When we use the portfolio video show light-box only feature. How do we give special embed commands to the embedding Youtube video? like for example disabling showing recommend videos at the end with the ”?rel=0” command? Thank you.
Hey joeri84,
Currently custom query attributes are ignored when using the gallery Lightbox option. However, I’ve noted to add support for those in the next release. If you’d like early access, please open a ticket on the support forum in regards.
Thanks in advance
Is there any integration for the Woocommerce Product Recommendations plugin? Adding these as woocommerce carousel elements like the woocommerce product element would be ideal.
Hey MarcGarner, there’s no built-in functionality to enable the carousel functionality on third party sources like that plugin. However, I’ve noted the idea
Please, is it possible to somehow put a list of categories into the code in the single portoflio page, just below the headline of the portfolio, just like on https://www.cpbailey.co.uk/simply-plan Thank you!
Hey romankac,
Unfortunately there’s no built-in option to add the categories there. You would need to copy the wp-content/plugins/salient-portfolio/includes/frontend/single-portfolio.php file to your child theme in order to add the logic in for that display.
Kind regards
Thanks for the reply, however I have no idea what the correct php code should be to use to display the list of categories, or at least project attributes in single-portfolio.php
Hey romankac,
Here’s an example PHP snippet to output all of the assigned project categories: https://pastebin.com/LrMaWrnr
Kind regards
This code has stopped working and the categories are not showing on the frontend.
Sorry, my mistake, I was uploading the file to a different directory. However, it would be great the category display feature directly into the settings options.
Hey romankac, I’m glad you were able to get it working
Kind regards
Hello, I have problem with upgrading php 7.4 to 8. The theme is craching, le problem looks like to come from redux-framework I’ve got the 10.5.3 version of salient, how could I update the theme from theme dashboard ? And, does the new update support PHP 8 ? Thank you for answer Maxime
Hey Maxime,
You will need to be using a version of Salient that’s greater than v14 as older versions will not be able to run PHP8. The current release of Salient is 15.0.8.
Please take a look at the documentation for upgrading here: https://themenectar.com/docs/salient/updating-salient/
Kind regards
After latest update Lottie files are showing up twice, one on top of the other.
Hey prophecyprojekt, the last few updates didn’t change anything relating to Lottie integration. Because I can’t seem to replicate it locally or on the live Salient demo, please open a ticket on the support forum in regards so that we can take a closer look into your setup.
Thanks in advance
Hi guys.
How can I get this text scrolling effect? https://pasteboard.co/3djTHx905S9k.png Thanks.Hey LuisVoronov,
Those are two rows using the “Scrolling Text” element, but both rows set a slight “rotate” degree within the transform settings. You can actually import that specific section via the Salient Studio template library to your page in order to use or examine it: https://ibb.co/CK3kJd4
Kind regards
Thank you soo much for the info
You’re welcome, LuisVoronov
Hello,
Is there any feature to make the main navigation (with mega menu) on click instead of on hover ? I find the navigation a bit sloppy on mega menu (unespected open menu when trying to access a submenu)
Thanks Regards
Hey Rico1, unfortunately there’s no built-in functionality to change sub menus or a mega menu to open via click. That would require some custom JavaScript via a child theme and CSS to prevent the current open on hover.
Kind regards
Hello,
Thanks for your reply. Have a nice weekend.
You as well, Rico1!
Good Morning!
I have been banging my head on trying to make a specific element in salient and just cant seem to figure out how to and hope you might be able to help. So here is what I’m looking to do. I would like to make this element (link to images below) and have it so that the element stays the same for both desktop and mobile and not stack. I cant seem to figure out if I’m supposed to use a single column and then have a 3 column inside or if its supposed to be a 3 column off the rip. I do not need the drop down functionality. All I care about is the rank, name, and points section all staying on the same line on both desktop and mobile.
Desktop view – https://www.bulbaritos.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Example.png
Mobile view- https://www.bulbaritos.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Example-mobile.png
Website for reference – https://pickem.callofdutyleague.com/leaderboards/2023/major2
Hey Anthony_And_Marisa!
You would be able to achieve by setting 3 columns for your desktop layout and then using the “Responsive Options” tab within each of the columns settings to specify that same width for the mobile viewport. Please refer to the following section within the docs: https://themenectar.com/docs/salient/page-builder-columns/#width
Kind regards
Hello,
I saw a website build with Salient and I would like to be able to reproduce an effect, the site is:
http://www.javaclub.ch/On the home page of this website, the content of the home page goes over the slider video when you scroll.
I would like to know where is the buton setting to activate this function, and I also would like to know if it is possible to do the same effect on the footer.
Best regards
Hey nedana,
That site you’ve shared is using the “Page Header” metabox to set a fullscreen parallax video at the top: https://ibb.co/Sf75055
You can also create a parallax footer by enabling the “Footer Reveal Effect” in the Salient options panel > footer tab, assuming that you’re using the “Main footer area” option.
Kind regards
Thank you for your help
Best Regards
You’re welcome, nedana
Hi, how can I change the width of the blog sidebar? I have looked for everywhere but I cannot find the option! Please let me know
Hey keidderf,
You modify that by adding the following snippet into the custom CSS box located in the Salient options panel > General Settings > CSS/Script related tab:
@media only screen and (min-width: 1000px) {
body .post-area.span_9 {
width: 65%;
margin: 0;
padding-right: 4%;
}
body #sidebar.span_3 {
width: 35%;
}
}
Kind regards
Hey, thanks a lot for your help!
You’re welcome, keidderf
Anyone else run into the critical/fatal website error when updating PHP to 8 from 7.4? I have 10+ Salient websites I am trying to update and every time I update the PHP the site breaks. Help please
Hey DenWebDesign!
Salient offers PHP8 compatibility, and that’s the recommended version to use. You will however need to be using a version of Salient that’s greater than v14 as older versions will not be able to run it. The current release of Salient is 15.0.8. If you’re already running a recent release of Salient please open a ticket on the support forum in regards.
Hey djb19, You can remove that line added to the side of blockquotes by adding the following snippet into the custom CSS box located in the Salient options panel > General Settings > CSS/Script related tab:
blockquote.tiktok-embed:before {
display: none;
}
Kind regards
Thanks so much. It’s removed but the space is there so the padding is uneven even though I put the same padding on all side. So the blue line isn’t there but the space for it is
Hey djb19, you can even that out by also including the following rule:
blockquote.tiktok-embed {
padding-left: 0;
}
Cheers
Hey djb19, I’m not 100% clear on what you mean by 4×4 for the thumbnail—Are you referring to the thumbnail aspect ratio (1:1 square), or possibly the column grid number (4 columns)?
Sorry, yes 1:1 aspect ratio
No worries, djb19. You can modify the post thumbnails to display in that aspect ratio by adding the following snippet to your child theme functions.php https://pastebin.com/QSnCfXJb
Once that’s been added, you’ll need to regenerate your thumbnails by using a plugin such as:https://wordpress.org/plugins/regenerate-thumbnails/
I can’t see the custom fields option on portfolio items. Is it possible to enable it?
Hey again beachmat,
Are you using AFC or manually adding them via your child theme?
Kindly use the support forum when posting multiple questions in the future: https://themenectar.ticksy.com/
Thanks in advance
OK, sorry. I’m not using ACF or any extra plugin. I just need the option to show custom fields in the back end editor for the project, which doesn’t seem to be possible currently. It’s a setting within the custom post type isn’t it? Is there any reason for it to be disabled?
Hey beachmat,
You’ll have to add ‘custom-fields’ to the portfolio post type ‘supports’ argument in wp-content/plugins/salient-portfolio/includes/admin/register-post-type.php: https://ibb.co/0DqnFNWI’ve noted to enable that by in the next version.
Cheers
Thanks
Feature request. On a page for a single portfolio item, where it shows the featured image at full width at the top, can you please make it responsive? It’s still sending the full size image on smaller screens.
Hey beachmat, Can you kindly share one of your projects URLs so that I can take a look at your setup?
Thanks in advance
Hey beachmat,
It looks like your performance plugin (speed-booster-pack) is adding that lazy loading.
However, I can’t seem to replicate locally why a srcset is being omitted in your featured image but have noted to look further into it for the next release.
Kind regards
Ok, thanks. Without wanting to appear rude or ungrateful, I did actually raise this on the forum 2 years ago.
Hey beachmat,
I’m sorry to hear that—It was likely added to the dev list at the time, but got skipped due to it not being recreated locally.
I also can’t see it occurring on the live demo server currently e.g. https://themenectar.com/salient/ascend/portfolio/mountain-drift/ It would be helpful to take a closer look into the backend of your setup. Could you kindly reach out via the contact form on my author page in regards?
Sorry for the delay coming back. Those featured images on my single portfolio pages now have srcset, but for some reason browsers are still loading the full size image on smaller screens. Guess it could be a browser or Wordpress issue rather than Salient? Don’t know.
Hey beachmat,
With how WordPress defines the sizes attribute on images, the large size (default of 1024w) will generally get used for mobile devices, taking into consideration the pixel ratio of mobile devices. You could reduce the width of your large size in Settings > Media if desired.
Sorry, I had the wrong image in your demo – it’s photo-1505299916137-b69793a66907.jpg isn’t it, and I see srcset is working. So not to worry. But it would be nice if the gallery thumbnails had srcset.
Apologies, I was looking at the a element instead. All good.
Hello,
Is there any way of displaying portfolio items in fullscreen mode within the widgets? So they have full width?
When adding the portfolio widget, there are options for 4/3/2 columns and then full width, but when I switch it to full width the only thing I can see is a small thumbnail. It acts exactly the same as 4 colums mode, is this a bug or am I not setting it up correctly?
Thanks!
Nevermind! I found a solution, it has to be done via ‘post grid’ as opposed to ‘portfolio’ widget.
Hey dephixeb1! I’m glad that you were able to find a solution
And yes, the post grid is the newer and more flexible option for creating grids of any post type.
Kind regards
In version 15.0.8, in the recent projects module, if you choose the first project style on the list (meta below thumb with links on hover), the text buttons that appear when you hover over a project are not visible. I don’t know when it stopped working but it was ok in version 14.
Hey beachmat,
Thanks for pointing that out. You can correct it prior to the next update by adding the following snippet into the custom CSS box located in the Salient options panel > General Settings > CSS/Script related tab:
https://pastebin.com/0Xs59gSKKind regards
OK, thanks.
You’re welcome, beachmat
Halo, can i move (back to top button position) to bottom left? How?
Hey shaky512,
You can accomplish that change by adding the following snippet into the custom CSS box located in the Salient options panel > General Settings > CSS/Script related tab:
body #to-top {
right: auto;
left: 20px;
}
Kind regards
Thanks, it works
You’re welcome, shaky512
Hi! it’s possibile to insert title etc in post grid not under the image but left or right? thanks a lot
Hey davide_difrancesco!
There is no option for that just yet, however, the next feature-based release will be adding the option
Kind regards
Thanks! but for now is there a option with css? I love the post grid look.
Have a nice day!
Hey davide_difrancesco,
If you set the style to “Content under featured image”, you could use CSS similar to this as a starting point: https://pastebin.com/jAZ6TwvK
Hi! Is there any major Salient update coming soon? Hoping new features!
Hey dreiblau! Yes, we’re always in the process of working on the next big thing
If you’d like to get early access to the beta once it’s available, I would recommend periodically checking back to the changelog as we place a banner there to access it during that time.
Kind regards
Hi. How can I change the order of the socials in the navigation menu? The problem is when facebook and linked in site together it says ‘Fin”.
I have had a look in the PHP documents, but wasn’t able to located the socials. Please can you help me change the order so it goes. Facebook, Instagram, Linked.
Here is the issue on the website.
https://karlbenz.co.uk/Many thanks
Hey alexbirks,
You can copy the function “nectar_get_social_media_list” (located in salient/nectar/helpers/header.php) to your child theme functions.php file in order to alter the order of those.
Kind regards
Hi. Thank you for that. That has worked perfectly in the main navigation menu but it has not changed the order in the mobile menu. Where might I find that list? Thanks
You’re welcome, alexbirks
You should be able to correct that order by disabling the option labeled “Off Canvas Menu Add Social” in the Salient options > header navigation > off canvas menu tab. I know it seems strange—but turning that off will default to inheriting the same list as you have enabled in your top nav and keep the order.
