Hi, before I buy, I have a question: I want to use the theme for a very simple requirement. I have a list of people with their details (Firstname, LastName, photo, location, dateofBirth, ...etc). I want visitors to be able to search for people and display the results by any of the above details/fields.
Can this theme help me achieving this?
When you create an individual listing for a person how would you be creating that? For example will you have the Title as First and Last Name?
If you can give a real example then I can better respond.
Just a little disillusioned by a reply on one of my support tickets, so I thought I’d mention it here.
My version of Listing Pro is getting stronger every day and I’ll be taking off the ‘maintenance mode’ soon when I’ve done a few final brush-ups, which could never have been achieved without the aid of the support team.
However it has been intimated in a couple of replies that there are certain things that Listing Pro CANNOT do, and so I needed to find a way to do it – which I did – through third party plugins.
I use a couple of other premium themes besides Listing Pro, and these theme authors freely admit their failings in certain aspects, and either include plugins that should be downloaded, or mention ideal plugins in their documentation.
Why do Listing Pro not give third party plugins a mention in their documentation – like other theme authors – if that third party plugin adds customisation features that Listing Pro cannot add directly?

On the other hand, we are very happy to learn that you are almost getting ready to launch and really appreciate sharing your experience with the support team.
There will always be something for someone that not just listingpro but any other product on the market will not be able to do. But like you know we are the #1 end-to-end directory solution and always listening to our users to improve.
Yes most of the directory options out there are Directory Themes and they all depends on a lot of plugins for core features and not an end-to-end directory solution like ListingPro. Our goal and value proposition from day 1 was very clear, that to build our solution from scratch and include all the core directory features with in the theme so users don’t need to depend on any 3rd party plugins. We also have detailed article on this.
But we do mention in our documents what 3rd party plugins are included and what we recommend.

What it ACTUALLY says, is:

However my query was solved by something entirely different – one of those plugins that you DON’T recommend – which has the opportunity to take Listing Pro to a new level.
I can appreciate that Listing Pro requires no extra plugins for functionality, like ALL the other directory themes do, where you end up paying a small fortune to run the theme as is indicated on their demos – which is why I chose Listing Pro in the first place.
Cosmetically though there is a slight room for improvement – being able to list posts, categories and locations in a different order from ASC and DESC was my own problem, which could not be solved by normal means, or those included in the Visual Composer plugin.
This was solved by a third party plugin that you DON’T recommend, and rather than just recommending the likes of Loco Translate or WP All Import, I feel that a new Knowledge Base entry should be made to indicate those third party plugins that have provenly filled these cosmetic improvements.
It’s not a case of Listing Pro SUPPORTING these third party plugins, just that the plugins WORK with Listing Pro – any support for these plugins could no doubt be obtained from the individual plugin author – but it would be nice to see some sort of recommendation or mention in the knowledge base as to how certain cosmetic improvements could be achieved.

Hello, When a user submits a review and doesn’t include a picture it displays a grey default image placeholder. via.placeholder.com is hosting the images as well.
Two questions, First, is this something that will cause any issue with SSL or breaking HTTPS? since the images are hosted on another website?
And second,
This grey image shows on the front page of the website under activities. It’s an incredible eyesore. Is there a way to make it so there is a default substitute image that will automatically be placed there instead, or maybe have a setting to allow or disallow users to submit images?

Thanks for the response however I don’t need support at the moment. I am asking my question before I purchase the Listing Pro theme for a client of mine as I have demonstrated my website to him and he asked about these questions and would like answers before purchase.
Is there a setting in the theme that would allow the admin to upload a default image for all reviews that are posted without an image attached? I do not see one, so I said I would inquire.
As of now, As I can understand, by default reviews with no image attached show a grey blank placeholder. That is how the theme is by default correct?
These placeholders are hosted on another website correct? Placeholder.com
I do not need to know if I can have support fix this. I just need a “yes or no” answer on whether there is a setting that will allow an admin to add a default image of their own and stop hosting placeholder images from a third party.
So this is a theme features question about the theme, as it is currently sold.

If yes then there is no such option to set the same default image to auto post with every review. This will need modification as per your requirements.

I see that there are two pages of comments where customers are requesting a sticky header. This is the only thing keeping me from buying this theme for my client. In a few days, I’ll be forced to get them one of the others that’s not as nice as yours, but has a sticky mobile navbar built-in.
I really wish you could add the custom CSS here so anyone could just add it who purchased your theme.
It’s been a couple of years since the first request for a sticky navbar was made. Is this not something the developers want in their theme?
I’ve had themes where I had someone come in and make the navbar sticky, and half the time it worked well and half the time it didn’t or was broken by any update.

ListingPro was built from ground-up as an end-to-end Directory Solution. If you want to use it as a Classified, it’s up to you but we don’t recommend. Please kindly review the demo carefully and make sure it works for your use-case as we can’t guarantee it’s suitable for a classified use case. Before proceeding you must understand the difference between Directory vs Classified.

Pre sales questions: Is there a demo showing a page that has not been “claimed” yet so we may see what that might look like? Is a claimed page / user a 1 to 1 relationship? Meaning a single user (login) can only be allowed to claim/edit a single business listing? Or could a business owner(user) use a single login to claim more than one location? (i.e. Joe Peperoni owns two location in town – Peperoni’s East and Peperoni’s West. Could the owner Joe use his one login to claim both listings since he is the mower of both businesses? Finally, I assume once a request is made by a user to “claim” a business listing, that request must be manually reviewed and approved by a human admin, correct? (if this is the case, I would assume the webmaster of the site would receive an email indicating a claim request has been made and needs to be reviewed/approved)

Single use can claim multiple listings with no limit but it’s up to the admin to approve single or multiple. And yes to confirm like your example of Joe, he can claim both his locations.

Yes absolutely correct.
You can offer bother FREE or PAID claim. Once someone submits a claim request, you as admin need to approve it and the ownership will be transferred from the site-admin to business owner.
For paid claim you can create separate pricing plans for just paid claim or you can choose to have same pricing for both pay to claim an existing listing or add a new listing.

In the above process user only selects the pricing plan and doesn’t make the payment yet.
Watch how to approve a business owner claim request
Only once the admin approve he will be sent an email stating the claim has been approved to process the payment. The provided link in the email will take user to checkout.

Features and Form Fields not showing during admin adding or editing. However, they both show if using Submit Listing (non admin). The problem is that when you edit them, both the Features and Form fields will not be saved because they don’t show in the panel in the first place.

But for forum you should be able to any forum extension. Forum is not a core directory feature and we haven’t tested any form of integration with any forums. Also it might actually doesn’t requirement an integration. I am not 100% sure but I might be just able to function as it’s own thing on the side.

There are all sorts of notifications generated for site admin and business listing owner.

If you like to integrate with any other payment gateways, we provide a developer-friendly payment hooks plugin that will save time for a WordPress developer. This will require an experienced WordPress developer to properly integrate. Sorry currently we don’t have any specific payment gateways for India.
