AMAZING theme!! AMAZING support! Video tutorials, excellent response time on Support Forum, and a truly spectacular theme with endless options! PERFECT!
Thank you so much for your kind words kubinska! You’re the best
Hello,
1) How do you change the image in the header on the “About Me” page?
2) Am I able to turn off comments on the portfolio pages?
3) Does my logo have to be a certain dimension?
Thank you!
Hey nikolasjanik!
1. You can edit all page header images in the “Page Header Settings” box in the bottom portion of your edit page screen.
2. Yes, you actually have a checkbox on each portfolio item to toggle comments.
3. No, you can upload a logo at any size
Cheers
Thank you very much. I appreciate your fast response.
You’re very welcome!
Is it possible to add a full width google map to the parallax?
Hey iamjustoneman,
As of now it’s not because the full width parallax sections will only parallax on a bg image, not an entire section of content. Maybe i’ll extend this in a future update
Hi,
The theme looks great, I just have a couple of questions:
1. What does it mean that the theme is not ‘high-resolution’?
2. Is the source-code well commented?
3. The live-preview takes a while to load. Is it because it’s image-heavy?
4. Can you speak to how you optimized the theme to load quickly? I’ll probably won’t use large images – will I then be able to avoid the ‘spinning dots’ (that are shown while the website is loading)?
5. If I disable some elements in the theme settings – will the website load faster, or do I need to comment-out those parts directly in the HTML (ex. to prevent the JS from loading)?
Thank you!
Hey itmaor!
1. The theme is going to display perfect on high resolution displays now that it’s retina ready, and it’s also responsive so don’t get the wrong impression – I simply initially checked that it wasn’t high res only because I am not including high res PSD’s.
2. Yes, I strived for clean code and commented whenever possible.
3. It shouldn’t take long to load, that’s strange. I get a full home page load without cache within 2-3 seconds. You’re probably just far away from my server’s location (I’ve been looking into a cdn to help with situations like this)
4/5. The theme will load faster when you have it yourself, as I mentioned it’s mostly just a location thing that’s causing you to have a longer load time. There’s not a lot to load honestly, but you can use plugins like W3 Total cache to cache and minify the assets to increase performance if you want.
Hello, I’ve been enjoying using this theme so far, by the way, some minor problems, must be due to my lack of coding knowledge.
I have mixture of horizontal and vertical images that I uploaded on my portfolio page. Dimensions are:
Horizontal: 1024×768 px Vertical: 1024×1365 px
I created all images to be 1024px width consistent in order to make them nicely aligned vertically while scrolling down the page. However, when I view post, those vertical images are all shrank down. I see unwanted white gap in between vertical images and sidebar text. It seems like image container for vertical uploads are initially fixed as ‘max = 1024px, height’ or something like that. But I cannot find where to fix that. I need to get all vertical images, as 1024×1365px dimension to match width of other horizontal images.
I double-checked all settings on the theme menu, they are all fine. I was striving to figure out in css stylesheet. Which code should I add/change in css stylesheet in which row?
Hey YHC!
can I see your link to the page where you’re experience this issue so I can double check it before attempting to supply a quick-fix for you?
Thanks
Sure, there are 2 pages in portfolio which contains vertical images got shank down. The first link, I just made the vertical one centre aligned. But it still looks distracting.
Thanks for the link!
As I expected, you are on an earlier version where there was a bug to only allow the max height of an image to be the screen height. I have taken care of this in later versions so I would recommend updating as soon as you can
Ah, I see. Hope that come soon. Thanks anyways
The fix for that is already out you don’t have to wait at all, just download the theme again from ThemeForest and you’ll have the latest version containing the fix and many other cool new features
amazing theme! i have been putting off purchasing a theme for my website but you convinced me when you added the new shop feature.
i’m looking forward for the boxed option update in the future as well.
just a quick noob question though, if i purchase now will i have access to future updates?
Hey sugaroverkill, that’s great to hear!
Yes, you will have access to unlimited future updates
Cheers
Great! I already made my purchase!
Just wanted to let you know that I chose your theme because of your regular updates, great tutorials, and superb customer support.
Keep up the awesome work!
Thank you very much for the purchase! I most certainly will continue forward with all of those things
Cheers
Hi! Very nice theme, very easy to use!
One question: How can I set up the blog / category view width the header like here: http://themenectar.com/demo/salient/blog/blog-masonry-fullwidth/
Thanks, Tanja
Hey Tanja!
There’s a box on the bottom of your page edit/creating screen that’s titled “Page Header Settings”. You can configure your header there – just configure it for the page you’ve assigned as your posts page and it will display on your blog pages
Hey, great theme! Just one pre-buy question: is it able to disable the special “smooth” scrolling effect on this page? It’s really annoying (if you are not used to it) on Macs, so it would be very cool if that would be possible!
Hey janninho!
Yes, you can deactivate it with one click in the theme options panel
Cheers
That’s indeed very good, you convinced me!
Next time don’t make it so hard!
Cheers mate
I wont!
Hi I have a question about updating to the newest version of the theme… I already have a website running but would like to update, is it safe to simply switch the files or is there more to it?
Hey bogi!
Yes, it’s safe to simply switch the files. You need to delete the old version of the theme and then upload the new – your content will be safe so don’t worry about that either.
Here’s a section from the user guide on updating, “You can update your theme by downloading a fresh copy from ThemeForest, deleting the current version you have on your server and uploading the new. It’s recommended that you use FTP, but this also can be done with the WP dashboard if you prefer. The reason FTP is superior for this is because the theme won’t have to be deactivated during the process so you won’t have to reassign your widgets.”
Cheers
Thanks, this was in the user guide, shame on me.
No worries!
Do you have the file for the preview content to be uploaded?
Also – can you edit the page urls?
Hey tbrady8053!
1. The dummy content is included right inside of your download folder from ThemeForest named” dummy-data.xml”.
2. Yes you can edit the page urls and titles once the data is imported
Thanks! Also, it appears the blog shows up on the home page, how can this be changed?
You’re welcome!
By assigning your home page as the “front page” and blog page to the “posts page” in settings > reading.
Thanks so much. Is it possible for the Team profiles to be linked to an individual page?
Theme is great!
Thanks, I’m glad you’re enjoying it!
You can insert a standard html link right in the description attribute of the team member shortcode. Make sure to switch into the text tab on your editor when doing it though as the visual tab won’t parse html!
Here’s what an html link looks like:
<a href="http://themenectar.com">I am a link</a>
and here’s what it looks like inside of the shortcode:
[team_member description="Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, <a href="http://themenectar.com">I am a link</a> consectetur adipiscing elit. Integer lorem quam, adipiscing condimentum tristique vel, " social="Facebook, http://facebook.com, Twitter, http://twitter.com, Youtube," image_url="" name="Trevor Smith" job_position="Founder / Project Lead"]
Would it be possible to add a Google+ sharing option? We already have the ‘love’, Facebook, Twitter and Pintrest icons and it seems as though there is just enough space for one more(in the blog/sidebar area). It is expected that in 2014 Facebook and Google+ will be big ranking factors for SEO so I feel this would make a great addition.
Anyway great theme, probably the best Wordpress portfolio available.
Hey owenprescott!
A couple others have requested this as well so I will up its priority in my to-do list for the theme.
Thanks a lot for the kind words
Great, thanks.
You’re welcome!
Hi there, how do I change the default font color? I want the text black not gray.
Hey blogsocialpros!
use this in your custom css box in the theme options panel:
body, body p {
color: #000!important;
}
Great! Thanks a lot!
Cheers!
`Hithere i saw the 1.7.1 updata says :Added the ability to define categories for the recent work and recent posts shortcodes. i Can’t find the setting in the wordpress. can u help me. plz thanks~
Hey csmsc,
the 1.7 update did indeed bring a UI to choose the category the recent work/posts shortcode will display from. It looks like this: http://i.imgur.com/L8RV4MR.jpg
If you updated and don’t see that try clearing your browsers cache
<?php if (is_home() && in_category('3') ) continue; ?>
after
<?php if (have_posts()) : while (have_posts()) : the_post(); ?>
in the template-home-3.php.
it doesn’t work..
i want let the blog that category=3,No Display in the home page.when i used the “recent work& post” template.
ok.i already let it worked. Thanks~
Great to hear! Cheers
Can you open a private ticket with your credentials so I can login and see what the issue is?
Thanks!
waiting on your reply
Hey there,
Great theme! Do you have any plans to add more interactive elements similar to the bar graph, such as pie charts and counters?
Thanks!
Thanks a lot renesbitt!
I do indeed have many more plans to add elements to the theme. As you can tell from the changelog, I’m always working on adding features
Cheers
Yes, I did notice that. Wonderful! My client requires a section that displays facts & statistics, so that would do perfectly.
Great! Sit tight and I promise to deliver for the next release
Hi, I am interested in buying your theme. Just one quick(dumb) question….Is it only full width or does it have a boxed option as well?
Thanks!
Hey bluekw!
As of right now it’s only fullwidth as you see on the demo, however I intend on adding a boxed option in the next update
Cheers
Cool, thanks for your quick reply! Do you maybe have an estimation when the next update will be coming out?
No problem!
Within 2 weeks max for sure
hi, can you tell me… Can i change the height of the home page slider to suit? If i draw my own icons can i upload and use them on the circles? last question, does yoast seo plugin work with your theme, thanks
Hey hairyhobo!
1. Yes, you can define the slider height to be whatever you want.
2. You would to convert your icons into a font file, reference them in the theme and then call them manually where you want them with html.
3. Yes the theme is compatible with Yoast
brill, thanks for the info
Cheers!
Hello, I just bought your theme, I love it, really! I have a bit technical question for the contact template. When I joined the location on Google map, performance is measured in Gtmetrix detoriate and fall to 76% for measures of YSlow. For information my htacess file is optimized with gzip compression, the expiration headers and Kill Them Etags. In fact, I have two questions: 1) Do you have an idea to suggest me to avoid this performance detoriate? 2) Is it possible to position the Google Map to another part of the form, in the end in this case, and / or display it in a smaller size? Thanks for your help and again, very very nice work! Eric
Hey eperruchot,
1. Google maps is a large library to load but I don’t know of anyway to improve performance with it. Currently I am loading the library externally (it’s hosted with google) But perhaps if you bring it locally and minify it you could improve performance a bit.
2. You would have to edit the page-contact.php file and move the map div to where you want it. You could also alter the css for it to alter it’s dimensions.
Cheers
Hi there,
How can I make the homepage slider to be 100% height? I tried to set 100 in the panel and then in init.js I changed “px” to ”%” in the customSliderHeight() function, but it doesn’t work. I suppose the height is calculated in some other places too.
Can you help me to achieve this? Thanks
Hey deiu,
There would actually be a bunch of things that need changing in the js file to accommodate this mod. It’s a bit beyond the scope of what I can quickly write up – but you would need to also change it in the sliderAfterSetup function. It uses a variable for “sliderHeight”. You need to set that variable to be 100% of the screen height like:
var sliderHeight = $(window).height();
Hi there,
I also have a problem with the logo and it’s clickable area. Only half seems clickable but I’ve set the right height of the image. Is there anything I’m missing?
Thanks again <3
Hey Braintail!
Add this into your custom css box:
header#top #logo {
display: inline-block!important;
position: relative!important;
z-index: 10000!important;
}
Hi, how can I upload a video which is more than 10MB, I’m trying to upload my video in media, but it said “Maximum upload file size: 10MB”. Thanks.
Hey FishHawk, thanks for purchasing the theme!
Max upload sizes are defined in your php.ini file on your server doesn’t have anything to do with theme theme or WordPress even. Contact your hosting company and ask them to increase your limit
Cheers
Thanks for your quick reply.
You’re welcome!
