/tablet). Also it will be very helpful option to be able hide all other buttons except close button (like enter full screen button, zoom image button etc.) in the right top corner when image is opened in lightbox (so keep only close button top right and left and right arrows buttons in lightbox) – both for desktop and mobile/tablet modes. It will be more clean design for certain cases. (see screenshot – https://ibb.co/5XZ4Zh8)
3. Scroll to top button is not visible in mobile/tablet modes, in desktop mode its OK (also its better to do an option if possible to enable/disable this button separately for desktop and mobile/tablet versions) (see screenshot – https://ibb.co/99qzg2F)
4. Instagram module in the bottom – now it displays 8 images – so in mobile or tablet modes it looks no good (see screenshot – https://ibb.co/rMMr484). 9 images (3 in one row) – will be better for mobile/tablet modes (as it was previously) And it will be great to add an option to choose the amount of displayed images – 9 or 6 or 3 – so they can form accurate display blocks in tablet and mobile modes by 3 images in row. Or it can be even better option – ability to set amount of displayed images separately for desktop and mobile modes – for example 6-8 for desktop and 9 or 6 for mobile (etc.)
5. Instagram module in the bottom – now in mobile mode (iPhones and etc.) it looks OK (but amount of pictures should be 9 or 6 or 3 see p.4 above) – but in tablet version (iPad or smth same size) it displays non accurate block of images with gaps (see screenshot – https://ibb.co/Hq2HFT9)
6. Collections of albums with left side list of albums like (https://justevolve.it/demo/clayton/nature-and-landscapes/ and https://justevolve.it/demo/clayton/the-beauty-of-colors/) got some issues in mobile and tablet modes with menu of albums selection (in the bottom in mobile/tablet modes) – by default now it displays the name of current active album as clickable link and when you click on its name it turns to word – «undefined» instead of expanding the menu as expected. So you need to click the arrow to the right (the word «undefined» is not clickable) to expand the menu and then you can select other items in it. (see screenshot – https://ibb.co/f1pN3WM) It should be done like – click on current active album name should expand menu – or it can be done like in new demo albums collections (https://justevolve.it/demo/clayton/photo-wall-boxed/ and https://justevolve.it/demo/clayton/photo-wall/) – with clickable words “Albums list” and «close» (on close). Also it will be great as an option that this menu will automatically collapse when you click on any album name link – so you don’t need to click «close» button finally as an extra step. (see screenshot – https://ibb.co/tDZFXnS)
7. Also in relevance to the p.6 above for collections It’s really be helpful to add an option to disable and hide “View album” link under the Album name in the menus and under titles – both desktop and mobile modes, because when you click it – it opens the selected album so collection set navigation get lost (it can be tricky to come back especially in mobile mode) (see screenshot – https://ibb.co/dGpHmjc)
8. Also in relevance to the p.6-7 above in albums collections in mobile and tablet modes there are such an issues with bottom menus: in galleries with left side list – such as (https://justevolve.it/demo/clayton/nature-and-landscapes/ and https://justevolve.it/demo/clayton/the-beauty-of-colors/) – when you expand bottom menu and click on the album name it opens the selected album set but it’s displayed from the exact part of screen you were in previous album, so it’s a bit confusing. It’s better to open each new album set from the beginning (automatic scroll up to top to the first image on opening). (see screenshot – https://ibb.co/jrf2Bk4) As for the new type of albums like (https://justevolve.it/demo/clayton/photo-wall-boxed/ and https://justevolve.it/demo/clayton/photo-wall/) – it works good – but when you click on album name in menu it opens selected album pictures set not exact from beginning but it cuts the title in half or even more. It’s better be done to scroll exact to the top side of the album set name (with some little margin from top of the screen) – (see screenshot – https://ibb.co/n07jmvZ)
9. For all types of collections of albums – how will it be if we got a lot of albums in them? For example – 10-20-30 etc. – how will it be look like in menus? Will be some scrolling there or somehow to see all items in those menus? (In both desktop and mobile modes) (see screenshot – https://ibb.co/HptgWCn)
10. In the album type like https://justevolve.it/demo/clayton/manhattan/ – in desktop mode there is an issue with a bit confusing mouse and click behavior – when you open this gallery and move mouse to the right side of the screen (or to the left side if it’s already scrolled to the right) – the mouse pointer turns into arrow (Left or Right) – so you expect that by clicking on it it will slide the pictures row to the left or to the right, but instead – when you click it opens up the picture in lightbox. Not sure how to solve this better, but I think it’s better done only center image openable in lightbox on click (as the mouse pointer turns to magnifier when you hover on it) and when you click on left/right arrows on side images it only slides to the right or to the left without lightbox zooming. (see screenshot – https://ibb.co/5sCcTNF) For example in album type like https://justevolve.it/demo/clayton/the-architecture-catwalk/ – it works fine as expected because there is no lightbox opening at all.
11. Also in album type like https://justevolve.it/demo/clayton/the-architecture-catwalk/ there is an issue with logo – it just sits over images without margins like it’s done in the album type like https://justevolve.it/demo/clayton/manhattan/ Not sure maybe it’s not an issue, because it looks not bad that way, but it’s better be a selectable option to do it with margins as well like it done in Manhattan album (see screenshot – https://ibb.co/PTv1gVg)
12. In Blog mode there are some issues with buttons “Previous post” and “Next post» in mobile mode (for iPhones and same screen sizes). Basically it’s better rename «Previous post» to «Prev post» – as it will be the same length with «Next post» and will be displayed in one row. Also it better be done for somehow – get this buttons to be the the same sizes no matter the length of article names – (see screenshot – https://ibb.co/9Whh04R)
13. In Blog mode there is an issue with “Post Comment” button behavior – when you push it without any text in proper fields (text field, name etc.) it opens up a separate page with error message and with go back link. It looks bad, will be perfect to do it like it’s done in contact form instead – with ajax based checking and ajax error messages without opening any other page. (With help of plugin “ajaxify comments» or something like this more reliable). And finally it’s better be an option to disable commenting totally and hide this button and «Leave a reply» button as well (not sure – maybe its already done). (in both desktop and mobile/tablet modes) (see screenshot – https://ibb.co/93RktQF)
14. In Blog mode it will be great have an option to disable and hide the name category at all everywhere (and link for category too), because word «Uncategorized» looks no good and in most cases you don’t want have any categories at all. Or at least hide it only for uncategorized posts and left for those with categories. Or even better – create an option “hide for all” or “hide only for uncategorized» (in both desktop and mobile/tablet modes) (see screenshot – https://ibb.co/XYhBysF)
15. In Blog mode it will be great small fix – when mouse pointer hovers over any blog post cover image – it must turns into icon hand with finger (like it acts for hyperlinks) instead of magnifier icon as it’s done now. Because these are links not images. (see screenshot – https://ibb.co/hZjtmhs)
Hi there,
first of all, thank you for your detailed report and for your time, we really appreciate your feedback!
1. we have fixed this issue in the upcoming update 2. we have added the ability to control zoom behavior on mobile devices and if the full screen icon must be displayed. Will be included in the upcoming theme update 3. this is the intended behavior, on mobile there isn’t so much space for a scroll top button and on some OS, like iOS, you already have a scroll top functionality built-in in the system, so for now we prefer to keep this behavior, we still investigating on an alternative solution. 4. Instagram stream is generated using an external plugin, that have a parameter for how many images will be displayed, so you can control that. 5. we have fixed this visualization issue in the upcoming update 6. nice suggestion, we have standardized the albums navigation behavior for both the collections on mobile devices, will be included in the upcoming update 7. we have added 3 levels of customizability of the “View album” label: in the single album, in the collection and a global option. This way you have a lot of flexibility with the “View album” label. This will be available in the upcoming update. In the next update we will introduce also the ability to disable the “View album” label. 8. we have fixed this visualization issue in the upcoming update 9. on mobile devices the navigation panel will be max 300px height and will be enabled the scrolling inside the panel. On desktop you simply have a longer list. 10. you’re right, we have fixed this visualization issue in the upcoming update 11. this is an alternative album carousel mode, you can have a “full screen” carousel if you like and in that case the logo will be over the images, is something nice to have because can work fine in some specific configurations. 12. we have stripped down the label to “Previous” and “Next” and improved the mobile alignment in the upcoming theme update 13. this is a normal WordPress behavior, but thanks to your suggestion we have managed this problem in the upcoming theme update 14. this is a nice feature that will be added in the next theme update 15. you’re right, we have fixed this visualization issue in the upcoming update
Again, thank you so much for your feedback and let us know if you have any other new feature suggestion!
Best,
Simone
Hi! Thank you much for response! That’s really great! Can you please clarify some more points:
1. Can I disable Title text shadow effect at all and small stroke beneath in certain album if needed? (So keep only text) (see screenshot – https://ibb.co/kH4rYJt)
2. In Manhattan type of album https://justevolve.it/demo/clayton/manhattan/ (or in any another types with text below photos) – can I remove everything under the photo slider? (No title, no text, just keep only photos in slider or in masonry or whatever)
3. Can I disable display Title at all in certain album if needed – so to set your custom text with custom formatting instead? Can I put some text with or without Title before photos in certain album (with any type of style), not under photos but before? For example – Can I create a certain gallery with that kind of look? (Same proportions for masonry photo wall with small Title and little explanatory text under it (instead of word “view album”)? – (see screenshot – https://ibb.co/JyfM1xn)
4. Can I adjust margins from top (from logo to beginning of photos or Title)? (see screenshot – https://ibb.co/k3RzsZ8)
5. Can I setup any Favicon using theme engine? (Some option for easy favicon setup without using FTP?)
6. Can I customize color of menu stroke and quotes and small lines? (see screenshot – https://ibb.co/xDCcZrt)
7. Also see one small issue in Blog mode with «Next» button («Previous» button is OK) – Text still needs alignment to the right (in tablet and mobile modes looks no good) – (see screenshot – https://ibb.co/RzZHcgk)
8. Still got some issues with instagram module on tablets (see screenshot – https://ibb.co/93Lkx0n)
9. Need some small adjustment for Menu title «Albums list» in the bottom for collections in mobile and tablet modes – make an option to do it more visible, because now on real mobile device it can be hardly visible and get lost (maybe a bit bolder or uppercase like in top menu or someway) (see screenshot – https://ibb.co/y4nkjrK)
Once again – thank you much for your work you are great team!
Hi there,
1. not yet, you can do by yourself by using CSS if you want, but there isn’t an option to do it right now.
2. yes, there is an option to disable the page header, and if the content is empty you will see only the gallery, we have created an example here https://justevolve.it/demo/clayton/gallery-only/
3. page title can be disabled individually and you can also customize the before and after page title text using a dynamic element like category, post date or a custom text. Unfortunately photowall is only a collection layout currently but you can use the grid layout like https://justevolve.it/demo/clayton/mastering-monochrome/ that is very similar
4. we will improve this spacing in the next theme update, but there isn’t an option to control the spacing, you can do that by using CSS
5. the theme support the WordPress logo and favicon options, so you can upload your favicon from the WordPress customizer
6. yes, you can controls colors and typography from the WordPress Customizer
7. thanks for reporting, we will fix this in the next theme update.
8. we will try to fix this in the next theme update, we will probably need to upscale the images on tablet only.
9. thanks for reporting, we will try to improve this style in the next theme update.
Thanks again for your feedback,
Regards,
Simone
That’s great! Thank you much for your reply!) I purchased the theme, will set it up for my website and report you later if there any issues, as well as ideas for new features or improvements. I’m really glad that can be helpful!)
Hi there,
Thanks for purchasing Clayton! We are working on the new update based on your feedback and we expect to release on 27.
Happy holidays,
Simone
Hi! Thank you much! Will wait for update) I got some new ideas how to improve the theme)
As you know nowadays there a lot of mobile and tablets users so mobile and tablet version of website really matters no less than desktop! And it will be really very very great improvement for mobile and tablet modes by adding two useful options:
1. Add an selectable option for each(!) album type and albums collections – how it will be displayed on device screen (in mobile and tablet modes): single image stream (like it done now) or masonry with 2 or 3 columns selectable . Because now it displays only in single image stream – and in albums or collections with many photos it can be really boring to scroll all those photos. It will be much better in some cases to set certain gallery or albums collection display 2 or 3 (selectable) image columns masonry (or just simple columns rectangular grid without masonry script). And when you click each small image – it opens in lightbox full screen as usual. (See screenshot – https://ibb.co/FBMhy5g) Like it done here for example – http://danilapanfilov.com
P.S. Now in tablet mode (but not mobile!) some types of galleries can be displayed in 3 columns masonry – https://justevolve.it/demo/clayton/mastering-monochrome/ and https://justevolve.it/demo/clayton/turquoise-and-pink/ and new types of collections – https://justevolve.it/demo/clayton/photo-wall/ and https://justevolve.it/demo/clayton/photo-wall-boxed/ But any other – got no such a feature. It will be great add this feature for every(!) type of albums and collections selectable (no matter the type of gallery – for any type flexible!). And for mobile mode too, because mobile is very important too! And will be perfect to be able choose the display type for mobile and tablet and desktop modes separately flexible for any type of albums. For example – gallery like https://justevolve.it/demo/clayton/manhattan/ on desktop will looks like it does now, but in mobile and tablet modes you can choose what type of display you want – single image stream (like it done now) or masonry with 2 or 3 columns selectable (not only 3 columns for all types and thats all, but do it more flexible). And so for the any other type of album or collection. Hope you can understand what i mean:)
2. Add an global option for logo and menu display mode: now it displays menu icon only central floating and hides site logo when you scroll page down. It will be really great to add an selectable template for mobile devices (mobile and tablet modes) – to display logo and the menu icon in one row floating (logo on the left side and menu icon on the right), so you can see the logo and menu icon together even if you scroll down page, so you can easily tap the logo and go to home page, or tap the menu icon and expand menu. Like it looks like here for example – (see screenshot – https://ibb.co/L1SZLZv)
3. Also it will be a great feature (selectable option) for desktop mode as well (like for mobiles and tablets in p.2) to do site logo visible floating if you want and don’t hide it on scroll so you can always see the site logo. Maybe add an option to put this logo or small version of main logo to the left side from main menu when it scrolls down. Or make an optional template for main menu with logo on the left side and menu next to it like this – (see screenshot – https://ibb.co/wszB2zH) (or I don’t know how to do it better, hope you understand main idea).
Hope it will be helpful and you can do something in that ways if it’s possible! Have a great holidays too!:)
Hi there!
thanks as usual for your amazing feedback and great ideas!
The update 1.3 is ready and will be released tomorrow, we just slow down a bit during these holidays
1. really nice idea, we will absolutely investigate on how to add this kind of flexibility in the next updates
2 and 3. another user suggest this solution, we are already working on some mockups, we will improve the header layout in future updates
On our improvements list we have two more things: a new layout for collections and some options to customize the visibility of blog loop items components.
Thanks again and feel free to contact us if you have other suggestions!
Best,
Simone
Awesome! Thanks a lot! Guys, you’re the best!)
Just installed) Got some questions:
1. How can I setup instagram bottom module as it’s done on demo site? Can’t find it anywhere in demo installation) Should I use some plugin (which one exactly)?
2. Could you please explain the logic – which type of «Image size» selector in gallery and collection settings and in what cases exactly should I choose – «Full size» or «Large»? What does it affect? And what for «Medium» and «Thumbnail» variants? Because they appears to display previews with visible jpgs compression artefacts and disturb a bit image grid layout. Maybe it’s better to remove them completely from selection to prevent confusion (I mean «Medium» and «Thumbnail»)? (see screenshot – https://ibb.co/xLvwVdG)
3. Is there any protection (js script or any) for Email link displayed in the footer (in bottom social icons module)? (To protect email from harvesters (spam parsers) Is it safety to post it there?
4. Could you please add VK (https://vk.com) to socials (in the bottom) – their icon like this (or maybe you can find better) – https://www.flaticon.com/free-icon/vk-social-network-logo_25684. And it will be perfect small feature to add custom field option to set any social (or any website) that are not listed there yet (to be able add custom icon and custom link – not only add one item but as many as needed – custom site 1, custom site 2, custom site 3 – etc.) – (see screenshot – https://ibb.co/rtHZzHq)
5. Please add lightbox controls to collections too – as it’s done for albums. (To photowall and default layouts) (see screenshot – https://ibb.co/1z9JsR3)
6. If I need some custom css – is it better use child theme method or can I use some plugin for custom css for admin panel (maybe you can recommend the reliable one)?
7. Is there any other «must have» reliable plugins for wordpress (security or maintenance or some other else) that 100% compatible with the theme, and that you can 100% recommend? (If they really needed and useful)
Hi there,
1. we use the WP Instagram Widget plugin (https://github.com/scottsweb/wp-instagram-widget) but you can use any other Instagram plugin.
2. the image size selector will give you the freedom to control which image dimension must be displayed in a particular configuration. Image sizes are defined in the WordPress “Settings > Media” section, with three predefined sizes, thumbnail, medium and large. You can extend these sizes with a plugin like “Simple image sizes” (https://it.wordpress.org/plugins/simple-image-sizes/) that gives you the ability to create new image sizes.
For example, if you are in a collection page, with a photo wall layout, with an “high density” of images and a boxed layout (that correspond to a max width of 1356px) you can choose to load a smaller image size, like a medium for example.
The general rule is to choose an image size as close as possible to the real pixel dimension of the final container and don’t use the full size if you are uploading big images (wider than 2500px), keep in mind that every image is lazy loaded, so your page will always be optimized.
Another example, still with the photo wall collection layout, if you want to create a nice squared grid you can choose the thumbnail size, with an high density grid.
3. there isn’t a protection script but you can use the akismet plugin or any other email spam protection plugin
4. of course, we will include the VK social in the next theme update
5. yes absolutely
6. you can use the child theme style.css file or the CSS custom input in the WordPress customizer, we always suggest to make customizations in the child theme (that you can find in the main package you have downloaded from your “Download” section here on ThemeForest)
7. security and maintenance plugins are standalone and can work on every theme, we usually recommend iThemes security https://wordpress.org/plugins/better-wp-security/ and Maintenance https://wordpress.org/plugins/maintenance/ for the maintenance mode, but it’s just an example. Concerning the resources optimization we recommend Autoptimize https://it.wordpress.org/plugins/autoptimize/.
Best,
Simone
Got it!:) Thank you much for reply and have a great holidays!)
Hello there,
happy new year!
We hope you like the new update, we are working on the next update that will feature a new header layout for desktop and mobile, based on your feedback.
Let me know if you have any other questions or suggestions, and if you like the theme we will really appreciate if you leave a review!
Best,
Simone
Hi! Happy New Year!:)
Thank you much, I’m really happy with the update, now it looks perfect on mobiles and tablets with this new layout option! Great! Will wait for new next updates
Found two small issues -
1. Couldn’t get work the scroll to top button. Activated in theme options, but invisible in every browser on desktop (latest Firefox and Chrome). Only in Firefox it appears on one second when you refresh the page, but then disappears. Not sure why. Actually it’s not critical)
2. And also «Disable page title effect» and «Disable after page title detail» options seems don’t work separately – when you disable any one of them – it disables another one too no matter it’s on or off. So you can’t enable only title detail and hide title effect for example. (actually i don’t need them both now, but maybe somewhere will be useful, so not critical as well).
As for ideas for new features – i got an idea for 2 new gallery (album) types and new journal page type:
1. A selectable option for existing carousel type of gallery – display it in infinite looped (circled) carousel mode when opened. I mean now it opens as a first image in the center and all other images to the right, and blank space to the left, until you slide it. It will be nice new feature to get it opened in infinite looped chain of images – first one in the center, next ones to the right, and latest one on the left side of first image (in the center). So you can slide it infinitely. I mean like it’s done here for example – http://peterkarasev.com/portrait-sasha-maksim
2. A new type of album (mainly for homepage usage, but not only) – a gallery that displays one single random image from an predefined set of images each time you load the page, with the option to set a link for this image on click (or be able leave still without link) like it’s done here – https://konstantin-sorokin.com (try refresh the page or open it several times) (get it displayed good on mobile devices and tablets as well). Or make it even more flexible – with selectable option – display a stand still random single image from the predefined image set only on page load or display a set of those images one by one in one place when clicked on it with smooth transition effect (or/and with option of automatic self timer) – like it’s done here http://www.anadiasphotography.com (see how it’s really nice looks on mobiles and tablets too)
3. Also keep in mind suggested before feature – a portfolio type of galleries (i mean like this – https://konstantin-sorokin.com/work) (But with selectable density for displayed items). (And option for word «Uncategorized» on/off for journal as well). Maybe you can do it even better (I mean portfolio type of galleries) – do it using journal posts – just add an option to display them on page without everything but keep the featured image, so it will look like gallery (remove category name, post date, short text preview and title, “read more” and so on – or better make selectable what to display) – so it will be a journal page with posts loop (do it selectable how many columns to display in masonry for desktop, mobiles and tablets as well – like it’s done for albums and collections in latest update) – and it will look like a gallery with clickable images-links, that will open up in single posts (which can be a gallery itself). I think it will be even a better and easier feature, than new collections type, because you don’t need create a bottom menu navigation for mobiles this way and for desktops as well (because posts already have a next/previous navigation themselves), just need add some “back to ALL posts” button. Or make it both – a new type for collections page and new type for posts (journal) page. Didn’t draw screenshots, hope you got it what i mean)
That’s all new ideas for today, hope it will be helpful somehow, I will write you when got any new)
I left the review as well!:)
Hi there,
first of all thank you so much for your review, is really important for us!
Concerning the two issues reported we will work to fix them in the next theme update that is scheduled for the first days of the next week.
Concerning your suggestions:
1. Nice, we will explore the possibility to add the “infinite loop” option for the carousel.
2. we can create a page template that display, as featured image (like the home page for example) a random image picked from one or more album added with an option like the one used in the collection page template. Do you think that this will work?
3. We already have a plan for a future update for the customizability of elements in the blog loop, like categories and other elements.
We would like to create a variant of the collection page that displays only a cover image from each album, instead of all images because this way you have much more flexibility because you can add albums created from posts or pages. The layout will be a masonry with the same columns options of the other masonry instances, without the navigation on mobile devices, plus the ability to choose which information must be displayed in the album cover, like the album title, number of pictures, and so on. This way you will end to get a portfolio like a page, what do you think about this approach?
Talk soon,
Simone
That’s perfect!:)
As for p.2 for random image using Featured image method that you mentioned I think it will be nice! But need some little option for this image to be able displayed on desktop and mobiles and tablets as well – in full size mode (I mean fitted screen by horizontal side, not vertical as it’s done now) – (with a nice paddings from left and right on mobiles devices) (I mean with vertical scroll, like it done for any image in single gallery row mode now, not downscaled to active view area by vertical). (Hope you understand)
And all featured images globaly in the theme needs that option too not only for that random template. Because now they all displayed without scroll – got resized to fit the screen depending on the active screen area by its vertical long side – and if this image is in portrait (not landscape) orientation – it becomes look very small especially on mobile phone screen. (Because menu and site logo takes screen space too and there is not so much space left by vertical for this image that fits the rest space). Also need an option to disable this small detail after featured image like it done for page titles. (Well actually I do really like this detail design feature but in certain pages it needs to be disabled).
For now I solved this task with random single image using two plugins – “Hot Random Image” (by HotThemes) – that creates a random image widget and “Widget Shortcode” (by Hassan Derakhshandeh) – that allows to insert that widget (or any other widget) into any page using shortcode. A bit tricky method because of using extra plugins and need to upload the pack of selected images using FTP to a wordpress folder (because the plugin needs to manually specify the path to folder with images, not drag-n-drop method), but still it works fine) But method with Featured images that you suggested will be more convenient and native!)
As for your approach mentioned for new variant of collection page – that will be really perfect! Just will need add some kind of breadcrumbs or back-link/button somewhere in certain place (for mobiles and tablets as well) to be able to get back to this collection set page from any opened album (no matter it’s page or post) without using main menu. And also will need some kind of pagination or infinite lazy load if there will be a lot of albums in that collection set. And be able to add Page Title and some small explanatory text if needed for this collection set as it’s done now for all collections.
Hi there,
we already have an option to display the featured image in full size mode, is called “Featured image ratio”. If you choose the “Full screen” option, instead of the “Original ratio” your image will fit the entire viewport, is that what you are looking for?
We will find a way to create an option to disable the detail after the image.
Concerning the new collection mode, the navigation is certainly something useful but since albums can be pages or posts there can be problems/conflict with the current posts navigation, this is typically a custom post type feature.
At this point we will probably need to understand if there is the need and how to introduce a custom post type for a special class of albums, because the “collection” has been designed to be a sort of index or a catalog of a series of albums created in different ways.
Thanks again for your feedback!
Best,
Simone
Hi!)
I mean try set any image with vertical (portrait orientation) (with about 1024px or 1080px vertical resolution) as a featured image (with Featured image ratio mode switched to «Original Ratio») and open this page on mobile phone or any notebook with small display (like 13’) – this image will appear too small on screen, because it will fit the active available free space on the screen (viewport). And because browser address bar and navigation interface, site main menu, site logo and this small after-image detail occupies pretty descent amount of the viewport, this featured image will be very small on the screen, especially on mobiles.
But when you set this same vertical image as a single image on this page (using common gutenberg insert image block) (not as featured image) with same «default page template» – this image will open in its near original size on screen (but you need to scroll vertical a bit to see it whole), and on mobile phones it will look better, because not so small compared to featured image.
If you set this same vertical image as featured image with “Featured image ratio mode” switched to «Full screen» – it will upscale to fit the entire viewport with image cropping – and will look bad, because of cropping and upscaling especially on large desktop displays.
But when you set image in horizontal (landscape) orientation as featured image in «Original Ratio» or «Full screen» – it looks pretty OK that way.
So now this featured image page option works fine only for horizontal (landscape) images.
Need to tweak a bit somehow the displaying mechanism for vertical (portrait) featured images as well, that’s what I mean.
Need some option to be selectable.
Maybe without that after-image detail it will fit the viewport better, or with “fitting the viewport” behavior switched off (replaced with common displaying with vertical scrolls), or tweak somehow paddings, don’t know, hope you understand what I mean)
As for new collection type navigation – as temporary solution it can be partly solved with manually adding a Button or Text-Link «Back to Portfolio» (or any custom text like this) manually linked to this portfolio page to all those pages inside their page bodies as text after image gallery using common gutenberg text-block, so you can go back to this collection page from any item. In this case you need use only albums pages items for this new collection set page.
Or use only posts types items, but in this case need tweak somehow it’s original Previous-Next navigation algorithm for posts types items to be able navigate inside one posts category only (not between all posts in all categories in your database, but between all posts inside any current category). So you can set any separate category only for those certain collection page posts (or any amount of categories for any amount of separate collections pages if you have other collection pages) and so you will get Previous-Next navigation only between those posts inside this collection.
But to be able adding post types items with pages together inside collection you need to disable totaly Previous-Next navigation for posts types items inside that collection set to prevent confusion (because albums pages do not have this navigation function by default).
Or well ideally will be create a separate type of Previous-Next navigation option for all those pages and posts included in this new collection type, so you will navigate only between those items included in that particular collection set no matter pages or posts.
I don’t know what will be the easiest way for you in terms of development (coding) so that’s just an ideas)
Hi there,
I think I’ve understand where is the problem with the portrait images, we have to rethink the media container on mobile devices in order to work better with different ratios and give the max space available to the image.
We are still investigating on the new collection mode, because we need to figure out a way to manage properly the navigation and if we really need to create a custom post type, but your Gutenberg button idea is already working.
Talk soon,
Simone
That’s great! Thank you much for update! Will wait for those features in new updates
great theme. can you please add the hyphens for entry titles.
Hi there,
thanks for your kind words!
Do you need hypens on entry titles in the blog page or in the single post?
Regards
hi, i mean the entry titles on the blog page.
Hi there,
sure, we will add the hypens in the next theme update!
Regards
Thanks!
And maybe a single column view template for the blog
can you help me with the quick fiix in Custom-CSS
.entry-title { -ms-hyphens: auto; -moz-hyphens: auto; -webkit-hyphens: auto; -khtml-hyphens: auto; hyphens: auto; }
didn’t work.
You might want to try the `.hentry .entry-title` selector, instead. That works for me on Chrome, with an `hyphens: auto` rule applied.
didn’t work. In the update 1.1 there is also no fix?
Hello there,
try with:.clayton-l-w .entry-title a {
word-wrap: break-word;
overflow-wrap: break-word;
-webkit-hyphens: auto;
-moz-hyphens: auto;
hyphens: auto;
}
This is something that we can’t add in the theme because a lot of people in the past ask us to remove the hypenation, we can investigate if we can add as a global option, disabled by default of course.
Let me know if you have other questions.
Regards,
Simone
Hi Simone,
didn’t work
“This is something that we can’t add in the theme “
what? yo can’t? for 59$ is a simple design think. CSS
That is an design and aesthetical thing. the titles looks ugly with the cut. i need a good design and a correct typo.

Hi there,
can you please share with us a link to your installation so we can understand better why this code doesn’t work?
We will be glad to fix it in your installation, then we will add this as global option.

Hi, Looks good! What kind of blog/journal variations is possible?
Hi there,
thanks for your interest in Clayton! Currently we have only one layout for the blog, are you looking for a specific blog layout?
Regards
Full width image and also sidebar alternative. But it doesn’t seem that’s any sidebar on any page?
Hi there,
are you referring to the blog loop page https://justevolve.it/demo/clayton/journal/ or the single post? We have enabled the sidebar on a single post https://justevolve.it/demo/clayton/2018/07/11/qui-asperiores-itaque-totam/ so you can see how the sidebar looks like.
If you are referring to the blog loop page instead, we can definitely add a variant to the next theme update.
Regards
Very nice with the new journal options! One more question, is it possible to have a custom link option when you click on a image in a album / collection?
Hey there,
nope, this is not possible.
An album can be created using a post with post-format “gallery” or using a page and a page template “Album”. Each album has different visualization layouts for the images. The image management is really easy, just drop a WordPress gallery (using the WordPress shortcode or the new editor “Gutenberg” gallery block) and the system automatically extract all the images from the first gallery in page/post to generate a beautiful visualization.
Let me know if you have any other question.
Regards
Simone
