Have you disabled the actual icon option in the Salient options > header navigation > layout related tab & the Salient options > footer tab? Please also ensure that the Instagram option is checked to display in the Salient options > header navigation > layout related tab

Hello, I have looked in both sections you mentioned and I am not seeing what you described.

What I see is Salient, Header Navigation, Layout Related – no reference to “disable the actual icon option”. In this section I have choices for Header Layout, Full Width Header, Remove Header Search, Disable AJAX from search and Header Secondary Nav.

The G+ has been removed from the footer.

I have a Salient—>Social Media section and for the Google+ it is empty.

So very puzzled why G+ is still showing up in the top header part. It is not showing in the footer.

Instagram is still not showing up in header but it is in footer.

Hello, Thank You for the screenshot – I did go to where you demonstrated – but mine does not look like yours and I definitely do no have the “Enable Social Icons” in that section. We are using SalientVersion: 7.0.8 would that have anything do with why I am not seeing the same thing you are?

None-the-less the icon is still in that Top Menu and while we have removed the G+ url – the icon still remains and if someone clicks it it now goes to our home page. So in that top menu where is it playing data from to display that icon?

And how do we get the Instagram Icon to show up in the top menu (does show in the footer)?

Hello, Our site was created for us by a developer and we no longer have access to the developer which also means we don’t have access to how they purchased this theme for us so we cannot login to whatever account they used for this purchase and download when there are new updates to the theme. So we are kind of stuck with this version.

Hello, Well a bit of good news – I tracked down that we did end up purchasing a Salient License (we did not have access to developer or how they purchased previously), so we made purchase of new license on May 19, 2016. I guess I thought once installed on WordPress that anytime a theme needs updating it lets you know via WordPress Plugin/Theme updates. I never saw Salient Theme requiring an update so that is why from that end it has not been updated.

I went back and check my past emails from Envato and tracked down an email that said Salient has an Update available and the email was dated March 14, 2018. I went ahead and clicked the link and logged into our account (we created to make Salient purchase) and went ahead and downloaded what I am hoping is the latest version of Salient.

I know this is off topic of what this email original started as – but now that I have 2 zipped files “Salient” and “Salient-child-theme” how do I get these into our current WordPress site?

Hello, I think I might have kind of answered my own question. After a little research – I downloaded and installed “Envato Market” plugin and from there it shows our Salient theme and that it needs an update. Hopefully after the update I will see from what we where talking about earlier, on how to fix the Google+ icon in the header issue and the Instagram issue.

Hey meruth101, glad to hear you were able to download the current version. You can use FTP or the plugin “Easy Theme Upgrades Plugin” – check out the Downloading/Reuplodading section here: http://themenectar.com/docs/salient/updating-salient/

Just remember to backup your old theme first if you made any modifications to the core files.

Hello, We got Salient updated to version 10.0.1. I have gone back to what you previously described Header Navigation—>Layout Related and while I see section has been updated I do not see “Enable Social Icons” on ours. I don’t know if this has anything to do with it but we are using a Child Theme of Salient. So now I am puzzled as to why I see some new changes (because of updating to Salient 10.0.1) but in ours we do not have that “Enable Social Icon”. The original issue of the Google+ is still showing up in the top nav bar and Instagram is not showing up in top nav bar. What now?

Hello, I can send you a screenshot of what our panel selection looks like – just let me know where to send to. BTW the Footer section while it does not have “Enable Social Icons” on/off button – it does have a listing of all the Social Icons to select that you want in your footer area (hence able to take off Google + and put on Instagram in footer). Hello, I went and created a staging site and when I went into Header Navigation—>Layout Related guess what I saw?! The “Enable Social Icons” and it was on. So I went and unticked Google+ and ticked Instagram and viewed the staging site page and saw the change had been made in the top nav bar.

So I went and pushed/synced the site to our live site and after several moments I went to view live site and the changes had been made! The Google+ is now gone and Instagram is now there.

BUT I go back to the live site and check in the settings hoping what I did on staging site pushed it over to live site and in Header Navigation—>Layout Related of the live site I still do not see the “Enable Social Icons” button or the various items to select. So how weird is that – that on the staging site it is there but on the live site it is not? So how do I get the “Enable Social Icons” to appear on our live site?

You’ll need to add this into the custom css box in the Salient options panel > general settings > css/script related tab:

body .full-width-section > .col.span_12.dark, 
body .full-width-content > .col.span_12.dark { color: #676767; }

The issue with overriding full width sections set to dark will be corrected in the next release.

Checking your page here: https://cashcow-cph.com/cases/ I’m seeing the active color set for all text is “676767” as in the snippet I provided above, if you want it to be something else try changing the value in the snippet to your desired color

I tried that Bit see for your self the color should be #202020 but is still #676767

Hey JanKorgaard, when inspecting the page via the browser console i’m seeing that #202020 is the active color: https://imgbb.com/ and when changing that in the snippet I’m also seeing that reflected on the front. For testing, please try and change the color to something that would stand out (#ff0000) just to verify that it’s working

1. You would need to modify the size within salient/nectar/helpers/media.php – the size is called “portfolio-thumb”. Make sure to regenerate your image sizes after doing so: https://wordpress.org/plugins/regenerate-thumbnails/

2. I’ve noted your +1 for that idea on the wishlsit. As of now, it would indeed require custom modding if you don’t want to use one of the slide out from right based styles.

No man your time is way too important for something so small. Hope to see it in a future update though.
I have a question regarding the footer copyright section though. I need the copyright section to be white background and the rest of the footer to have an image background with background overlay color. Unfortunately when I select a background image, the copyright section automatically becomes transparent with the image background as well as the overlay extending to the copyright. Is there a way to force the copyright to stay a solid white background with an image background and overlay for the rest of the footer?

Hey man. Thanks for the reply. The snippet above turns the copyright white background but the footer overlay still falls over the copyright. https://turner.wpmudev.host/contact-hap/ Is there a way to keep the footer overlay from being applied over the copyright? If not then its fine, can edit the image itself.
