In my home page https://toyvania.com I get “unreachable code after return statement” warnings in the console. I get in on Firefox. Also, two row images using full width content with parallax, take too long to load, I suppose because the errors because they are low kb images.

The console warning you’re referring to would not effect the loading time like you’re site is experiencing. Could you please temporarily disable the cloudflare rocket loader feature you have on to see if that resolves the long pause?

How can this stay open & link interaction effect be achieved with the hotspot ‘Show on Hover’ option. When I select show on hover the shadow box always disappears before I can click on the link.
Can you share the CSS to: 1. Be able to have shadow box hidden and interactive with hover option (not click). (most important)
2. add a button inside the shadow box. (less important)
3. make the (+) itself or the number (1) hotspot be an actual link itself. this will help with mobile as the layout only works in landscape view not vertical. Normal vertical view does a weird full screen box on click and the the link does not work unless you rotate your screen sideways.

Altering the duration which the hover style will stay open would require javascript modifications to the salient/js/init.js file, as CSS alone won’t be able to handle that. You can also add a button into the hotspot via HTML: https://pastebin.com/n5xTX4ni but that would only be clickable when using the “show on click” functionality

Just migrated to PHP 7.2 and it fucked up the theme lol.
Also, agree with hotdish, this theme is so slow and files included (CSS and JS) is not minified.
Very slow theme, very badly coded.
I don’t recommend if you want optimization, this theme is not for you.
PageSpeed Score: 84% and fully loaded in 3.8s (i have my own dedicated server, in the same area of the ping i made, and also, i have a StackPath CDN (probably the fastest CDN currently available) and also, i downloaded extension to defer script because you forgot to do it (LOLLLLLLL), and also, a extensions for Minify (because, you also forgot it).
Bullshit, one of the most slow theme i ever worked with.
So i ask for a refund since your theme is not PHP 7 compatible (this is a 2015 version WTF ?)

Salient is indeed compatible with PHP 7.2 as well as PHP 7.3 if you’re using a current version (v10+) and the current page builder (v5.7). Without seeing the errors you encountered, it would hard to assist. There’s also no known bugs with columns not working.
v10 of Salient was first released back in December of 2018 and tons of users have been using it for a while. Let’s start by getting your actual URL so I can see what’s going on. Please share it here or by email if you do not want to make it public.
Also, refunds are given to any user of Salient who is not satisfied, if you did not want one I’m not sure why you requested one through that channel, but i’ll reach out to Envato in regards as well.
Okay maybe i was to rude but we got a business and the site is down since we migrated to PHP 7. After that, we’ve done a update of Salient, which is now 10.0.3 and also the update of WP Bakery and also followed everything here: http://themenectar.com/docs/salient/wordpress-5-0-update-guide/
And now, the template which we used before no longer work (was a 3 columns). Also, we used a template from editor “Salient Templates” and the columns is broken.
So everything on my side is up to date, what the problem ? I’m not the only one which this is happens, i saw others comments.

As soon as I can see what you’re experiencing, I can start helping out.
This theme is not designed to be WCAG compliant at all, and it’s full of accessibility issues. The author has suggested the WP Accessibility plugin several times to different people, and while that helps with a few problems, it doesn’t solve many issues. We spent upwards of 10 hours making changes and additions to the theme’s codebase so that it would pass a thorough ADA compliance test.
For those wondering: many features/content types in this theme are not keyboard navigable, including very important parts like off-screen menus, the search button, etc. It does not degrade correctly if CSS is disabled (SVG dividers are gigantic, for instance). Many buttons or other interactive elements have no aria-label or other way for a screen reader to know what they are. Skiplinks are not included, the :focus outline is removed by default, there’s no way to mark images as decorative, and more. Again, an accessibility plugin can help with a few of these issues, but definitely not all of them.
It’s now a financial and legal liability to use a wordpress theme that does not make real efforts to be accessible. If a business is using this theme without realizing they need to make serious changes to it, they could be sued for non-compliance with the ADA.
We encourage the theme author to make this a priority for the near future. The theme was great for building sites quickly, but the risk is too serious – we won’t be renewing our license or suggesting this theme to any clients until we see this issue has been taken seriously.
Hey hotdish, ADA compliance is still on the to-do list and Salient will likely have a targeted update for it later this year, however the next major update is focusing solely on the new Envato theme guidelines.

there’s no way to make the slider load a random slide without some custom development, however you can change the “Caption Transition” to “None” to get the text/buttons to show immediately on load.

When I set “Single large featured” for a recent post section (like the banner section of the above page), the excerpts seems load all the content in paragraph format of the post. (whatever number I set in the excerpts length of the options panel)
I’ve tried add more wording to the test post, when it’s over 2000 words, it’s finally shows an ellipsis. Could you please help to guide me whatever may cause this issue?

Hello! Multiple websites which use Salient theme recently was injected with a lot of malware, there are my friends who run Salient and all got problem same time. Many post.php, injection in all functions.php too What to do? I just lost my main website and bluehost deactivated account. After cleaning all files – 1 hour later, same injection to Salient theme folder!

I’m sorry to hear that – there’s no such known security issues in Salient itself, however going off of the URL you shared (hellofromhony), there was a large scale attack relating to that starting 2 days ago targeting security exploits within the plugins “Yellow pencil” & “Yuzo related posts”

this would be a feature request. I really love salient and would like to stick with it for a new portefolio site i need to build. But there is one missing feature i would love to see implemented in the next release. It’s the ability to have a true Masonry layout for the portefolio item layout. Today we only have access to grid and metro layout. We can’t reproduce this kind of True Masonry layout :

The only feature that i would miss now in salient to make it perfect are :
- adding an option , to have the ability to cut the last row of portfolio items with a straight cut when using the masonry layout , to avoid the empty area created by the offset. I find this more elegant when using fullscreen.
