Would it be possible to replace any of the shortcode icons to my own?

The shortcode icons are being generated from http://fortawesome.github.io/Font-Awesome/
Unfortunately, adding new ones would require editing many files.
Urgent help! how do I install the dummy data? it doesn’t explain how in the documentation and when I goto Tools > Import > I tried using wordpress format but it didn’t work and the page goes blank in the middle and never imports the data! please help what is wrong!

The dummy data included with the theme should import without hiccups. From what you described, you are taking the correct steps so I don’t see what the problem would be except for a server related issue. How about you PM me and we can work through this via email

1. Is ist possible on the single portfolio page to ad some content (working with shortcodes) underneath the portfolio image/slider? Would be great to have this in a future update.
2. How can I ad more than 6 slides in the portfolio section?
3. Is ist possible to adjust the homepage-slider to the content width? Not full-size.

1.This feature has been requested by others, and I really would like to add it in but the main roadblock I have with it is the transition for existing theme users. The right way to do it would require changing fields around and that would require users who already have data up to reenter it. I am still exploring ways to work around this and make everyone happy
2. Currently that is the hard cap on images and would require custom development to alter.
3. Because of the parallax nature of the slider, I had to sacrifice background-size: cover in order to accommodate cross browser compatibility.

Unfortunately, because I designed the theme to count on the use of the header resize on scroll, allowing an option for centering the header with the logo stacked on top of the nav would require extensive development. All of the calculations would need to change, and there’s a lot of them at the moment!

When creating/editing any page or post, there should be an extra icon on the text editor that just says “N”. Do you see that?

1. Those text items are being added to the options panel in the upcoming release, so you will have full control over the output
2. You would have to use CSS to set a background image if you want a custom icon.

Currently it is not possible to add a video to the home slider. I would recommend simply creating a slide advertising whatever video you want featured, and having the button link to the page that the video is located on.

You need to make sure you are uploading salient.zip which is contained inside of the .zip ThemeForest gives you to download. Don’t try and upload themeforest-4363266-salient-responsive-portfolio-blog-theme.zip, instead open that up on your desktop and extract the salient.zip. Now try uploading that

Just a quick question, How would I make the drop-down menu just dropping from the main parent page. I don’t like it to be dropping from the top white menu bar… Can you help?

If you don’t want your dropdowns to appear, simply don’t add them in the custom menu. The pages will still exist, they just would be in the top menu and you can link to them in any other way you want

Hi again, thanks for the great support so far. I’m experiencing some errors with the characters åöä in headers. I’ve activated latin characters in the settings according to the instructions but the characters åöä are displayed in a different font that the rest of the header – it looks very strange. It also seems to vary from browser to browser, it’s most apparent in Firefox where the special characters are displayed in a serif font right in the middle of an arial header. You have indicated that you have selected the option for including the extended Latin characters, but have you also selected the fonts for all the sections? If you only select the option for Latin chars, nothing will really happen. That option only applies for each font selected in the dropdowns.
Hi, thanks – that partially solves the problem. However, the characters åöä are still formatted incorrectly in blockquotes. Also, what is the font used by default? Is it possible to use the same font with the latin characters?
The blockquote not being affected by your custom fonts is an error and will be addressed in the upcoming update.
If you would like to simply use all the default fonts but with your characters you could download the webfont kit from here http://www.fontsquirrel.com/fonts/open-sans
and choose your specific language subset. Then replace all the fonts in the css > fonts folder with your newly downloaded ones
Great! Looking forward to the next release. Also, the titles in the home slider don’t seem to be affected by the latin characters and are formatted incorrectly.

We’re trying to also change the size of a background image we placed on the header. You can see it at http://markandphil.staging.wpengine.com/.
We’ve tried editing the init.js file to do this and tried changing in a couple of spots to: $(’#header-outer’).stop(true,true).animate({ ‘padding-top’ : 19, ‘background-position-x’: ‘10%’, ‘background-position-y’: ‘20%’ },{queue:false, duration:450, easing: ‘easeOutExpo’});
but this doesn’t seem to work. Any ideas on how to make this happen? Essentially we want the background image to go up and to the left a little bit so it looks like the line also moves over diagonally from the right.

Hi. Went ahead and purchased the theme. it’s great. I have a few questions though.
1.How to i remove the ‘View all work’ link on the portfolio? I just want it to say ’ Latest Work’.
2. Also how to i remove the ‘View Larger’ and make the ‘More Details’ central when you hover over a portfolio item? I don’t want it to open a large image…just to go to the project detail page.
3. Is there no Twitter widget? I read an answer earlier where you mentioned shortcodes for this but I can’t see one?

1. The ability to define that label and others is being added in the next update.
2. Add this into your Custom CSS box in the theme options panel:
.portfolio-items .col .work-item .work-info a.pp { display: none; }
3. There is no Twitter widget included in our shortcodes. I believe what I was saying in the instance your referring to was that you can look through all of our shortcodes in our theme demo page to see what is included.

2. I have doubled checked that the snippet works locally, did you make sure you saved your changes after entering that in? If so, can I please see the link to your page so I can verify that the css is getting applied?

4. It’s not the gap between the columns. It’s the gap between the rows. So I have 4 images using 1/4’s and then another 4 below using 1/4’s and it’s the gap between the two rows of 4 that i just wanted to make smaller so they are a bit more compact. If that makes sense? I can email you a screenshot if not or login details…as I can’t post the URL here.

1. The code didn’t remove the heart. I went to Sallient < General Settings scrolled down to the custom css area, entered the code above and there was no effect. Did I do it in the wrong place? I don’t see anything that says “Theme Options” word for word.
2. I took off the carousel (code) and the meet our team section then showed in columns of 2 instead of 3 like before.
1. did you make sure you saved your changes on the Custom CSS? Also, could you please supply me with a link so I can ensure that the css is being applied on the page? (I tested the snippet before I posted it, so I know it should do the trick)
2. When you are using columns, you must check the attribute “Last Column” when you are adding the last column in a row. It’s what finishes the row and allows it to be flush against the edge. If you fail to do this, you will see the row break. Since you already have your columns in place and don’t need to use the shortcode generator, you should just change your third columns shortcode to be
[one_third_last] [/one_third_last]instead of
[one_third] [/one_third]

- You could just try clearing your browsers cache or checking it on a different browser
- Go to your downloads section and you should see starts next to the theme you can click

I misunderstood what you meant initially. I thought you were saying that the font just wasn’t working with those characters. Now I see what you’re really talking about.
What’s happening is the class being applied to the actual items doesn’t have the extended characters but the filter link does. Thus there is no connection being made between the two. I will add this bug into the queue to be handled in the next update, thanks for pointing this out and sorry for the inconvenience
