Salient v1.5 is now live!
The update has been submitted to ThemeForest and will be ready for you guys to get your hands on in the near future! There’s a bunch of changes & fixes to look out for, some notable ones being:
- WordPress 3.6 compatibility
- 54 new icons

Does anyone know how to change the comments link? If you use Disqus or Livefyre, or any sort of third-party comments, the posts comments link doesn’t work.

This is known glitch (iframes clipping in the sidebar area) and has been fixed in Salient v1.5. It should be available for you to download on ThemeForest within a day!

It’s a pleasure to work with your theme. A couple of questions though:
1) I can’t figure out how to add an accordion. I see a shortcode for toggle but not for the accordion.
2) How can pass a parameter with shortcode to expand toggle on page load. I need a 1st toggle to be expanded by default.

1. There actually is no accordion shortcode, only toggles.

I have searched high and low but can’t find – how do I set the blog page? I tried creating a page and changing the default template for it, that only gave me a 404 error for Home-Recent Posts Template. When I did Recent posts/slider it had the huge front slider and was unable to disable. Please help

Have you searched in the “Home & Blog Setup” section in the user guide? 
What you need to do is assign your blog page as the posts page in Settings > Reading. There’s no page template needed, just leave the default selected.
That’s what I’m saying. I can’t find the user guide anywhere AND in that menu it doesn’t have a posts page to choose as a setting. Only sample page and my created pages.
User guide is not in my download folder and I can’t find it online.
If the user guide is only telling me to go to settings > reading then it won’t help anyways bc when I go to set the blog page there is no choice in the drop down to select posts.

The user guide should be included in the root of your download folder..I’ve never heard a case where it was legitimately missing. It’s also embedded directly into your theme in the options panel in the “Theme Information” tab.

You need to supply both formats for your videos in order to ensure cross browser compatibility.
Does it have to be OGV format? it’s so bad quality?
Yes, but in the next release of the theme which includes WP 3.6 compatibility, there’s a flash fallback player so you can get away with only using .m4v’s
Ok, thanks, finally found a good way to convert to OGV as well but… here’s our new problem, hehe, where do we add the Portefolio Gallery? And is it possible to have seperate galleries for seperate photographers?

All you have to do is upload images to the boxes under your featured image to fill out the slides. As long as there’s one of the slides filled out under the featured image, the project will automatically become a gallery on the more details page.

www.slaughterhouse.no (we havent updated to the newest version, because we released the site today, and we dont want to configure everything manually again.) Is there anyway to update just the player?
You can’t just update the video player because the new player is built in to the WP 3.6 core and no longer a separate aspect of the theme.
It looks like a lot of your m4v files are throwing errors which is most likely breaking the player: http://i.imgur.com/9Bm7YHd.jpg
I would ask that you move this to the support forum at this point, to not flood the comments by us going back and forth.

Beautiful, wonderful, gorgeous theme, but I can’t use the shortcode generator. I was able to on my self-hosted server (using mamp) but when I went live I could not.
I followed all the suggestions you posted on your FAQs page: I disabled all my plugins, deleted the shortcode-generator.php file, cleared my cache, reuploaded the file, changed its permissions to 755, and cleared the cache again…but none of that worked.
The only difference after doing all that is that now the pop-up window for the shortcode generator actually appears, but it’s totally blank (before the entire page just went blank). I created an admin account for you, in hopes that you could poke around. Credentials have been emailed.
I know you guys are super busy, and I can be patient, just take a look as soon as you can. Thanks!

Hi. Great looking theme. Im just wondering how flexible the theme is. Can you for example build your own templates and use the image slider, like on the homepage, for a sub page like a portfolio page and then set that as a template?

It’s very flexible in the sense that you can create your own layouts however you want using our shortcode system and you have a ton of power over fundamental aspects with the options panel. However, as of now you can only use that parallax slider on one page. It wasn’t built to be placed with multiple instances.

UA-41255595-1When you need to paste in the entire script google gives you. It should be much longer and contain
<script></script>tags. Make sure you are pasting in that whole code

Thanks for this wonderful theme! I have a question. I just uploaded a custom logo. But now, when I scale my browser window, it jumps into a small, unreadable dimension. Same on my iphone. You can check it out on www.beeldt.com.

Have you assigned that new page template to your category pages for mash & pellet/crumble?
You need give it a new name at the top of the file where it says
/*template name: Portfolio */and then you will be able to select it in your page attributes.

Hi, I have purchased your theme a few days ago and I love it!
However I have an issue with extended content in portfolio. I can’t format it, it ignores new paragraphs and collapses all the text into one.
Is this a common problem or happens only to me?
I’d really love to use external content in an extended way, please let me know about this issue!

The extended editor is setup to function the same as all of the other editors in WP, it shouldn’t smash your content into one line. Would you mind opening a private ticket regarding this on the support forum with a URL to the page in question and your admin credentials.

Hey guys, how do I control what thumbnail is used when I post a link to my Salient site on Facebook. I am getting an option for 2 thumbnail images on FB but neither are what I desire.
