Hello, I am having trouble embedding youtube and vimeo videos on the home page. When I enter the link in the nectar shortcode for video elements, the M4V File URL: it does not show up. I am able to make the video work if I upload it directly, but I this isn’t what I need, I want to embed youtube on the home/main page. Thanks.

You don’t need to use any shortcode to embed videos, just simply paste the embed code into the text tab on your editor and it will display

Just updated to this latest release after updating to WP 3.6. Currently if we try to add a “non-slider” gallery to the Extended Content window, nothing shows up. We have to manually add each individual image (sort of a pain it would be nice to have thumbnails). Is this supposed to be the case?
Also if we add thumbnail galleries to our projects is there any way that you could introduce your lightbox to those as well. It seems to only work when clicking on a thumbnail of a project.

1. No, that shouldn’t be the case – I’ve tested this scenario and the gallery should display as normal when not using the gallery slider option. Can I please ask you to open a ticket on the support forum with your URL and information so I can check on it for you?
2. Open up init.js file, located in the js folder, and add this anywhere after the first line

First off all congratulations for the theme, one of the best themes that i found and buy.
I am from Brazil and try translate to portuguese some words in theme using the .po .mo files. I using one program called POEDIT, in some words works perfectly but not in sentences like “RECENT WORK / VIEW ALL WORK” in home and “Sort Portfolio” in Portfolio.
I dont know how translate sentences like that.
Any help?

Those labels can actually be inputted by you right in the theme options panel in the “Portfolio Options” tab

Yes i can change portfolio attributes and portfolio categories. My problem isn’t attributes or categories, is how i translate the words “RECENT WORK / VIEW ALL WORK” and in portfolio translate the words “Sort Portfolio”... For example, change “Sort Portfolio” to “Organizar Portfolio” and “RECENT WORK / VIEW ALL WORK” to “TRABALHOS RECENTES / TODOS”.
I try translate that using the .po and .mo files, but not successful.
Other words that i change in the .po and .mo files it’s work great, but some sentences like i told before not change.

You don’t need to alter those strings in the .po, there’s inputs to enter your desired text right in the theme options panel under the Portfolio Options tab. Please see this screenshot in reference to the three strings you’re trying to change: http://i.imgur.com/6KfVHWy.jpg

Has anyone experienced disappearance of the image for parallax_bg or no display of background image when in Chrome or Safari? Mine works perfectly in IE and Firefox but the parallax background images in Chrome and Safari are not displaying on my home page.

The icons on my Homepage don’t show the outer thin line animation on rollover anymore after I made them link to inner pages. Now with or without links on them, the rollover is simpler, only coloring the inner circle, even after upgrading theme (and WP). Please, how can I revert this? Thanks a lot. Best regards.

Hey mascotagency! There wasn’t any issue with child themes that I fixed in the most recent version – there actually hasn’t been any known issues with child themes since before v1.4. Can you paste your child theme head here so I can see it? It should look like this:

I can see when checking your site that the child theme stylesheet is throwing a 404 not found error:

Thanks for the QUICK update on the theme…I know this is not probably really YOUR issue…but, the plugin STYLING WITH SHORTCODES still is whacked out…it kills the header area and some other pages. I posted on their wall also. But, I am using STYLING on another site but with a different theme and I have not had any fallout with the WP update. I wish I could show you what it is doing but the clients site is live so I have to DEACTIVATE the shortcodes plugin to maintain it’s functionality. BUT, there is probably 4 hours of labor to go through and remove all those shortcodes with standard stuff….again, since this seem is different with Parallax that must be causing the problem.

Salient v1.7.1 has landed
This is just a minor release to fix the bugs you guys found this morning when upgrading to WordPress 3.6. I have already posted a full changelog highlighting the bugs I took care of (some of which weren’t specific to 3.6) which you can find here: http://themenectar.com/changelogs/salient.html You can also see that I’ve updated the demo to WP 3.6 and check out the new media players for self hosted video/audio.

If you’ve checked out my responses to some of the other people wondering about 3.6 I’m aware of the issues and have been working on an update to fix all of them which will be released today.

Hey. Thank you very much for this great theme. I have one question: Are you planning to create an own look for tables? And I don’t mean the pricing tables, just an ordinary table. If I create one now all the elements are very close to each other… and even if I change the width of the table, it still doesn’t really looks as great as all the rest of the design elements of the theme. I just saw that some have problems since updating to WP 3.6 so my question is:
1. Is it save to upgrade now and if not when do you plan to release an update that is 3.6 compatible?
2. Not sure if you remember me. I suggested a couple of options for the footer a while back. So in a way that we can choose if the footer is one column, 2, 3 or 4 columns. Is there a chance you can implement that. With one column the theme would basically just use what is in the sidebar footer 1 and so we could add widgets there. If you want I can send you a screenshot of other themes that offer that feature, but I guess you know what I mean.
3. Did you add the option to have a slider now wherever we want so basically as a block element that we can add to a page wherever we want. That would be awesome. And if you could just add the option to overlay the different slides with slide specific text (like headline 1, headline 2 and text or just the wordpress editor so we can add and style it ourselves) this would be super awesome.
I just have to finish my site in the next weeks and I really want to use your theme but I guess these features are still missing and are important to be super flexible.

1. The update has been released to fix all bugs raised to me since the release
2. I will be adding in footer options, just in the next major release – today was solely a bug fix patch that was urgent I get out quickly (no time for new features this go around)
3. This feature may or may not ever make it into Salient. When I make new themes of course it’s something I totally see the need for. It’s just implementing a system into the current theme that allows this would require every updating user to reconfigure there slider and that would make for a lot of unhappy customers – especially the ones who didn’t even need the extended functionality in the first place. If I can find a way to add this smoothly without disrupting all the legacy users I will go for it
The new WordPress upgrade has disabled the Portfolio’s functionality. Suggestions – Fixes?

I am releasing a fix today that will take care of all the 3.6 bugs that have been raised to me. This will get your featured image to display again for your portfolio items, but items that are using galleries for have to be created using the new way which is to use the built in WordPress gallery system by clicking “Add Media”. Once you’ve added the gallery to your post/project, check the box for “Gallery Slider” and your images will turn into the familiar slider you’re used to with Salient. Using this method of galleries will now unlock infinite pictures per gallery (previously capped at 6) and will allow your galleries to follow you if you switch themes as it’s not specific to Salient anymore

If you need a full width gallery that would require custom modifications to the theme files.

1. The icons used in Salient are being generated from a font file, Font Awesome, and it would be difficult to add to that without knowledge of how the system works. You’re best best would be to manually create classes for your icons and set a background image through CSS.
