We are trying to password protect certain pages using Wordpress’s native functionality, but it doesn’t work – I get a 502 Error. After troubleshooting with plugins and themes, it appears it’s the theme that is preventing it from working. Any ideas why?

The 502 Bad Gateway error specifically means that the server received an invalid response from an inbound server.
Could you please contact your webhosting provider and ask them to check server DNS setting and errorlog. This is server related issue.
I have spoken to WP Engine about it in great detail. We deactivated all plugins, problem still persists. We changed themes, and the problem was fixed. looks like a theme issue to me
Could you please provide an error log of 502 bad gateway error please?
Our theme is using by 500+ customers and our demo site is running the theme for over a year without issue so we don’t think its’ theme code issue but there might be some server settings or firewall which causes this error. Thank you for your understanding.
