After upgrading salient to the latest version I can no longer access my plug ins from the Wordpress dashboard. When I try I get “500 Internal Server Error”.
I contacted my host, www.pressable.com, who say the problem is “It would appear that your theme in its current state is not compatible with the version of PHP we run.”
They encouraged me to contact you so here I am!
Please help.
Hey jameat, what version of PHP are you running? Unless you’re running a very outdated version, that’s likely not the problem as Salient is compatible with the latest version of PHP. Could you check your PHP error log for the most recent fatal error to shed further light on the root issue?

From the first part of that error, “Cannot unset string offsets” – the offsets should not be a string in the first place. Do you have other plugins active at the moment? If so, could you let me know a list of them?

I’ve had one of my colleagues tell me some of the functionality of the site isn’t working properly.
The main items are: 1. the ‘Load More’ under the Expedition section. 2. the ‘Join Us’ now button 3. the partner popups at the bottom of the site.
Can you please confirm with me if the items above work for you? If not, are you able to shed some light onto why they wouldn’t be working.
Honestly, not sure if this is a Salient issue or a server-side issue or maybe even just a glitch on my colleagues mobile phone.

Is it possible to have a caption appear along the bottom overlay the image on an opacity box or below the image in the white space?
Or is it possible to use an icon in the the bottom left or right corner, so when a user hovers over it the caption slides up?

Hi there, there’s an option to show animations on mobile view (which I have selected) but it doesn’t doesn’t show certain animations such as text fading in slowly as you scroll down a page, will this be something that will work in the future? Are there any plugins where I can insert adobe XD onto your theme somehow?

What option are you referring to which you have selected? By default, Salient has always removed most animations that are triggered by scrolling on mobile. It is indeed an item on the wishlist to allow for a theme option to control this though.

Salient provides img srcsets wherever possible for the blog, portfolio and single image elements.

1. In the Salient options panel > blog > post meta tab you can disable any individual meta items you do not wish to use on the archive/single blog templates
2. In the Salient options panel > blog > functionality tab, turn off the option for “Author’s Bio”

The featured image will only end up in the background of a blog header when the option is enabled “Single Post Header Inherits Featured Image ” in the Salient options panel > blog > styling tab. Can you verify that that option is disabled?

Yes, the option was checked but the modification wasn’t active in the front end. Just like the change of typo that doesn’t want to be done in the front.
So I found the solution to install a plugin featured images which allows to take the first image of the article for extracts but no longer displays the featured image in the header post.
Unfortunately, I can not give you access to my blog because I am on a hidden clone provided by my host.
You know why the changes in the back aren’t done in the front? My purchase of the theme is old, but the download from themeforest is recent, I imagine it understood the updates? You have a solution for the typo ?

Hey noemimartinelli38, you can update the theme using the Envato Market plugin or by directly downloading the theme again from ThemeForest and reinstalling: http://themenectar.com/docs/salient/updating-salient/ Unfortunately, without having access to see your URL it would be hard to troubleshoot why you are having that issue with things not updating.
Could you let me know which version of the theme you’re using right now?

Just curious about a couple of things.
When I load the mobile version of my site on an ipad or my iphone it loads then errors out saying that the page couldn’t load or process. Not sure what the issue is. It seems to be doing the same with my Chrome browser on my pc. It just hangs there and runs reeeeally slow.
In the portfolio section I’m seeing a glitch with the accent color hover feature where some of the color accent squares the show on hover don’t appear to have a bottom part on the square. If you scroll down to some of the bigger images you’ll see what I’m talking about.
-Also on any page that has the image comparison feature is it possible to change the color of the slider independently of the main accent colors?

Strings that are specific to the plugins now have their own text domain i.e. salient-portfolio, salient-core etc. Which strings are you unable to alter so I can assist? Hi—where do I or how do I activate the sidebar on my blogs? I have turned on “masonry with blog sidebar” in the Blog section in the Saient panel settings but only my categories seem to be affected?

Hello—I finally bit the bullet and updated (last time I tried to update it broke to many of my things so I reverted). I’ve fixed most of the things that were messed up post update, but I still can’t figure these out:
- Mobile header padding. I have custom code to float the background image in the header, but I’m no longer able to get any padding in the mobile version to have an effect. - My Blog Post Header font scaled really small in mobile, it looks good until the last resize and then it gets small and the line space is too wide. I tried to adjust and Salient options, or target with CSS, but it still does it. - I can’t target individual pieces of the Blog list format I use, which is the thumbnail next to the blog post. I previously had excerpts hidden, the thumbnail resized, and the aforementioned blog post head font resized.
My website is collectjurassic.com, appreciate any insight into fixing these items. I don’t have Support paid for right now but am hoping for some assistance since I had these custom features previously working before the big update.

That’s great—the Excerpt code doesn’t appear to be working now though? It worked when I first put it in on my test page but not on my main page.
1. When using the Interactive Map with Leaflet, I can’t get the zoom +/- working on the front side. Running Chrome on the latest WP and Salient.
2. I’m using the Active Entire Row feature and the Interactive Map has a weird parallax effect that moves the entire row when I click and drag the map to view other areas of the map. It should only be moving the map but it is moving the entire row section. Any way to solve this?
