Hi, how many plugins these theme use?

Hey Seranum,

The page builder and the Salient core plugin are the only two required plugins. We include a handful of other add-on plugins for additional optional functionality that be used if desired.

Hey For no reason all my settings was reset. I was changing my accent color and some minute after everything was clear as the first set up. All the font, color, size, logo image, blog settings was reset. And the emoji from my website doesn’t recognize and be replaced by « ? ». Do you know If something can generate this by your side ?

Hey JeremyZehren,

I’m sorry to hear that. If your emoji’s are not rendering, it’s possible that your database is not using the correct charset in order to properly encode them and likely needs to be changed to. Here’s an article on that topic.

As for your options resetting—there’s no known issue which would cause that, but it sounds like some sort of server error occurred which would need to be examined by means of your server error log. Please open a ticket on the support forum in regards.

Thanks in advance

Hi there, I have a suggestion for the long-term list of improvements – Search Field
Current option allows me to place a small icon in the header, and that’s pretty much it. There are no options to add it in the page as a separate full width row so that I can make a nice CTA or create a custom “search page”
Alternative option is to create a footer and use search in a widget area / sidebar – this option is limited (non ajax) and always located at the bottom of the page. Simply put it sucks.

Hey Lateralus578,

I’ve noted your +1 for the idea on the wishlist :)

Kind regards

Is it possible to use custom image (png or svg) for the cart, search and profile icons in the header? If so, through css? And if yes, can you help me with the css code to do so?

Hey SjoerdDooren,

It would require either a CSS addition or an override of the “nectar_header_button_items” function in salient/nectar/helpers/header.php

If you use CSS, an example would look like:

.icon-salient-search:before  {
  visibility: hidden;
}

.icon-salient-search {
  background-image: url('YOUR-ICON.png');
  background-size: cover;
}

Amazing! So cool. Maybe a nice feature for the future to have in the theme settings :)

Glad I could help, SjoerdDooren :)

nice theme

Thanks AliA :)

Hey pitiusasmarket,

Please see my response to your earlier comment in regards.

Thanks for your help as the smartphone issue has been solved following your recomendation.

But I see another problem with the same youtube video while on my laptop now. If I open the browser in private mode the thumbnail of the youtube video doesn´t show up as expected: Two black bars and smaller size than the container allows. https://ibb.co/G3JCx5X But if I open the page url in the same window I´m using to edit the site, the thumbnail is showing up correctly. https://ibb.co/drjwn8R

I can´t figure out why…... Can this be solved somehow? Thanks in advance.

Forget it….. I guess I found out why youtube thumbnail is performing this way. Happy New Year to you all !!!

I’m glad that you were able to figure it out, canramon :)

Happy New Year to you as well!

Hi guys,

Wondering if there’s a way to “hide” the logo behind the background of the slide out widget.

If the mobile menu requires scrolling (lots of items), the items slide under the logo as you scroll up – it just looks a bit awkward on the logo we have in use (which also has transparency)

If I could maybe have the logo z-index sit beneath the slide out widget background it would make for an easy work-around.

Happy New Year too – look forward to seeing what you’ve got in store for us in the coming year!

You’re welcome, ND81 :)

One further thing – should Google Analytics (GA4) be placed in the ‘Head’ or ‘After Body’ box? I always assumed it should be in the Head, but I note Tag Manager is listed as an example there…

Thanks

Hey ND81, You can paste that in the Head section :)

Hi There, for the self hosted video player, is there a way to hide the play button entirely?

Hey AkeatsKes, That option is still present within the Self Host Video Player element settings. Make sure that you have the “Player Functionality” set to “Standard Video Player” and not “Lightbox Trigger” in the element settings as well.

Kind regards

Thank you! I had a feeling I simply couldn’t find it. Another question…

I have a link included in a ‘split line heading’ which creates an error angled up with a slight animation. I love the way this looks.

Is there a way to have this be the cursor for portfolio items in a post grid instead of a ‘view’ button? Thanks!

Hey AkeatsKes!

Could you kindly share the page URL with the split line heading cursor so that I can take a look at your current settings?

Thanks in advance

Hi there,
Do you guys have any immediate plans to incorporate dark mode/ a floating toggle switch?

Hey Romanesco,

Those are not items on the roadmap for the short-term.

Kind regards

By default the Mobile Menu is loading the Off Canvas menu items instead of the Top Navigation Menu items. I want my main menu items to be on mobile. Is Off Canvas the main menu? Is there a way to switch which one is on mobile? Thanks.

Hey prophecyprojekt,

The off canvas menu should include the menu items from both your top navigation menu location as well as any items assigned explicitly to the off canvas menu location

Do you have the theme option labeled “Off Canvas Menu Mobile Nav Menu items” enabled in the Salient options > Header navigation > Off canvas menu tab?

If so, kindly share your URL so that I can take a look to assist.

Awesome, problem solved. Thank you.

You’re welcome, prophecyprojekt :)

Hello & have a nice day. Wish u the best in upcoming new year. Truly love your theme even when i do lots of customization. I have a question. Can’t find setting to set flickity carousel direction. I’ve got 2 of them and i want one to move from right to left and other from left to right. Originally flickity carousel moving from right to left on autorotate. So i need one that moves in opposit direction. How can i do it? Thank u for attention.

Hey raffess,

Reversing the direction of the autorotation could be handled with a custom CSS rule. You could give a class name to the parent row element. e.g. ”reversed-carousel” and then add in the following rule: https://pastebin.com/WzfX1vF9

Cheers

Hi! Amazing theme, one question:

- Can you make it possible to add a global section above the primary header? Currently its below header or above footer.

Hey SjoerdDooren, I’m glad to hear you’re enjoying it!

I’ve noted your +1 for that idea on the wishlist :)

Kind regards

Amazing. Is there a way to achieve it with CSS for the time being?

Unfortunately, CSS wouldn’t be the best approach for this modification and wouldn’t work without a bunch of different media queries to keep adjusting the header navigation down after the global section for each screen size.

Hello—I’m having some trouble with getting my website indexed and getting the error messages in google search console about how “page isn’t usable on mobile” and the following errors come up “text is too small to read”, clickable elements too close together” and “content wider than screen”.

An example page where these errors come up are https://whydontyouknowthis.com/debt-free-living-tips

Is there some global setting I need to adjust? Can you please advise?

Thanks

Hey JayCarver,

You can see that the screenshot for your site on the google mobile friendly test is showing the page without any stylesheets loaded: https://ibb.co/qkfQy9V

When you look at the “more resources” tab, you’ll see that many Page resources couldn’t be loaded, which is what’s causing the error: https://ibb.co/XDGWCMY

There are various reasons that the Google bot mobile test can fail to load resources during the test e.g.

Quota limits reached, server configuration issues etc.

Have you tried to combine all of your CSS with the autoptimize plugin yet? Currently, it looks as though you’re only combining the JavaScript.

Kind regards

The Top Navigation Menu shows an underline when the page is ‘current’, and when navigating to one of its child pages, it remains underlined. Cool.

Having set a News page (Blog), wWhen navigating blog posts, ‘News’ doesn’t remain underlined, how can I fix this?

Hey quomo,

Do you have your blog page that is used in your menu set as the “Posts page” within the WordPress settings > Reading? If so, can you kindly share your URL so that I can take a look?

Thanks in advance

Yes, Reading’s Post Page is set to ‘News’ page. I have seen it happening in more than one of our sites, but you can check this one https://bit.ly/3vgQLAJ

Thanks quomo,

You can correct that prior to the next release by adding the following snippet into the custom CSS box located in the Salient options panel > General Settings > CSS/Script related tab:

#header-outer #top .current_page_parent > a .menu-title-text:after {
    transform: scaleX(1);
}

Hello Theme Nectar is it possibile to enlarge the font of the tabs title please? Thank you

Hey sdoganati,

The tabs will inherit from the “body” field in the Salient options panel > typography > general html elements tab. If you wish for them to use a different size, you can add the following snippet into the custom CSS box located in the Salient options panel > General Settings > CSS/Script related tab:

.wpb_tabs_nav a {
    font-size: 24px;
}

Kind regards

I think this website uses salient, but caan you tell how can one achieve the cursor reveal effect on this site’s header? I wasn’t able to find it on demo sites? https://www.nksecurities.com/

Hey twadajh,

They implemented that effect with custom code as it’s not a default option within Salient.

Kind regards

Is there a way to swap the primary, secondary nav menu based on the condition that a user clicks a button? I basically want to show menu ‘a’ if user has the ‘cookie a’ set, or menu ‘b’ is user has the ‘cookie b’ set

Hey enoch524,

That would require a modification to the salient/includes/partials/header/header-menu.php file, which can be overloaded via your child theme. Specifically the menu location passed to wp_nav_menu could be set via a conditional based on your choosing.

Kind regards

thank you. so I am looking to have 2 menus that could be in the ‘top menu’ location depending on a cookie that is set. I see several ‘wp_nav_menu’ areas though. How do I reference a specific menu id using this function in this file?

Hey,

The wp_nav_menu to edit would depend on which header format you’re using. If you can let me know or share your URL I could point you to the right line number.

In general, the modification you’re trying to accomplish would look something like this: https://pastebin.com/FzRJrW72

Kind regards

Is it possible that “Extra class name” are not displayed at the Image Comparison in the frontend?

Hey Buglover,

Thanks for pointing that out – if you’d like to target the element by a custom class name before that’s get corrected in the next version you could also add your class to the parent column.

Cheers

Hi Team, you use a quite general CSS-declaration [class*=” icon-”] that conflicts with other plugins that also use such a common icon-class. An approach with e.g. a prefix of “salient-” in front of such common classes would be great.

Hey RobertGLGY,

That rule is for the legacy icons that existed in Salient since the launch of the theme back in 2013. I’ve noted to mend it in the next release :)

Kind regards
