Latest update broke my layout on mobile big time.
Hello, Sorry about that a fix is on the way. Could you send a screenshot of what you are seeing to support@themestation.net? Are you able to roll back to the previous version (1.8.4)?
I’ll send screen shots. I didn’t save a clean copy of 1.8.4 so I am not able to roll back unless there is a download of it somewhere.
Please use the support page https://themeforest.net/item/podcaster-multimedia-wordpress-theme/6804946/support to get in touch and I’ll get back to you.
The latest updates have broken the mobile site (the banner is correctly-sized and the mobile site had been working fine previously).
http://miketurneristerrible.com/podcaster_mobile.pngHello, Thanks for getting in touch and sorry about that. A fix is already in the works. If you have the option to do so, please revert to the previous version for now. (Version 1.8.4) Again, sorry for the inconvenience.
My reply to your comment disappears. I really need my site working. I have podcasts released today. How do I revert back to the old theme? Please.
Not sure why your comments are disappearing, I am not deleting any comments on my end. If you post too many comments at once, chances are that Envato might be filtering them out as spam. Not sure. I have so far only received two comments from you including this one and an identical support message. Please check my reply to your support message.
As to how to revert to your an older version of the theme, please make sure you have the older version (1.8.4). Please follow the steps found here for updating under “Before Updating” (http://themestation.co/documentation/podcaster/#updates) it explains how to secure your content as well as theme options in case something goes wrong. After that, you can delete the theme and reinstall the older version of the theme. Your theme settings shouldn’t get lost, but if they do, you can load your backup. I believe there are also plugins that can help with this. Do let me know if this helps and again, I apologize for the inconvenience.
My site broke with the latest update. I do believe you should have sent an email to purchased theme owners alerting them to a problem and emailing them a previous version. This is a big problem.
Hello, I’m really sorry about that. Unfortunately Envato does not give any way of contacting all customers at once. An update is in the works, with a fix for the issues of the update. Are you currently able to revert to the previous version of the theme? Again, I apologize for the inconvenience.
Last update breaks things… again. I’m at a point where I’m sincerely scared every time WP tells me there’s a new Podcaster update.
In the latest update, on each episode page, the header width is larger than the post width, for absolutely no reason. See screenshot: https://1drv.ms/u/s!AvWz4VJdSawurDNWr2xvX8XY0-zy?e=j39J8U
Hello there, sorry to hear you’ve run into issues with the new update.
This is a new WordPress requirement that is out of my hands unfortunately. As of the most recent theme requirements by WordPress and Envato, all pages without a sidebar set, are meant to be centered. As seen in your screenshot.
If you want to have a full width layout for your blog and episodes, you can make the changes within the theme options. Go to Podcaster > Theme Options > Blog > Main Layout and select the second option which is full width. Let me know if this helps.
How the hell is this a requirement? It doesn’t make any sense. Anyway, just realized that other things are broken. Media player is suddenly very small (approx. 50px large) on the front page. Just rolled back to the previous version and tbh, I think I’ll stick with that one and look for another template.
Yeah, but it is now a requirement to get themes through update reviews. WordPress is making a lot of changes due to Gutenberg and these end up being passed down to developers and users as well unfortunately.
Not sure why your players looks smaller, no changes were made to the player specifically. Let me know if you would like me to take another look.
Otherwise, sorry for the inconvenience, it’s a pity to see you make a switch.
HELP. What happened to my website?! Where is the fix? Nothing works anymore. Please get in touch.
Hello, I’m really sorry about that, the fix is already on it’s way. If you have the older version of the theme, I would ask you to revert to it for now. If not please open a support ticket (https://themeforest.net/item/podcaster-multimedia-wordpress-theme/6804946/support) and I will send you a copy of the previous version.
Thank you for the quick fix.
You’re welcome, thank you for your patience.
Like the user above, I updated to 1.8.5 and nothing on my website works with the theme. How do I revert back?
Hello, I sent a reply to your email.
I updated to 1.8 (Podcaster) and it has ruined my site. The ‘Front Page – New’ will not display. Yes I have it selected, yes I created a page and selected it as a template. Yes I have cleared the cache. Yes I have installed and reinstalled. It appears the ‘page’ blocks are empty and there is no template or code, only a blank page. Severely regret installing update. It seems rather convenient you issue a broken update AND charge for support. It appears to be intentional to drive your users to pay for support. Maybe I’m wrong, but either way I wasted a very important sunday of work trying to salvage my website from what should have been a 5 minute update.
Hello, I’m really apologize for the inconvenience this has caused you. There is already a fix, it should be available for installation in a couple of hours.
I appreciate the heads up. I installed the new update but for whatever reason the Hosts and Newsletter sections are not showing up for me. I have them activated and populated. The site is gratcast.com
Hello,
It looks like the older front page template is active for some reason. Please edit your front page (Pages > All Pages > “Edit” on selected page). On the right side of the edit window you’ll find the metabox Page Attributes. In the “Templates” dropdown menu please select Front Page (New). Then save. The Hosts and Newsletter sections should be back now. Let me know if that helps!
Hi, How do i create the podcast list under the hero image like on this page. http://demo.themestation.co/podcaster-soundcloud/
Hello, just a little question: have you already created and setup the Static Front page as described in the documentation? If not, please follow the steps found in the “Getting Started” section of the documentation: http://themestation.co/documentation/podcaster/#getting-started
If you’ve already tried that, please send me your URL or a screenshot of what your site currently looks like so I can get a better picture. You can open a support ticket here: https://themeforest.net/item/podcaster-multimedia-wordpress-theme/6804946/support
That worked. Thanks a million.
Happy that helped
Before I buy this, I was wondering does it come with demo data I can import?
Hello, Thanks for your interest in Podcaster. Yes, the theme files include XML files that can be imported if needed. If you have any other questions, just let me know.
either way, i want people to be able to play any episode from clicking the little play button (which should be in the little space where it says the mp3 url and subscribe options:
[audio src=”https://aphid.fireside.fm/d/1437767933/2221f1db-53c1-4d6f-a8c5-cc2e7ef25232/e993b1f9-4b9d-405c-99f9-06689f271354.mp3” /]
can anyone please help. my theme is Podcaster by Theme Forest
would really appreciate any help
thanks,
matt
Hey Matt, I sent you a reply to your support ticket yesterday, did you get it?
Questions before buying: 1. Can the theme use the video embed code from https://www.jwplayer.com/? 2. Can the theme use videos saved on my server? 3. Can I use this topic in the main domain (domain.com) and subdomain (sub.domain.com)?
Hello thanks for showing interesting in Podcaster, I’ll get right to your questions:
1. It has not been tested with JWPlayer specifically, but if you send me a code snippet used to embed with that platform, I can test it for you (support@themestation.net). Podcaster supports regular embedding from Youtube and Vimeo.
2. Yes, self-hosted mp4 videos uploaded through WordPress are supported.
3.The license covers one installation only, so you can run it on either domain.com or sub.domain.com. If you wish to run the them on two separate installations, you will also need two licenses.
I hope this answers your question. Let me know if anything is unclear.
I like this theme but it need some definite work unless I am missing something. I have worked with a bunch of Wordpress themes but this one seems very very limited. Something as simple as choosing your Episode listing between Grid and Lists should be easy, such as you have displayed on the Live Preview but I can’t even change which template I want to use to show it correctly. I have tried every template provided in the list but none of them are showing my video list. Seems like “Podcast Archive is the only one that works and lists the videos in “classic View’. I don’t want to list my videos in classic view. I can’t even change template options in the Theme Options. Also I can’t even change the text from “listen” to “watch” on the Episodes page. I need some help!
Hello,
Sorry to hear you have run into some difficulties while setting up the theme. I need to ask some questions before I can give assistance on how to proceed. Which demo are you trying to recreate? Have you followed the steps found in the “Getting Started” section of the documentation? (http://themestation.co/documentation/podcaster/#getting-started) If yes, which step made you struggle? Please send me a URL so I can take a closer look at how far you go with setting up.
Thanks.
Yes I followed the directions in the getting started section and installed all of the required plugins. I am trying to install the video theme. Everything else seems to work fine just the fact that I can’t recreate the Podcast Archive – List/Grid as you have in your live preview.
URL is wecreatemusic.tv and you can click on episodes in the menu.
Thanks for the link, I see the issue.
Please go to Pages > All Pages and open your Front Page to edit it. On the right under “Page Attributes” > Templates please select the “Podcast Archive Grid” or the “Podcast Archive List” template. The one currently set, “Podcast Archive”, is the classic version which has a slightly different layout that can be managed from the theme options. The newer templates can be set in this way.
I hope this helps, and again, sorry for the inconvenience. I’ll take this into consideration for future updates.
So why would I change the page attribute on my front page? The page attribute for the front page should be front page and not podcast archive…why would this be the template used for the homepage? So let’s say that I do change the page attribute, it will lead only to a page that says “Sorry, no posts matched your criteria.” I am sure that I would have tried all options regarding the page templates. I do see that you have to go back into the theme options under podcast and either change it from grid or list and then go back to the page and re-save it and maybe, maybe it’ll work but the only ones that I have gotten to work so far is grid and classic list. I’ll leave it on classic for the time being and hopefully I can figure it out. Also is there a way to change the button to not say listen?
Also I still can not place an image on the header as you did in this section – http://demo.themestation.co/podcaster-video/episodes-2/
I apologize, that was a mistake in my explanation. Please edit the “Episodes” page, not the “Front Page” page. The instructions remain the same, though.
To add an image, simply upload a featured image for your “Episodes” page. You should be able to do this on the right of the edit page.
Unfortunately that doesn’t work either. I have already tried that with the episodes page. I have tried all of the templates under page attributes. Also I do not want to add an image to the header as I have already done that. I want to set up my episodes page just like this – http://demo.themestation.co/podcaster-video/episodes-2/. I want an image where you have the Los Angeles image. All of the suggestions given have not worked but thanks.
What do I need to use to categorize my posts to show up on the podcast archive – list?
Ok, could you make a dummy account for me so I can take a closer look at your settings? Please use the email support@themestation.net and create an account with admin rights. Not sure why it’s not working on your end, but I’ll take a look and set up the page like the link you provided.
Please go to Theme Options > Podcast > Podcast Archive and select the category you filed your podcast episodes into from the drop down menu. After that they should appear on the podcast archive page.
Hello, On my podcast archive page, the audio player is only showing up on one post.
How can i get all of my podcast posts to display the audio player on the archive page?
The theme is great so far btw
Hello, could you send me the URL to your page or a screenshot of what you are seeing? You can also send it to support@themestation.net instead of posting it here. Please include your username in the subject. Thanks!
I have purchased this theme and am having a lot of trouble integrating it with souldcloud. I’ve installed all plugins, I have the latest version of the theme and wordpress. Not other plugins activated other than the ones required. When I create a new post and use the soundcloud URL, the player does not show on my post. If I use a podcast plugin like seriously simple podcasting, same result. Please help.
Hello, Sorry to hear your having trouble setting up the theme. I am not sure what could be causing the issue right now. Could you create a dummy account for me so I can take a closer look at your settings? Please use the email support@themestation.net to create the account.
Hi, I will do that. Please also help address why I cannot set up page templates. For example, if I select podcast archive grid. No options show.
Hello, I responded to your support email. Sorry for the delay and thanks for your patience.
The most recent update of Powerpress ruined the audio player – volume and play button overlap and no progress bar along with extra overlapping text. This is on both the front page feature player and individual posts. Uninstalled and reinstalled powerpress to no avail. I am also on most recent update of wordpress. Furthermore, the new version of wordpress does not seem to allow me to disable the player.
Hey there, sorry to hear about that. Could you send me a link (better) or screenshot of what you are currently seeing on your end? The update of PowerPress (to 7.4.3) did not cause any of what you are describing on my test site. What version of Podcaster are you using? You can send it to to support@themestation.net as well.
Hi I am getting a fatal error after i just installed the theme and plugins. I get Fatal error: Can’t use function return value in write context in /home/xxxxxxxxx/public_html/wp-content/themes/podcaster/index.php on line 296
Hello, Thanks for the feedback and I’m really sorry about that. A fix for this is being looked into right now, but it won’t be out for another day. I can send you a hotfix if you are comfortable with editing the code. Keep in mind that this bug is not appearing on my end and I’m till trying to figure out why some seem to get the error and why some don’t.
Could you also let me know what version of PHP you are running on your server?
currently running PHP Version 5.4.45 with cpanel 78.0 (build 30) and WordPress 5.0.3
Thanks for the information, I suspect it’s the PHP 5.4 that is at the root of this all. An update is already on it’s way.
Thank you. Please let me know when I can get the update. So I will just wait? what is the process for updating this theme?
Sure, no problem. You will receive a message as soon as the update is out. As for the update procedure, I recommend taking a look at this link in the documentation: http://themestation.co/documentation/podcaster/#updates .
any eta when the new update will be out?
The update should be out by Sunday.
any news on the update?
Hello, I apologize for the delay with the update. It’s currently delayed for reasons that are out out of my hands. I’m hoping for the end of this week, but don’t want to make promises until I’m sure. Again, I’m really sorry. You will be notified by email as soon as it is available, though.
any updates?
Hello, I’m sorry to say the update still has to get through the Envato review process. As I’m working by their schedule I can’t even make an estimation as to when it will be out. I’m hoping within the next couple of days, but it’s not for me to say. Thank you for your patience.
For some reason the Front Page (not header) is not showing previous episodes, I tried suggestions made in previous comments where to set it to featured rather than Newest but hasnt worked and still the 2 episodes I already have does not show. my site is ozfilmcreatives.com
Hello, Thanks for the link, could you send me a screenshot of your Theme Options > Front Page setting page. That way I can get a better picture of your current set up for the front page. Also, are you using Seriously Simple Podcasting plugin? If yes, could you send a screenshot of the settings page as well? Please send them to support@themestation.net Thanks in advance.
I am having trouble integrating Castos’ Simple Podcasting with this theme. I have assigned all podcast episodes to the “Conversations” series within the Podcast type however, I do not see an option to select that Series as the podcast feed that the theme “sees” in order to display on the home page, etc. What am I missing?
Hello, just a question: have you installed the latest update of Podcaster? This issue was fixed in the last update and installing the update should resolve your issue. Let me know if that helps.
Just that you know: The category / archive.php does not work (at least with powerpress)
I removed this code from postfooter.php to make it work: $pod_plugin_active = get_pod_plugin_active();
Hello, appreciate the feedback. Could you just let me know what error message you were getting exactly? Just so I have the complete picture on my end.
Never mind, your new theme just didn’t work with the child theme. I made a new child theme.
Ok, thanks for the heads up.
