Looking to make a one-page based fitness/gym site with a floating menu that slides to each section on the single page. The main element we plan on leveraging is the portfolio. I would like a menu item that slides on the same page to the portfolio section that looks like this type of portfolio: https://d-themes.com/wordpress/udesign/elements/portfolio_skill/grid-4-columns/. Can I achieve this with this theme?

Yes, you can create a one-page site using our theme on your site easily.
You want Portfolio as the main base of your site, you have to design the page with Portfolio element as per your requirements, and then set sections ID’s and then you can set Sticky Navigation element and items to work on ID’s as simple as that.

Hi, since I installed the theme update, when I make changes to pages using Elementor there is no way to exit the editor. I click “save changes” but the button to exit the editor no longer appears…..

If you are unable to exit the Elementor editor after making changes to your pages, here are some possible solutions you can try:
Clear Your Browser Cache: Try clearing your browser cache and refreshing the page. Sometimes, cached versions of pages can cause issues with page builders like Elementor.
Disable Plugins: Deactivate all your WordPress plugins except Elementor and try editing your pages again. This will help you identify whether any of your plugins are conflicting with Elementor.

This prompted us to update the theme with the latest technology, features, and coding standards while removing old functionalities like shortcodes and adding tons of new features. This was done to ensure that our customers don’t need any shortcodes or customization to make their site.
In addition, the latest version of the UDesign theme is fully compatible with the Elementor plugin, which is the most famous and useable page builder plugin that is super easy to use like drag and drop. This plugin can be used to build your site using the latest version of the theme.
Regarding your specific situation, it is my personal opinion that you should not update the theme immediately. Instead, we suggest creating a staging site of your current site and then updating the theme on it. This will allow you to see any issues that may arise and to fix them on the staging site with the latest version. Once you have addressed all the issues, you can make the staging site live so that in the future, whenever you need to update the theme, you will not face any issues again.
Alternatively, if you prefer to use the old version of the theme, your site will still appear fine for a period of time.

Specifically to my question. I found that in your changelog of version:4.0 You removed lots of features from V3.x and i think you are not supporting olders versions and clients anymore.

Hi. I’ve made the 4.6 update, coming from 3.4. But i’m totally lost…
My website is a simple basic blog. I need to show only certain categories on the homepage, with excerpts. The menu needs to send to the others categories posts, with excertps too.
Before it was easy, i think i’ve set homepage as “Blog page”, and excluded some categories from the blog page by editing page-Blog (with minus**)
Now im totally lost. I dont know where to begin… I understand that you needed some changes, but the configuration is totally different (from a simple “Udesign” page on the backoffice to all these menus and builders…)

Using U-Design 3.4.18 with WordPress 6.1.1 and PhP 7.4 for an art show. Needs to be updated but is scared to update after reading all the woes and worries. Are there any particular steps or things I should do or undo before updating to U Design Last Update 22 February 2023? Has had U Design for years and loved it. Now is scare silly of it.

The old version of the UDesign theme was very old compared to the latest themes with the latest technology, features, and coding standards. If we cannot update the theme so it will not work in the future and all of our customer’s sites will be lost. So we make the decision to update it with the latest technology, features, and coding standards we removed the old functionality like shortcodes and we added tons of new features in the theme so that customers don’t need any shortcodes and customization to make the site.
Also, I can see that you are not using a page builder plugin to build your site. The latest version of the theme is fully compatible with the Elementor plugin it is the most famous and useable page builder plugin and super easy to use like drag and drop you can use this plugin to build your site using the latest version of the theme.
It is my personal opinion for you not to update the theme for now and create a staging site of your current site then update the theme on it after that your site will appear with issues then fix all the issues on the staging site with the latest version and once you have done with it then make it live so that in the future whenever you need to update the theme you will never face any issue again. Otherwise don’t update the theme and use the old version so that your site will appear fine for a period of time.

I did that in that past couple hours, I thank you for your prompt response.That is highly commendable and exactly what you’ve always done.Your just a nice guy and that’s all there is to it. I migrated a copy of my site to a subdirectory on my hosting using Duplicator. It worked perfectly. Then I attempted to update. The theme itself seemed to update but it did break the site. Many theme options were not available. I’m thinking I needed to register / activate the theme, but unsure if I do that if my main actual site will remain intact. I understand why the change and see that may authors are switching to Elementor. Elementor is not my thang. I did not get an option for Elementor plugin with the newly updated theme in the demo site, I would have tried it again. I’m looking for it. I do thank you so much though, If this does not work well for me, I’ve had a very pleasurable experience with not only you as an author but the theme itself until now. Even if I have to go something else, you’ve been awesome.

Thanks for your kind words and appriciation, we always tried to make our theme user-friendly for our customers.
And yes you have to activate the theme with the purchase code under Udesign >> Theme License.
If you will activate the theme on your test/duplicate site with same purchase code. You will not be able to update the theme and plugins on your live site.
After completing the testing, you can again activate the theme with same purchase code on your live site as well but before that you have to unregister the theme from your test/duplicate site.
That is how it works.

First of all, please make sure that your site is running on the PHP version 7.4
