The user guide is located directly inside your download folder, it is named “salient-user-guide”.
You can also find the same pdf embedded into your theme options panel when switching to the “Theme Information” tab

Right now there is only built in options for the social icons at the bottom where you see them in the demo.
With gallery posts, default settings only allow six images to go into the slider. Is there a way to increase this number? Also, is there a way to show captions on this content? Thanks! C

In the next update, which will support WordPress 3.6, it will be possible to add unlimited images to a gallery. Also, you can stack unlimited images now by activating the “Extra Content Editor” in your portfolio options and stacking them like a blog post. This can be seen in action here. Right now the only way to add captions would be to use the built in WordPress caption for each image that will appear when you embed images into the editor.
Hey There! I want to ask you if there is a way to make a page with the header image to be the defalut wordpress blog. I tried to make a blank page with the default model and added it to be the blog feed. I tried to add the header image but it does not appear. That would be awesome to have this feature as I’d like the blog page to be even more beautiful. Thanks!

Hi, thank you for this awesome template! I have an issue: when play a video in the Home Slider, the slider continue to go forward, to stop it you need to click the arrows before play a video. can you help me pls?

As of the current version, the slider will only stop transitioning when clicking play on the built-in player for self hosted videos. This is because it is only possible to binds events to elements when they exist within the site, and not in an iframe. I will see if there’s a workaround for video embeds and will try to include a fix for that if it’s possible in the next release

Absolutely loving this theme – busy with a demo for client at the moment – http://designingcapetown.co.za/troy/ but for some reason, if you click on the first video in the first home page slide and press play, it starts playing, but then automatically switches to the next slide. I do have it set to autoplay – but is there not a way that I can still have it on autoplay, but if someone clicks play on the video the slide will pause on that slide?

The call to action section is generated in the footer.php file. You can add some custom markup in there if you fiddle with it, but no, there isn’t a built-in option to have them there.

If you don’t know how to use WordPress at all, you might just want to either do some research on your own/watch some tutorials or simply wait for the HTML version. I can help with troubleshooting issues you might have with the theme, but I can’t explain how to use WordPress as well, since I assume you will need a good deal of help.

I love your theme a lot, I was wondering why the rating is so high, now I know, it is honestly the most user friendly theme I’ve ever used!
I got two questions on the portfolio page:
1. Can I have more than one portfolio page? I’m a illustrator, I want to have one portfolio page for digital works, and one for freehand works, is this possible?
2. On the portfolio item page, at the moment, if I put in more than one image, it shows as a slide. Can I add in another separate image under it and not as part of the slide?

2. Yes, just activate the “Extra Content Editor” in your portfolio options in the Salient options panel. This will unlock a second editor for the Portfolio post type which you can stack whatever content you like in!

Hi, I still got some problems with it. I changed the php files, now the new template files are working, excluding portfolio categories are working, but I got no images on the new pages (with the new portfolio templates)
Here’s the link for a test page, it should look like the digital page with images http://www.cavemanstudio.co.nz/wordpress/contemporary-artThe script on your page is broken, ( the Javascript at the top of the page) make sure it matches the portfolio one exactly. You can check your browsers console when loading the page to also see the Javascript error.
Sorry, I’m really lost. So what I’ve done is I copied and pasted the portfolio php file, gave it a new name, put in the exclude categories code, but I couldn’t choose this new php file as a template in wordpress page attributes, so I changed the template name at the top of the file to /*template name: Contemporary Art */
Now, because i changed the template name, the images are not showing, but if i change it back to portfolio, i can’t choose the template.
Can you please tell me what I’ve done wrong?

You were correct to name your new template something different such as Contemporary Art. That shouldn’t create any issues. The issue I see on your page is just a JavaScript error. See it here: http://i.imgur.com/LxXMoih.jpg
It appears somehow you malformed the script at the top of your new template. I would suggest trying to recopy and paste the page-portfolio.php template again to fix the error.

One last question 
Can I use this method to add in more than 2 portfolio templates? My digital and contemporary pages are working now, but I tried to put in a traditional art page, somehow using the same method, it’s not working properly.
I can choose the traditional template, but all the images are missing, and i got no error on firebug. Maybe I’ve done something wrong…?

Yes, this method could be used an infinite number of times. Double check that you have followed the exact same procedure with correct query category names/spelling.

Hi,
i guess there is a small problem with the “Recent Posts Extra” Widget and IE 10. I use the widget in the sidebar of a page. The images are shown in the original size of 1040x instead of only thumbs.

Hey, the demo show a sidebar widget with recent work – not Posts Extra (with post image, headline and post date).
Right, weird I still don’t see any sizing issues with that widget. I’ll try to investigate it more.
I bought that wonderful theme and can’t upload an image, or either load one of the nectar shortcodes. I did delete everything and reinstall and tried everything that came to my mind. I spent the only 3 hours a day I have apart from my job. So I am now near nervous breakdown.

I’m sorry to hear you’ve had issues, you should have posted here or on the support forum sooner!
1. Are you on WordPress 3.5? Usually that’s the only cause of the upload button not working.
2. If you can’t access your shortcode generator (blank white window) You need to CHMOD the permissions of that file (nectar/tinymce/shortcode_generator/shortcode-generator.php) to 755.
If you can’t resolve these issues please post a private ticket in the support forum ASAP and I’ll help you out.

Will you be making the Shortcodes button available in ‘Text’ mode anytime soon? I work only in ‘Text’ mode, so I need to keep a second tab open with another page in order to get access to the Shortcodes, and then I copy/paste them back to my other tab. It’s an easy workaround, but inconvenient.
Since most Shortcodes act fussy in ‘Visual’ mode, it’s odd to me that you wouldn’t display the button in ‘Text’ mode where most users would be working when dealing with code of any sort. Unless I’m missing something.
Other than that, really enjoying this theme. Nice work guys!

Adding a button to that toolbar is actually done in a different process than regularly adding buttons to the editor. I suppose it might get added in a future update, but you’re the first to bring it up.
Instead of having multiple windows open, why not just simple switch between the visual and text tabs as needed?
Well, unfortunately Wordpress tries to get fancy when you switch from Text to Visual, and wraps all my code in P tags and all sorts of other super annoying auto-formatting. Even with a plugin to prevent auto P tags, it stills buggers up all my shortcode when switching back and forth.
For example, if I use your [divider] tag in Visual, then switch to Text mode, it’s wrapped it in a P tag, causing additional spacing in the final view, then in my Text-mode code it’s a mess. I do a lot of custom alignment and styling and essentially any time you switch to Visual, it auto formats and wrecks it all so I avoid it like the plague.
For this reason, I need to pick an editor mode and stick to it.
Gotcha, I guess it wasn’t an issue when I was setting up the layouts because I would add most of my shortcodes at once and then fine tune everything in the text tab if needed. As I said before, I’ll note this as a possible addition.

First of all, I want to thank you for making such a fantastic job with this theme.
I have a question for you. I created a custom tag system for portfolio’s items (using the Wordpress tags functions). They appear in the portfolio’s item details page. When I click on the tag, it opens a list containing every portfolio items containing this tag.
This list is loaded using a template file I created, named archive.php, which is a copy of page-portfolio.php. Everything is fine except two problems I have :
- I’m unable to load the header (col span_12 section-title) as in the portfolio page. - All my items appears in one row and disapear when I reduce the width of my browser’s window.
Do you have any clues about those problems?

Sorry, but this might be a very stupid question.
However I am trying to set up a simular set up as in your example. So i got the slider and three columns below with icons, heading and then paragraph of text.
So I put this in the home page I have created, first I was trying just to use the WYSIWYG and shortcode editor. The code I got was not the prettiest, but I dont think that is your fault. But then I wanted to add a heading for each of the columns. In the WYSIWYG editor there is no heading selection in the styling bar. So I hand coded it and of course works.
But my end user is not gonna use html tags. How can I solve this?

I would recommend that you import the included xml dummy data file so that you can have the exact setup used in the demo and then go about modifying as needed. This way you can see all of the shortcode setups and learn from them. Go to Tools > Import, select WordPress and browse for the file.

I have setup the exact sample and am looking at the “home” page. I see the way it is set up. But the h3 you use there, where did that come from? I guess you had to use the text view in the editor and hand code the h3 tag, right? I cant expect my end user to put in the html tags.
By the way, I really like your template.

1. All of the shortcodes are listed in the user guide and through the visual shortcode generator on your editor.
2. You just need to show the “Kitchen Sink” on the editor (it’s the button next to the Salient shortcode generator). That will show more options and one of them is for headings

salient theme option, the modifications don’t appear anymore. Is there a code snippet other than the import of the salient’s style sheet that I should include that will permit me to still use your function panel in WP or should I manually overwrite the css in my child’s style sheet?

Have you also created a CSS folder in your child theme and brought over the
- colors.css.php
- fonts.css.php
- custom.css.php
files like the user guide directs?

You just have to download a fresh copy from ThemeForest, delete the old and upload the new. All of your data will remain intact
