my support is expired but i just ran into something i don’t understand: i’ve created a new page and gave it the shows template which i’ve customized in customizer; this page looks fine in frontend, but when choosing this page to show up as custom content in front page nothing is displayed. Is there any workaround?

The Custom content module can only display content from standard pages created with the page editor. If you want to display Shows on your homepage, you can use the Shows module.

Looks like a great theme. Just a couple of questions before I buy…
- What page builder does it use (WPbakery, Elementor or something else?) and can I build the homepage and other pages how I like?
- I see that the theme hasn’t been updated for a while… will you keep updating it so it is compatible?
- On the homepage, it shows a show with like 3 episodes for example. Does it have a feature of playing all episodes in that show with one click?
- Can I just use the podcasts like a blog and disable the player on some of them while I work on the podcast itself and then make it available when it’s ready?

Thanks for the questions.
1. We are not relying on any page builder for the theme and its specific features, although all page builders are supported and should work fine. The home page is “built” through the theme settings/customizer. There is a “Custom content” section that can accept any external content through shortcodes, for example.
2. We make sure the theme is always compatible with the latest version of WordPress. If there is a need for an update, we will, of course, release an update as soon as possible.
3. There is a “view all episodes link” which will lead you to a category page which lists all episodes in that “show”.
4. Yes, regular blog posts won’t display the payer.

Also, is it that there are only a fixed number of layouts to choose from for the homepage, or can I customise them as I need? What I was hoping to do was have different categories of shows displayed in different sections on the homepage. Is this possible?
And final question – if I don’t have a podcast audio yet, and just publish it without the audio, how will it display in the featured shows section. Like right now, on your main homepage, it shows a play button instead of the featured image. But if there isn’t an image, how would it show? Example here – https://ibb.co/fnrpM1M

1. Thanks for letting us know about the test drive functionality issue. We will look into it.
2. Regarding the layouts, you have two sections available to display episodes – standard and featured. Both sections have multiple layouts to choose from.
3. The featured shows section and other episode layouts have an option to disable the play button.

1. You can insert a video into the content of the podcast episode post. See an example here: https://demo.mekshq.com/megaphone/?p=167
2. Themes can’t handle content; they are only in charge of the way your content is presented, so you will need a plugin to handle RSS feeds: https://wordpress.org/plugins/search/podcast+RSS/
3. “Shows” are categories reserved for podcast posts, so one podcast episode can have multiple shows assigned. I believe you can use the tag taxonomy to group shows into seasons.
4. With Megaphone, you can have a host and multiple guests. The theme uses a plugin for the guest authors: https://wordpress.org/plugins/co-authors-plus/

From what I can see, it seems that you are using the built-in WordPress blog template that lists all posts by default, regardless of the category. What you need to do is assign the “Episodes” template to a page if you only want to list the episodes: https://prnt.sc/heeMp-RoUt3T

When adding custom content, if we add an image that is linked, the image gets an underline added. Can’t seem to find a setting where we can removed the underline for links. Is there an easy setting, or will we need to accomplish this through CSS? Thanks.

Hello! I purchased your theme but haven’t used it in a while. I really love some of the stuff that has been added since I got it! I want to switch back but I have a few questions:
1) Can the “Shows” (the category list with episodes listed below it) be added to any page with shortcodes or something?
2) Are the “hosts” and “guests” actually wordpress authors? We are a narrative podcast so I’d want the cast members who are in each episode listed on the episode page despite the fact that I post them all, even if I’m not in them. Is there a way to select who is shown as the “host”?
3)Is there a page where all the hosts can be displayed? I’m not finding a page like that on the demo. We are a narrative podcast so I’d want the cast members who are in each episode listed on the episode page and then have a full cast page where everyone is shown.
4) Are the “host” boxes customizable? I don’t think I’d want the full bio on each page but having the bio on the cast page would be great.
5) When you click on an individual host and see their archive page, is it possible to have show lists there instead of just archives of all the individual episodes?
6) Can videos and youtube playlists be embedded in pages easily? We release our shows as videos and audio podcasts.

1. When you create a page, you can assign the “Shows” template to it and get the list of shows displayed on the frontend. See example: https://demo.mekshq.com/megaphone/?page_id=1611
2. Host are WordPress authors, and the guests are added by using a plugin called Co-Authors Plus and they appear as “Guest authors” in the WordPress dashboard, but you have the option to add and remove authors per post.
3. You can assign the “Authors” template to a page. See an example on our demo website: https://demo.mekshq.com/megaphone/?page_id=775
4. I’m afraid the author boxes are not customizable. You have the option to turn them on or off and display them above or bellow the content.
5. Only the posts can be listed on author archives. Listing shows would require theme customization.

Hiya! I have a question about configuring the footer. When I go to Customize > Theme Options > Footer, there are multiple options for choosing the number and sizing of the columns you would like in a footer.
With the instructions that “Each column represents one Footer Sidebar in Appearance -> Widgets settings” I assumed I would find matching options in the widget settings, but as the options in the customizer contain numbers “5”, “6”, “8”, and “12” but under Appearance -> Widgets I see only options for Footer Columns numbered 1 to 4, this does not appear to be the case.
I searched this message board, the documentation, and the YouTube tutorials for instructions on how to resolve this and I can’t find anything. Is this a bug or am I missing something obvious?
I thought I would post here before submitting a ticket in case anyone else has the same question and it’s easily answered. Thanks for the great theme!
LOL nevermind, I worked it out, the numbers refer to the rough percentage of space each column takes up. I’m utterly maths challenged and it causes me no end of mistakes that are obvious to everyone else. Thanks!

I recently purchased this theme and I tried submitting this support request via the support website, but the form failed on multiple attempts so I’m posting my question here.
I followed the instructions to setup a separate category for blog posts where I have one category called “Up Against Reality” for podcast episodes and another called “Blog” for blog posts. When I go to Appearance -> Customize -> Theme Options -> Podcast -> General -> Select categories to separate podcast from regular blog and try to choose “Blog”, it’s not available. The only category listed in “Up Against Reality”.
I’m using Wordpress 6.2.2. I’m also using the v10.2.1 of the Blubrry PowerPress plugin.

This is a wild guess but could you check if the Blog category has at least one post published? If not, try to add at least one post and see if it appears in the list.
