Hi! I’m experiencing some strange behaviour with buttons in Firefox. It seems that the sliding background is visible all the time and, when the mouse-over occurs, it moves. But only happens in Firefox (Mac and Windows), as Chrome and Safari seems to be fine. I thought it was an issue in my site, but I notice the demo page has the same issue: https://demo.edge-themes.com/hudson/elements/standard-elements/buttons/

We recently updated the Hudson theme to its last version but, strangely, since a few days (and not since the update) we are living a Javascript error blocking the internal navigation :
“Uncaught SyntaxError: Unexpected token ’:’”
Is it possible to have some support about this? I updated correctly the “edge-cpt” plugin while updating the theme.

Unfortunately, even with Woocommerce at the last version we still have a Javascript problem.
I disabled every plugins on my WP installation in order to verify it, and yes, when Woocommerce is activated we are experiencing a Javascript error in the Web dev console (Uncaught SyntaxError: Unexpected token ’:’).
This problem is blocking the possibility to click on any internal link on our pages.
Can we have a follow up concerning this problem please?

Hi, your template is very pretty, but I’m very disappointed with the changes you made in WpBakery! 1- When we insert one of your shortcode, all css shortcode parameters appear and the structure of the page becomes unreadable when there are many!
2- I have been using WpBakery for a long time with other templates and everywhere I can create row in the back office but make them invisible in the front. Why on WpBakery in your template we can’t do it? Do you have a solution to reset this parameter?

I’ve noticed an issue with the image loop in the Edge Image Slider in Chrome. If you use the left arrow, everything is fine but the right arrow just quickly scrolls through all of the images and dumps you back at the first one.

My wordpress is up-to-date and I’m running PHP 7. I tried updating the theme (my version isn’t that old) and everything crashed so I’m nervous to try that again. Any help on the slider bug would be greatly appreciated.

Once we have tested this on our local installation and as well checking on the URL you have provided on Chrome we can not see the issue you are referring to.
We have been tested this on our local installation with the latest theme version and plugins and as I can see you are using an outdated version of the theme, yours version is 1.6 and the latest version 3.1 so I would kindly ask you to follow the procedure from our article about updating the theme and its plugins and I can assure you that it will be displayed as it should.
Also try to use parent theme instead of your child theme, to be sure that possible modification did not effect the theme. And last thing I can recommend is to turn off your 3rd party plugins to see if possible some of them are interfering with the theme. As 3rd party plugins has not been tested for compatibility with our theme and we can not guaranty they will work.

Custom Fields are not enabling on this theme. Allowing custom fields is a WP default feature, is there a reason they are disabled? How can I turn them back on?

Custom fields are disabled for all our themes because we have integrated plenty of page options instead. We also use WPBakery page builder which already has tons of integrated shortcodes, so you don’t need custom fields at all.

Actually, it is needed for some plugins. I need it for a plugin that happens to be on of the most popular WordPress plugins out there. Is there a way I can add it back to the theme? I don’t understand why a standard WP option would he stripped from the theme just because you have alternatives. Seems like both should be available.

There’s nothing to “get back” because our theme isn’t built that way. Our theme is developed on a custom framework that doesn’t feature custom fields, but meta boxes and page options. What you seem to think is standard is actually an alternative when there’s no page builder included. When it comes to 3rd party plugins and their integration, please understand that we didn’t and couldn’t test all plugins out there with our themes. The official plugins we provided bundled inside our theme are the ones that are tested several times before the theme was launched and we guarantee their functionality.

This is because of some custom CSS you inserted somewhere in the theme that is overwriting default theme stylization. Please remove all custom CSS and your site should be back to normal.

Hi dear Edge Team… since the update 3.0 I have problems and I can’t update the theme… with this one (3.1) the same problem… I did the update so: 1) I activated another theme – 2) I deleted the Edge CPT plugin – 3) I replaced with the new version of ‘hudsonwp’ in the folder /wp-content/themes/hudsonwp After that I activated the theme again, installed de new version of CTP and updated all the plugins. When I tested the Site, the menu didn’t work… no response… I updated the permalinks and the menu… nothing happens… after a coulple of minutes the site went down with the following error notice:

It is possible that something was uploaded wrong or something is corrupt with your WP install.
Download a fresh copy of the theme from Theme Forest site and install / activate it.
Then re-install all required plugins.

Hi… I used a fresh copy of the theme from theme Forest and I didn’t use the WP Install… I installed the update via FTP… and I did it correctly… I’m reading all the issues and it seems that a lot of people has the same problem (Broken Site with Fatal Error and don’t working menu), so it seems that something is wrong with your theme… I talk with my hosting Provider and nothing is wrong on the server side… you are asking the people to pay extra for support when the problem seems to be on your side… or you pretend to install the update for all your clients and charge extra for that?... I’m doing everything right and it should be work without paying any extra… I have on the same Hosting other clients with other Themes and everything work properly… only hudson is giving me a headache since months… I really loved your theme but I bought it only twice for this reason, too unstable…
I’ve solved my problem doing the same like the last time: run a backup… I really hope you bring soon a properly working update…

I tried updating my Hudson Theme (it has been quite some time since I updated my website) and I followed the instructions outlined on the Documentation site (http://demo.edge-themes.com/hudson-documentation/#!/getting_started) and it completely ruined my website. All of my pages disappeared (I only see a white screen with my nav bar), except for my contact page. Part of my About page is broken (no images in the hero area and everything below it is gone).
I received an email from WordPress telling me my site was experiencing a fatal error because of the theme update. Below is the text from the email:

Since WordPress 5.2 there is a built-in feature that detects when a plugin or theme causes a fatal error on your site, and notifies you with this automated email.
In this case, WordPress caught an error with your theme, Hudson.
First, visit your website and check for any visible issues. Next, visit the page where the error was caught (/wp-admin/admin-ajax.php) and check for any visible issues.

An error of type E_COMPILE_ERROR was caused in line 4 of the file /home/content/p3pnexwpnas06_data03/48/3149148/html/wp-content/themes/hudsonwp/framework/edgt-framework.php. GoDaddy (my host) is not experiencing any hosting issues, and they’ve said it is because of the theme file. I hate how volatile this theme is. Anytime one of the plugins needs updating, my whole website seems to break and I’m missing major elements I still see exist on the demo site.
Can you help me to find out what is wrong? I have reverted my website to the last image before the update when it was last working (yesterday). I need to get my website up, so I would appreciate help. I have paid for support twice now, and it is extremely unfair to continue to pay for support for a faulty product that always requires technical assistance.

Sorry to hear that. Here we’ll send a proper guide for theme update, so make sure you’ve done all the necessary steps.
Please check if you have followed update steps that we recommend:
1. Deactivate and delete Edge CPT plugin (you can do this via FTP, just go to wp-content/plugins and remove edge-cpt plugin folder completely)
2. Download the latest theme .zip file from ThemeForest
3. Extract it and locate hudsonwp.zip
4. Extract hudsonwp.zip and locate the hudson folder
5. Copy/Replace the contents of the hudson folder to the /wp-content/themes/hudsonwp folder of your web site.
6. Login to wp-admin panel, go to Appearance > Install Plugins and install and activate Edge CPT.

My site is still broken – these steps did not work. I received the same email again from WordPress that my site contains a fatal error. I have spoken with my host and they say that your theme update files must contain some sort of error in them because it keeps corrupting my database and my entire website gets taken down each time I try to upload even a single CSS file to my site.

MORE ISSUES – what is going on? I have NEVER had this much difficulty with this theme. And I have purchased it 5 times. The FIRST TWO items on my accordion WILL NOT OPEN. I WANTED to have a blue background with white lettering – but that was an even BIGGER disaster. Hello. I am having issues with your theme. When I am testing the theme, I have to refresh the page in order to see the pics or blog content. At times, the rotating circles rotate continuously until I refresh the page, then everything loads. How can this be fixed? When visitors come, they won’t know to refresh the page. This happens on computer and mobile versions.

Yes, the opening page works fine, the lag happens when you click on tabs/pages. They take forever to load. The blog (Perspectives) is the same way. I only have one blog posted. When you initially click on tab, there is only the box for post with title. Once you refresh the page, you can see the title overlaying a picture. The pages only work properly once you refresh page.

Hi, the site is a production site so I had to revert it. I have cloudflare on the site as well, when I update I used the following instructions:
1. Deactivate and delete Edge CPT plugin (you can do this via FTP, just go to wp-content/plugins and remove edge-cpt plugin folder completely) 2. Download the latest theme zip file from ThemeForest 3. Extract it and locate hudsonwp.zip 4. Extract hudsonwp.zip and locate the ‘hudsonwp’ folder 5. Copy/Replace the contents of the ‘hudsonwp’ folder to the /wp-content/themes/hudsonwp folder of your web site. 6. Login to wp-admin panel, go to Appearance > Install Plugins and install and activate Edge CPT 1.2 7. Replace the layerslider plugin and js composer plugin on the webserver with that of the update 8. Clear all cache in my cloudflare and hummingbird plugin (also tried deactivating this) as well as my browser before entering the site again
Everything appears to be in line with the odd formatting issue which is no problem to solve, but then any menu links I click on has a perpetual loading icon and won’t change. I can see it appears to look like potentially a jquery conflict of some sort as the request never gets sent (When you click on a link the browser generally tells you connecting… but it just stays the same).
With that in mind and the fact that I can’t really update and leave it there because its a production site what things could I try?

Most likely the problem is that you didn’t update Edge Cpt plugin to 1.2 when you updated theme to 3.0. Please follow these instructions to update theme correctly and everything should be fine.

Thank you I’ve gone ahead and sent you an email, we can communicate there. When I did the update I ensure the Edge Cpt plugin was updated which I verified. I had to revert everything back to the backup after I couldn’t get the menus to load.
