I love TheArk theme, it’s the most flexible I’ve ever used. Its only flaw, in my opinion, is the use of Freshizer, which in the case of sites with many images slows down browsing a lot, consuming CPU. I prefer to disable Freshizer from the settings and show the original images, with a little custom css where needed. Navigation becomes much faster. Even using cache plugins, using the site with Freshizer has many slowdowns that disappear when you disable it. This, I repeat, only in the case of sites with many images. Do you have any news for the future to stop using freshizers or improve their use, or alternatives? Thanks and congratulations!
Hi diegoparoni!
You should be able to disable freshizer for almost anything I think. There is also a global switch at Theme Options > General > Freshizer. We are not aware of any issues with freshizer in general, it has a built-in caching mechanism to prevent any unnecessary image processing. If you are having issues it could be one of those things: underpowered server (shared GoDaddy or something like that), freshizer cache being broken by improperly configured server, a TON of images, cache plugin improperly serving images. 99% of installations we have seen have zero issues with it and any reported issues were not related to our code but other factors which are sadly out of our control.
Thanks and cheers!
Thank you! I have already disabled Freshizer in the settings, but I would like to reactivate it. Hosting is good, my case is certainly that of “TON of images”, almost 10,000. I saw that in the file \ wp-content \ plugins \ fresh-framework \ framework \ extern \ freshizer \ freshizer.php there are 3 constants that I can try to change. define (‘CACHE_TIME’, 604800); define (‘CACHE_DELETE_FILES_AFTER’, 10000000); define (‘CACHE_DELETE_FILES_check_every_x_hits’, 150); Can you suggest me how to try to change them, in the case of many images? Thanks again, good day!
I saw on a later ticket the reporting of a problem that is different from mine, however perhaps I can make myself useful: in the past I too once had the problem that all the images did not appear on the site, probably a problem related to other plugins (in my case perhaps “SSL Mixed Content Fix”). I didn’t have to disable Freshizer, I solved with these 2 actions: I deleted all the files in the folder : / wp-content / uploads / freshizer / and then I made Ark > Dashboard > System Status & Tools > Clean the Backend Cache. All the images reappeared immediately.
Hey Diego, thanks for the question.
I would change these:
1.) CACHE_DELETE_FILES_AFTER – 259200
This is all that should help.
Let me know, if it works for you.
Best, Thomas
Thanks for the advice! So I tried to modify it like this: // define (‘CACHE_DELETE_FILES_AFTER’, 10000000); define (‘CACHE_DELETE_FILES_AFTER’, 259200); but I always notice the same slowness, while browsing is much faster if I turn off Freshizer. I realize that my problem is perhaps related to the fact that the site has almost 10,000 images in the uploads folder. I know that more than 7,500 images in a web folder can cause malfunctions on servers (for example in FTP transfers). Maybe Freshizer should consider this risk, even if it happens for a few sites. Maybe in his “freshizer” folder he should put a maximum limit on the number of files, dividing them into multiple folders. They are only hypotheses. However, I repeat that I love TheArk for its versatility and I am perfectly satisfied with it also by deactivating the Freshizer function in the settings. Thank you have a nice day!
Can the template use Chinese?
Hi wulixb!
The backend is in English but on frontend you can have unlimited languages if you use WPML plugin.
Thanks and cheers!
demo page doesnt work in site
I have a problem to be able to make the portfolio, it does not work please tell me how I can do it.
Hi opticvideo!
Apologies for the interruption, the server should be okay now.
Please create a ticket with your issue and wp-login and we can look into it for you: http://arktheme.com/open-ticket/
Thanks and cheers!
Your website and demos are not working.
Hi saadulla!
Apologies for the interruption, the server should be okay now.
Thanks and cheers!
demo page doesnt work
Hi einkubator!
Apologies for the interruption, the server should be okay now.
Thanks and cheers!
hey, thanks
I would not personally bother with this theme anymore. The guys behind it have clearly lost interest and are working on other projects.
Hi rooboosoo!
We are not making any other themes, Ark is still our top theme and will be for a long time.
Thanks and cheers!
Hi there, I have some problems implementing sticky sidebar. Setting the position of a column to “sticky” using CSS isn’t working. Is there a possibility to make a sticky sidebar? I am using 2 columns of equal widths.
Hi Tornadoo!
This is a customization so you need to make sure you have your sticky CSS class (I am assuming) set correctly and have any other required code in place. I have used this plugin with success before https://cs.wordpress.org/plugins/sticky-menu-or-anything-on-scroll/ so you can try that one if you can’t get yours configured to work.
Thanks and cheers!
Hi, I have installed WPML on the web, which I had in Spanish, and now I don’t know how to translate the Sitemap> 404 part.
Now, I have 3 Sitemap> 404 (General, Spanish and English). The General can edit it, but in Spanish or English, when I try to access I get the following message “Current Layout is inherited. You need to set one, or edit parent. You can create the layout here, by clicking the: “inherited” options “
And as much as I’m looking for, I can’t find where to set it up so I can edit English and Spanish separately.
Thank you and my forgiveness for my English!
Hello, please open a ticket and send us your WP login, we will take a look.
You can open ticket on http://arktheme.com/open-ticket
Hello. I own a few Ark licenses and suddenly on one of the websites I started to get the following warning when trying to edit a random page:
“DataTables warning: table id=user-list – Ajax error. For more information about this error, please see https://datatables.net/tn/7"
After examining the console I can see the same multiple errors 508. Links lead to https://website/wp-admin/admin-ajax.php & https://website/wp-content/plugins/fresh-framework//framework/frslib/src/frslib.js?ver=55-1.47.0I am writing to you here since this seems a core theme problem and my licenses are expired. No new plugins were installed lately. Please advise.
Thank you.
Hi again Freshface team. Scratch the above – I think I found the culprit, has to be something security related. Will dive deeper into this.
There is another design issue I cant find the answer to. I joined your Arc Academy and also did not find the answer. Where can I change the colors of “Back to top” button?
Hey Urbangipsy!
1.) I’m glad, that you’ve figured the error out
2.) Color of the button – you can do it in the theme options.
Hi Freshface.
Can you be more specific please. Any color I change in theme options also affects some other elements. I dont want that, I want everything to stay exactly as it is and only change Scroll To Top buttons background color and arrow color. How to do this?
Hi Urbangipsy!
I can give you CSS to adjust it further, please open a ticket with your wp-login at http://arktheme.com/open-ticket/ and I will make you an example.
Thanks and cheers!
Hello.
That is exactly what I am looking for thank you. I have your Ark Academy subscription to find solutions to basic changes like this but I cant find it anywhere unfortunately. Also I cant open a ticket since my support for this license is expired. Thanks.
Best regards
Hello!
I’ve installed a Mega menu in my website to replace the Ark menu. Ark Woocommerce is taking over thhe new woocommerce mini cart design. Is there anyway to completely remove Ark woocommerce or bypass it so other themes can sohw?
Hi xspitfirex!
We would need to see this in action since it’s very specific. Please open a ticket at http://arktheme.com/open-ticket/ with more details and wp-login.
Thanks and cheers!
Hola, si compro este tema, podré acceder e instalar sin un costo extra la pagina pre-construida “Gym & Fitness” ? Podré trabajarla sin problemas con el editor visual composer version gratuita ?
Hello, I’m sorry we do only speak enlgish: -)
Hi, I have purchased for a client ark theme. I sent you tickets but there are problems I suppose. The menù give me a lot of problem.. see there https://bit.ly/31JhF4I The submenu items are not clickable, only the first time you see the page. (sometimes) What’s the problem? I’ve tried everyting, change the logo, the header height, the type of header Any suggestion?
Hi Aryanna_p!
I can see we have since responded to your ticket, please note it may take up to around 24 hours for replies sometimes. Thank you for your patience.
Thanks and cheers!
thanks, the menù has a problem only on chrome. the most used browser. :/
Solved
Hi nice theme, my client needs to make updates. I wondered how evident it would be that I have used this theme rather than building myself? Thanks
Hi devs!
There really is no reason to hide this fact from your client. There is plenty of work you would be doing for which you should be compensated of course.
Thanks and cheers!
Hi, presale question, I couldnt find information about “online chat window” for support, do you provide this feaure in theme? thanks
Hi likeaen!
We do not have this and I do not know any theme which has this. It is usually a 3rd party service you pay for on a monthly basis.
Thanks and cheers!
“Made entirely for Freelancers”
The first thing you notice after installing “Hire an Expert”. Because you highlight anything that can make you money link wise in lime green.
Not at all made for freelancers is it? Where’s the easy option to add all this BS for all but certain admin users?
Just facepalm.
Hi cwdltd!
The option you are looking for is in Ark > Theme Options > General > Premium Services.
Thanks and cheers!
Yeah that doesn’t excuse having to remove the “Ark” logo from 10 different sections or the text “Ark” from breadcrumbs, why the HELL is this not a GLOBAL option? Jesus man!
You think a freelancer or dev wants to spend 20mins on an install removing “hard coded” traces of ARK?
Also no PHP echo year for the copyright :/
For some reason too, the breadcrumbs “titlebar” area doesn’t use the post featured image either, which is a real simple bit of code that should be used.
I just really don’t understand why you’ve done so much “hard coding” if you will instead of using wordpress loops.
Hi cwdltd!
The logos are usually placeholders for you to be swapped with your own logo. I don’t think having nothing at all or a different logo would make it easier for you when you still need to input your own content anyway.
Year copyright is not included as standalone element but you can use PHP element to write desired PHP code to produce desired output. Here is some example code for this: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/18137336/how-do-i-make-a-php-footer-dynamic-copyright-starting-this-year
If your titlebar is not displaying featured image background then it is simply misconfigured. You can open a ticket for our devs to look at it for you http://arktheme.com/open-ticket/
Thanks and cheers!
You are not understanding at all, it’s not having the Ark logo at all that’s the issue it’s the different templates all ask for the logo again and again, instead of one global option, which means if you click a non standard template (or your client) and you haven’t been through and changed a tonne of templates then they’ll see the Ark logo.
I’m not entirely sure why you’ve not done a global option for the logo at all, you’ve made more work for yourselves and you customers.
Hi cwdltd!
Having the same logo everywhere would not cater to those people who build more complex sites with various logos in various sizes and would find such “globality” too abstract/confusing. It is not just logo but what you are saying could be applied to so many things it would be confusing. It is hard to draw the line somewhere. We drew it with with Theme Options > Global Layout for example.
Regarding layouts, what we recommend is creating your own layouts and prefixing their name with an underscore so they are on top. The default layouts are there to be duplicated/forked and adjusted if you actually need them (with that prefix for example). Otherwise they are there as fallbacks and inspiration, not really to be used – unless that’s what you prefer if you are not doing a custom designed site.
Thanks and cheers!
That’s the worst comment I’ve seen ever.
No, the logo should be a global option not an option you’ve got to change in 5+ different locations AND THEN the different logo variations as well (mobile, tablet, pc etc), so your effectively doing 20 logo replaces instead of 4.
Bought this theme 4 times now, I doubt there will be a 5th you’re refusing to listen to reason and the massive annoyance every time I install it just isn’t worthwhile.
Half the features such as loading css in the footer etc don’t even work either.
Really ignorant or you can’t understand English.
Hi cwdltd!
You need to understand you are not the only person using this theme and that other people might actually prefer the ability to set different headers and logos. Also, you are giving yourself more work on your own by changing layouts you are not even using in the first place. Not to mentioned it does take a couple of minutes so I am not sure why are we even discussing this at such length. If you let your client manage layouts that is risky too because it is not a place for basic users. I suggest offloading specific client-editable stuff into “Ark > Templates” and using plugins such as ACF to create tailored client-editable options.
Thanks and cheers!
Bought theme, paid for extended support, however, Envato’s Support login for Ark Theme will not connect to Freshface’s support. How can I get support?
Support issue is, Slider Revolution would not work until I paid for a license, so I did. Then, I built a slider from a slider template, but every way I attempt to insert the shortcode in the home page with Fresh Builder results is a blank home page. I cannot find anything about how to properly do this in Ark documentation.
Hi ynotsmile!
That is strange as we are receiving tickets normally, are you accessing the correct support link at http://arktheme.com/open-ticket/ ?
If that still won’t work, send details, relevant links and your wp-login via our ThemeForest profile page contact form. We will then be able to look into it for you.
Thanks and cheers!
Hi Freshface, and thanks for your reply. I was just able to login with Opera browser (it seems to not work with latest Firefox), so I submitted a ticket. Thank you!
Hi Freshface: I submitted a ticket, but have not received any reply yet.
Hi ynotsmile!
We usually respond within 24 hours. You should have a reply there now though.
Thanks and cheers!
This is your response: “Can you send screenshots how you insert the shortcode exactly and where? There is no real way for us to troubleshoot this for you without wp-login :/ “
Seriously??? You need to state that right on the theme’s sales page; that you cannot provide support without direct WP admin access. Unprofessional and deceptive.
Solution: Since theme documentation for integration of the included Slider Revolution is available only by additional purchase of Ark monthly videos, I looked at WP Bakery’s Visual Composer documentation, which works similarly to Freshbuilder, and found that inserting a slider shotcode will not work with Freshbuilder’s Slider component, and instead requires use of a text component.
Hi ynotsmile!
I am happy to hear you have solved it. Please note there is no way we could have known you were using Slider element instead of Text element for inserting shortcodes, which is why we ask for wp-logins or at least some screenshots and more details.
Thanks and cheers!
I told you what I used, therefore you would have known. I described exactly what was done, and I included screen shots, as you requested, therefore, you absolutely knew what I had used. I must conclude, therefore, due to your non-response after insisting you must have WP admin access (which is an inappropriate requirement because it opens the door for you to access private content and contact info), that paying for extended support on this theme, is not worthwhile since there essentially is no support. Refund requested.
Hi ynotsmile!
I think you have it mixed up, we are the ones who requested the screenshot in the first place and you have marked that particular reply with a “bad rating” in our ticketing system. We were just trying to help. Anyway, please fill this form https://themeforest.net/refund_requests/new
Thanks and cheers!
That is what I said. You requested screen shots. I sent them. Your reply was that you could not help without WordPress admin level access to the site. It is a bad rating because after the sale, you make admin access essentially a condition of paid support. That is not ok.
Hi ynotsmile!
Support is provided within reasonable limits, one of those limits is that you don’t make it unnecessarily time consuming for our team to help you. It is not our fault you are unable to simply show a complex issue in action online. This inability results in a lot of time unnecessary overhead. While not the same, imagine you want someone to fix your broken car but are unable to provide the actual car for inspection and demanding to discuss this in an inefficient manner. Inefficient is putting it lightly too, we really need to see the installation sometimes otherwise the help is not technically possible. The refund has been processed now by the way, I wish you find the theme you are looking for.
Thanks and cheers!
Hi Freshface,
One, you are comparing apples and oranges. I made it extremely simple for your team to support your product by thoroughly explaining the issue. If you are going to require WP admin access in order to support your sale, you need to state that on the product page. This was not a complex issue, and it was well-explained in the support request. Instead of resorting to blaming a customer for your offering’s own shortcoming, why not smile and do your best? Furthermore, why charge a monthly fee for access to the theme’s documentation?
Two, I did find the theme I was looking for. You refunded the extended support. I must say, though, that after this experience, I will no longer be utilizing any stock themes beyond basic blog themes. To encounter a total lack of product support post sale on any project is just not acceptable. From now on, I will go exclusively custom, as this experience has been a waste of time and energy.
Thank you for the refund.
Kind regards.
Hi ynotsmile!
I simply do not agree with what you are saying. I think you are twisting some facts, but I do not think you do this purposefully, I think it comes natural to you. You seem like a nice person overall but I think you have some complex personal issues where you are not even trying to understand/listen what other people are saying to you and then try to bend the reality as it suits you. You argue and use very specific language/words to give things different meaning. This makes it very hard to have any kind of conversation with you. Perhaps you were always surrounded by people who cannot see through it so you became like this gradually over time. You also don’t seem to value the extraordinary amount of work that goes into making things – this is something that is best understood after you put in an extraordinary amount of work into something yourself. I know all this will probably come off as uncomfortable to you but instead of further arguing, please, let’s just move on and see if you will eventually understand what I meant here with time. Anyway, I am truly sorry it did not work out for you and wish you all the best with your project!
Thanks and cheers!
Dear Freshface,
Personal attacks are at best strange from someone [you] who took money, especially when uninformed. I have designed and had dozens of custom WP themes developed for companies large and small. I know well how much effort goes into custom theme work. You, however, are selling stock themes with support, then refusing to provide the support without direct admin access, which is an inappropriate request. Additionally, you require monthly payments for access to theme documentation. I already moved on, but your attack forces me to reply. Thus, please stop attacking.
Hi ynotsmile!
I am sorry you feel this way. We only tried to help and we need detailed information in a timely manner so that’s why wp-login was brought up. It is a standard practice in this field but I understand why it may seem strange. The theme documentation is at arktheme.com/docs/ , what you are referring to is a webinar video series which no other theme has (I think) and took a really long time to record so it has additional cost attached for that reason, especially when the theme licenses themselves are cheap. If you already didn’t please file for refund here https://themeforest.net/refund_requests/new as we do not want to take your money without any benefits to you.
Thanks and cheers!
Can anyone show an example of a website with ARK theme and WPML plugin installed. I’m just curious to see how it works from the user side. Thank you!
Hi samted!
Here is an example of Ark/WPML site in the wild: https://bit.ly/37IwuXq
Thanks and cheers!
Hi FRESHFACE,
Thank you for the link, looks great.
slider revolution. how to activate ?
Hi karacahan!
Only users who purchased directly from them can activate their license. You are using a bundled plugin so there is no need to activate it for you. We supply latest plugin updates from within Ark theme updates.
Thanks and cheers!
I have the same problem as others. Because my support expired I’ve sent you an email at freshface.help.expired@gmail.com
In a nutshell, the license activation tab throws out an error. I believe this is a very critical error because we can’t activate our license.

Hi, can I ask you how Freshizer works? as it’s creating really large folders that is eating up my server space across a number of sites, thanks
Hi jonesy2367!
When you run an image through resizing, it goes through Freshizer which processes the image using PHP GD library and saves the image under new size into a cache located at /wp-content/uploads/freshizer/ . So when an image with the same size is called for again, it is not processed but instead retrieved from that cache. If you want, you can delete the whole freshizer folder and it will re-generate automatically as your site’s pages are being visited. That way you can easily get rid of some old images which you maybe no longer use on your site. Or you can manually delete the image files you think you no longer use – if you make a mistake, they re-generate. Hopefully this gives you a better idea how it works.
Thanks and cheers!
many thanks for your answer
just a quick question…old images – if i delete the freshizer file do then delete them from the regular upload folder, thanks
Usually no, delete only freshizer folder
Otherwise there is nowhere to generate images from.
