I don’t understand why I publish a Blog article and creates a strange url path: example: https://candleartesoteric.com/2025/03/22/red-candle-meaning/

Also is accesible in a clean url: https://candleartesoteric.com/red-candle-meaning/ I only want the second way, which is the clean url. If not I understand is duplicating urls and the path with numbers is not good for seo.

It sounds like your blog is generating two different URLs for the same content: one with the date-based path (https://candleartesoteric.com/2025/03/22/red-candle-meaning/) and another with a cleaner, simplified URL (https://candleartesoteric.com/red-candle-meaning/). This is a common issue in many content management systems, particularly WordPress, which is often set to include the publication date in the URL by default.

Why does this happen?

By default, WordPress and many other CMS platforms create URLs based on the post’s publishing date, like this:

https://example.com/yyyy/mm/dd/post-title/

While this structure may help in organizing content chronologically.

How to fix this and have only the clean URL:

Change your URL structure settings (if you’re using WordPress):

Go to your WordPress Dashboard. Navigate to Settings > Permalinks. Under Common Settings, choose the “Post name” option. This will give you URLs like https://example.com/red-candle-meaning/. Save the changes.

This should prevent WordPress from appending the date to the URL.

I have created about 10 sites on different templates over the last year – but none of them give me as much headache as Porto. Unfortunately, that’s a fact.

Every small update of plugins or anything on the site requires intervention and corrections. Now for example, Porto functinality plugin is not installed at all – despite the fact that all server parameters correspond to the recommended. I use VPS on which Parallel works another 5 sites on WP and 1 platform on a custom framework. Moreover, attempts to update the plugin from Porto lays the whole server. Unfortunately, I state the fact – do not recommend this template, especially if you like me ran out of support

1. Go to Porto >> Dashboard and unregister the theme license.
2. Re-register the theme license using the same purchase code.
3. After that, ensure you update the theme first by going to Appearance >> Themes.
4. Then, update the plugin by going to Appearance >> Install Plugins.

Related Products is a section on some templates that pulls products from your store that share the same tags or categories as the current product.

These products cannot be specified in the admin but can be influenced by grouping similar products in the same category or by using the same tags.

Hi good day, quick question. do you have a setting or module I can use to show the suggested items on woocommerce to be based of the subcategory?

I am using the theme for a clothing store, So when someone goes on a product it shows no related items in terms of categories. So jus because it is in women main category doesn’t men I want it to be shown for shoes. So is their a way to show lets say women shoes item when a customer selects women’s shows it shows them automatically all the subcategories there.

I know I can use upsell but I don’t want to go to every product and put this in the settings.

You can use the upsell products element. If you’d prefer not to add this element to each individual product page, you’ll need to use a Custom Layout.

To do this, go to Porto > Template Builder > Single Product, create a new layout, and add the linked product element. Then, choose “upsell” products and save your changes. Afterward, you can apply the layout to specific categories or products by setting conditions.

I’m currently using your powerful Porto theme for WooCommerce and I’m very satisfied with it. However, I have a specific requirement that I haven’t been able to implement successfully.

I need to display product images in a perfect square format on my single product pages, even when the original images have different aspect ratios.

I’ve already tried changing the settings in APPEARANCE > CUSTOMIZE > WOOCOMMERCE > Product Images (set to 1:1 / 1080×1080) and I’ve also regenerated thumbnails, but the images still aren’t displaying as perfect squares on the single product pages.

Could you please advise on the correct way to achieve square image display on single product pages while maintaining image quality?

The settings under APPEARANCE > CUSTOMIZE > WOOCOMMERCE > Product Images work as follows:

  • 1080×1080: This setting controls the image quality, not the size.
  • 1:1: This refers to the aspect ratio of the product images on the shop/category pages.

The aspect ratio for the Single Product Image is determined by the layout you choose. The image will adjust to fit the container size. If you’re using a Custom Layout for the single product page, go to Porto > Template Builder > Single Product and edit the custom layout there. When importing the demo, you have two options: Elementor or WP Bakery. If you’d like the demo to be imported with Elementor, simply select Elementor, and the demo will be imported with Elementor, allowing you to edit it easily.

Our theme is fully compatible with WPML, Polylang, and Loco. While we haven’t officially tested the TranslatePress plugin with our theme, many of our customers use it without issues, so you can also try it on your site.

Please edit the post grid archive in the Gutenberg Editor or in the editor that you are using for the site, and then edit the read more button and change the text.

Otherwise, it is coming from the theme translation files. Also, the Related posts are coming from the translation files.

I didn’t use the grid for the article template. I fixed it by going directly into the PHP file to replace the English text with French. But when I update the theme it will disappear. Why does loco translate tell me that the text is translated correctly when it isn’t?

There is no need to edit or make the translation from the theme’s PHP files, it will not a good idea to do that.
