Thanks for the best theme I’ve ever used! Truly amazing on the front and the back!
You’re very welcome Max!
Hello,
I cannot find the page Home Extended in the sample data. I love some of the features in that page that I would like to recreate. Can you kindly direct me so I can see the codes of the extended home page?
Thank you.
Hey vitizo!
If you’ve imported the sample data from the most recent version of the theme you should have both the pages home – extended and home – basic in your content. Are you sure you’ve imported the latest dummy data file?
Hi ThemeNectar!
Thank you for the fabulous Salient – for some reason, after updating, my site is no longer acting ‘responsive’ – granted, this is on desktop.
Thank you for your help!
// John S
Hey John!
You just need to activate the responsive design option in your theme options panel (it became an active option a few versions ago).
It’s located in the general settings tab
Cheers!
There is a shortcode for displaying most recent posts… i need to show posts from a specific category on a page. Is there any way to do that?
There is a shortcode for displaying recent posts, but you can’t choose the category as of now. Perhaps an option for that will get added in a future release
noticed something that didnt look right in the styles.css:
.porject-additional {
margin-left: 0px!important;
color: #999999;
font-size: 11px;
margin-top: 6px;
margin-bottom: 0px!important;
}
.porject-additional li {
list-style: none!important;
}
and later down the page..
.porject-additional.clear {
clear: both!important;
display: block;
}
.porject-additional.clear li {
float: none!important;
}
Got a feeling it should be “project” not “porject”.. let me know and i’ll change it while im here.
Cheers
Andy
Hey Andy, thanks for pointing that out!
Yes, it is a typo; one that unfortunately got copied and pasted in those multiple locations you’ve referenced. I’ll take care of it in the upcoming update so you don’t have to change it now if you don’‘t want
I can’t really see how i’m going to be able to update the theme since there’s around 2700 lines of css added in and around various files.. although i usually bung it at the bottom so i can paste it back in.. Any chance next update you can list which bits in the css files have been changed? then i can adjust the lines that have changed..
let me know your suggestion
Cheers bud
Yes, I always post the line differences in the changelog when I release an update for those who need to manually apply the changes
great news, thanks for letting me know
No problem!
Bug Report:
After I embed a youtube into one of the home slider item, you will find that part of the youtube preview will freeze and broken, that piece of broken will then bring and appear into another slide forever.
Hey alexaneraw!
Please supply me with a URL so I can check that out real quick..As the theme mentions, iframe video embeds work worse than self hosted ones because they’re much harder to control so it’s recommended you go the self-hosted route if possible. However, what your describing shouldn’t happen under normal circumstances so that’s why I want to see it
Thanks!
I was wondering if there was a way to use the video player skin from the blog post, on pages?
I have some videos on pages that I would really love to have the video player style from the blog on. Is that possible?
Im comfortable with more advanced code if thats required.
Hey Themeish!
As long as you’re running a semi recent version of the theme, there are actually shortcodes to insert video/audio players anywhere you please!
oh nice. must have missed that
Oh, I see. This is for uploaded videos only. Not you tube.
You can place embeds just like you would in any theme or website for that matter, there doesn’t need to be a shortcode. Just paste the embed code where ever you want it in the text tab on your editor
Love the paralleling. interaction and visuals are wonderful except one part. thats the top navigation. Its distracting seeing the top navigation retract and expand upon scroll. How can we make this stationary?
Hey MobileDesign, I’m glad you did the theme!
There’s actually a built-in option to disable that effect if you would prefer it off
Is v1.6 available for update yet? For some reason my wordpress says no update is available.
Love the theme. Thanks! Drew
Yes, it’s been released for a few days now. The WordPress dashboard will never know what the latest version is, for that you must keep up to date with my changelog and the update emails that automatically get sent to you every time there’s an update
Bug: When i use the default button in the footer widget the text becomes the same color as the button on hover so its not visible… Everywhere else it stays white..
http://reachabledev.com/ Widget 1 footerHey Dean!
Thanks for mentioning this, I’ve already taken care of it and a fix will be included in the upcoming release
Hello
I have some questions about the theme: 1- Does it need a child theme? 2- How easy is the updating process (I have very basic WP knowledge) 3- Is it possible to add a gallery like this one? (or similar, that opens on the same page) http://themes.thunderbuddies4life.com/?theme=glisseo_wp
Thanks!
Hey anafotos!
1. You don’t need to use a child theme, but the it supports them if you would prefer to make your customizations in that.
2. You can update by downloading a fresh copy from ThemeForest, deleting the current version you have on your server and uploading the new.
3. That would require some custom development, as it’s not a default feature.
Cheers
hi there,
I dont seem to have a Gallery Slider option in my Project Configuration options in Portfolio items—just the custom thumbnail image option. Where’s it hiding?
Also, if on a default template page (such as my About page), I want to include a gallery slider, how do I go about this?
thx ac
Hey ac, thanks for purchasing the theme!
1. As the video tutorial states, “*A note on creating galleries The instructions seen in this video regarding slider gallery creation only apply when using WordPress 3.6. If you wish to create a slider gallery in prior versions, it can be done using multiple featured images. You should see 6 boxes for them on the right hand side :)”
2. When WP 3.6 is finally released, you will be able to place gallery sliders where ever you please, but for now you can only use them in the portfolio and blog sections.
hello again! I’ve got wp 3.6 now, and i’m able to place a gallery slider in my portfolios, but i don’t see the option on my pages. where is it? thanks a lot =)
Hey anagcan! Have you read this yet: http://themenectar.ticksy.com/ticket/59452/
It should contain all the info you need
thx! but i still don’t see how to add the slider gallery to a regular ol’ page. the option just isn’t there (as it is on the portfolios). am i missing something?
There isn’t a gallery option for standard pages yet – but sit tight a couple of days and you’ll get a new slider for pages in Salient 2.0
Hello, Does this theme support/provide shortcodes to place latest posts easily on a page?
Thank you, Steven
Hey Steven!
There is indeed a latest posts shortcode. It will automatically place your 4 latest posts.
Hello! How to make the home page like in the live preview?
Hey KUZNETSOFFAND!
If you would easily like to get the same look as the demo, simply import the included dummy data file. There’s a tutorial on importing that here or if you like to make the layout yourself, you can check out this tutorial on recreating the layout from scratch.
Cheers
Hello ThemeNectar,
Well done for producing a terrific theme. Small question, is there any way of assigning different colors (or accent colors) to different bar graphs. For example if I had 4 bar graphs on a page representing different skills, could I assign b1 as red, b2 as blue, b3 as green and b4 as yellow?
Thanks for your time and keep up the brilliant work.
cheers
Chris
Hey Chris!
You’re not the first buyer to ask me if that’s possible – so I guess I better start to consider adding it in as a feature
—
As of now it’s not possible, but keep your fingers crossed
Thanks ThemeNectar for getting back to me, I shall indeed keep my fingers crossed on this.
No problem!
Cheers
Absolutely excellent! Thank you ThemeNectar
Thanks a lot metin-yilmaz!
Cheers
Hi ThemeNectar,
I bought the Salient-Theme. Is it possible to take an other Picture instead of Font Awesome?
Sorry for my bad English
Thanks
René
Hey René!
If you would like to use your own icons it would be easiest to just use an image without going through the icon shortcode at all – you will lose the hover effect, but adding your own image into that same icon shortcode structure would actually require a fair amount of modification.
I never do this, but I gotta give you my testimonial.
This is the first time I bought a theme from themeforest and not feeling any regret whatsoever!
This theme have so much to offer. PLEASE keep up the good work and good support. I’ve rated this 5 star and a pleasure to do it!
I kinda took a gamble here, given that this is your first ever theme here. Don’t be like other author please, we your end users needs Quality not Quantity.
Best of luck Nectar! I’m gonna gone ahead to your forum now, to bug you even more, as I have some suggestions and/or minor customization on it
Best,
-MD www.itsthelifeline.com
Hey MD!
Thank you so much for taking the time to write that, it made me very happy to read!
Cheers
Hey you, great to read all your support, full time job doing that alone so respek for keeping up with the masses
Just quickie, stuck trying to modify the bit where the menu squishes up a little as i scroll down the page.. Where’s all that handled? I need to make it squish up a little more as I’ve increased the logo & padding size slightly…
Please give me the file and the attribute to search for as i’ve added around 1,500 lines of extra code throughout many of the backend php and css pages so line numbers prob not gonna match up
Thanks for your efforts dude
Cheers
Andy
Hey Andy, thanks a lot! I really am doing my best
Here’s the section to search for inside of the init.js file (located in the js folder)
function smallNav(){
var $offset = $(window).scrollTop();
var $windowWidth = $(window).width();
var shrinkNum = 6;
if (logoHeight >= 40 && logoHeight < 60) shrinkNum = 8;
else if (logoHeight >= 60 && logoHeight < 80) shrinkNum = 10;
else if (logoHeight >= 80 ) shrinkNum = 14;
Simply change the values for shrinkNum in the bottom conditional to be what you desire.
working like a babe
cheers my dears
...although i do notice if you over-cook it – (shrinkNum=45 is where i need it) then on the homepage with slider, it leaves a nasty great fat black line at the top above the parralax slider (since i guess the slider image is moving up at only x fraction of the scroll speed so on the first ‘click’ over the mouse scroller wheel it doesnt shift the top image up enough to mask itself under the menu if you know what i mean..
let me know if you got any quick fix for that (adding margin value somewhere or something?).. fine on the other pages, just the parralax scroller on homepage seems to be the prob..
Cheers
Andy
Hey Andy, yes you’re pretty much correct about why that bar has appeared. However instead of moving the image faster as you scroll, we can just set the negative margin more for it to compensate so when if you scrolled down only 10px for example you still wouldn’t see the bar.
in the init.js file located these two sections:
This sets the top position we need to adjust on scroll
$(window).scroll(function(){
if(!$('body').hasClass('mobile')){
controlsAndInfoPos();
$('body:not(.mobile) .orbit-wrapper #featured .slide:not(:transparent) article').css({'top': ((- $scrollTop / 5)+logoHeight+headerPadding2+headerResizeOffExtra+extraHeight-extraDef) + 'px' });
}
});
and this is the initial position before scrolling
//inital load
function sliderAfterSetup(){
//webkit video fix
$('#featured .mejs-container').css('width',$('#featured .video').width());
$('#featured .mejs-container').css('height',$('#featured .video').width()/1.7777);
$(window).trigger('resize');
$('body:not(.mobile) .orbit-wrapper #featured .orbit-slide:not(".has-video") article .container').css('top', $captionPos +"px");
$('body:not(.mobile) .orbit-wrapper #featured .orbit-slide.has-video article .container').css('top', $videoHeight +"px");
$('body:not(.mobile) .orbit-wrapper .slider-nav > span').css('top', $controlsPos +"px");
$('body:not(.mobile) .orbit-wrapper #featured .slide article').css({'top': ((- $scrollTop / 5)+logoHeight+headerPadding2+headerResizeOffExtra+extraHeight-extraDef) + 'px' });
You’ll be modifying the same line in those two sections:
$('body:not(.mobile) .orbit-wrapper #featured .slide article').css({'top': ((- $scrollTop / 5)+logoHeight+headerPadding2+headerResizeOffExtra+extraHeight-extraDef) + 'px' });
simply add another number on the end right after the “extraDef” to alter the final position e.g. “-25”
Hiya, thanks for looking into it for me.. although i’ve tried what you’ve suggested but when you scroll back up again, you end up with the black line at the bottom of the slider instead of the top.. is there somewhere i can add an extra 15px to the bottom to make up for the -15px i’ve taken off the top?
thanks for your help on this, much appreciated
cheers
Andy
Andy, the last step would be to increase the negative margin on the slider itself.
Add this to your custom css box and play with the margin until it’s perfect for your case:
body #featured {
margin-top: -90px!important;
}
Thanks for getting me on the right track, although had to change several other bits too in the responsive.css file to compensate and also adjust for the bottom as well as the top… got it sussed though and working great, thanks vely vely muchos
Cheers
Andy
Great!
Hey ThemeNectar,
Thanks for a killer design…I can’t say enough good things about it or how you’ve made my life easier with this theme.
I have one problem I can’t seem to fix. The icons seem jagged/pixelated. Is there any way to remedy this? I’m following a similar home page format to your live preview and I’m using the 4 icons with small entries beneath.
Thanks in advance!
Ken
Hey Ken!
Webkit browsers (chrome & safari) can sometimes not display fonts as crisp as they should be. There’s a few css hacks to attempt to anti-alias them, but I haven’t had success using any of those with font awesome yet unfortunately. Here’s a resource on the topic that you’re more then welcome to experiment with: https://gist.github.com/dalethedeveloper/1846552
No prob! Thanks for the prompt reply and keep up the good work.
You’re welcome!
